Eric, thanks for sharing. Dog work, shooting, narrating, and alike is amazing. I’ll be taking my English Setter next year on a similar tour. Watching your videos is inspiring. Thanks
Brings back a lot of memories right there !!! When I was 16 I had 2 pointers that could find anything in the field gota love it when a bird holds tight like that last one!!! dog knows he's there and is not giving up on him !!! I had pointers my brother had setters and my neighbor had Britney's good times
I'm regretting end of season here in my home state, my tri-color English Setter is seasoned and eager to please, still run her at put and take reserves to keep her happy. Love the channel, nothing like hunting with good dogs.
Two seasons ago, I spent a month in Kansas. Kind of a bucket list thing I did on the way to Florida. It was December and the quail had been banged on for a few months. They were hard to come by on the walk in ground. It was the first time I have ever hunted them, and I found them very challenging to find, shoot, hit. My Gordon and I actually shot more roosters. I'm thinking about doing a tour of the west in 2022 for a month or so - earlier this time. Have been enjoying your content.
You are one of the reasons I just got my first wildhair, er I mean Wirehair puppy from Bone Point. Your dogs do some work! I just got back from a 10 day E OR trip where we got into chuks, huns, quail, phez, and ducks and I agree about the shooting deterioration. About midtrip I recognized what I was doing and was able to finish strong. Sometimes I am not so lucky. Keep up the good work and good hunting sir!
I notice the the same thing with my shooting as well, that as my longer trips progress from start to finish my shooting gets worse along the way. I think it has to do with lack of good sleep/overall fatigue. Body can’t recover quick enough and shooting performance suffers. Similar to having a fresh dog on the ground versus a dog that’s been working it’s ass off all day for you. The fresh dog always performs better
I love your adventures and hunts. Living on the East Coast, it makes me what to move to the Midwest. Suggestion, they are expensive, the Shotkam would really enhance your videos. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great hunts.
You mentioned your shooting getting worse as you go along. I had that happen. An old bird hunter told me it happened to him aswell. He said it was an unconscious reaction to the recoll of the 12 ga I was shooting. I didn't believe him but dropped back to a 20ga and found it didn't happen very often after that. Not liking my shooting ability with the 20 as far as accuracy, I have since started shooting my 28 ga with 1oz loads. It's amazing how accurate I have become since doing so. Something to think about.
Hi Eric love your videos. Me and my boys make the trip out west once a year from nj. This year we are thinking Kansas and in April me and my wife are going to drive out and do some camping and some scouting for are December trip. Would like to go to a area where we can get into both quail and pheasant. Any suggestions on where I should start.
a far cry from partridge hunting in Maine! Would love the opportunity to hunt there. I shoot both sporting clays and skeet to try to keep my shotgun eye. I found myself watching your swing on your shots and could pick out a couple of times when you shot behind and clearly when you hit with a nice swing and follow through. I'm thinking I could benefit from your filming setup on the skeet and clays field. I assume you're using a GoPro. Would you mind sharing what model and any other information regarding the camera, setup, etc.? Thank you! Liked and subbed.
@@ericforrester1 Thanks! Yes, I'm familiar with the ShotKam; also with the $650.00 price tag which stings like 7 1/2 shot at 55 yards. :) I'll have to check on the sting of the hero 8. Thanks again.
Eric you shot a dead bird!!! LOL Tom done shot it before you pulled the trigger!! thats family for you tho!! even tho it was dry it looked like a great trip & anytime you can hunt with family is a great trip!!! thanks for sharing, HAPPY NEW YEAR & be safe!!
I'm gonna have to put a tracker on your truck....heck I live here and haven't seen that many birds. Unfortunately, the recent fires got a few of my spots a couple weeks ago.
Are you guys hunting private land? I live in western NC and we don’t really have any upland birds besides grouse and woodcock. I’ve quail, pheasant, and chukar hunter a couple times, and I love it. Id love to go out west and hunt sometime, just got to find a good place to do it
Where in Kansas is this? I am a kid and I haven’t been able to find any birds in Colorado. If anyone has any good places pls tell me. It would help me out a lot. Good luck everyone!
Awesome video and great dog work, especially tracking the running hen up that milo row!!! What collar do you use and does it have beep and shock correction? I need a GPS collar for my pointer
Eric, your videos capture the best of the birds and your dogs. Great dog work. Thanks for sharing your trips
Very kind, thank you!

My new favorite bird hunting channel. Glad I found it.
I agree, something about his channel is just awesome
Same here. Great dogs, cool adventurers, lots of diversity. Eric is the man.
The high roof van is actually a pretty bad ass idea.
Cool video. I am a ruffed grouse hunter but I need to try this one of these years.

Great video! Always good to see the dogs work and get those quail flushing! Congrats on storms first covey point. That’s was awesome.

Great Eric ! Reminds of the good old days (before the blizzard of '78) here in Indiana. The twitches with the shotgun are hard to break.
Man…it would have been fun to be a quail hunter back then!
That last one with Tubs had me laughing, had a similar situation with one of my dogs hunting Mearns a couple weeks ago

Great video! The dogs are incredible to watch and there was some solid shooting on your part.
Thank you!
I like Tubby, now that dog has talent and makes me smile.
Had same conditions there was debating return trip after watching definitely heading back! Thanks for sharing

I think Twig is your new Cici. She looks like she's going to be a great bird dog ;).
Thanks, she’s a good one 👍
Excellent channel!!
Question- when chasing quail and pheasant same hunt.. what Guage choke and shells do you use?
I’m focus on quail and I only shoot pointed birds so I get away with 7.5 shot. 👍
Thanks for sharing your videos! Happy New Year!
You too!
What size shot when into pheasant and quail?
I shoot 7.5
Brilliant dog work guys and not bad shooting either 👏
Great stuff. I try not to watch tell the off season to help withdrawal but anyways give the pups a treat tonight for me
Will do, thanks!👍

If you go to the Kansas website there are detailed maps that show what parts of the state each species is in. 👍

Looks like so much fun!!!
Awesome hunt man
It's fun watching 👍
Eric, enjoy your content. Are you primarily hunting public land or have you lined up a lot of private land access from previous trips? Thanks.
Just public walk-in areas.

I just use a GoPro hero 8 black mounted on a head strap. If you would like a camera for a shooting trainer, the shotkam is a good choice. 👍
