Speaking of ghost States, how many chunks of territory did the US and nearly invade / Annex / purchase over the years? For example I know at one point the Yucatan applied to join the union, I know that during the 1812 war the US tried to Annex all of Canada, after the Mexican-American War the US had a chance to Annex a lot of northern Mexico but in the end didn't because the Diplomat in question did his own thing and I'm sure there are plenty of others.
Oh, there’s definitely others, like the Ostend Manifesto / Cuba; plus, your mentioning of the Mexican-American War reminded me of William Walker’s filibustering / freebooting in northern Mexico during the 1850s. We’ve actually had a couple requests to cover that and plan on doing so in a future video! *also, we have plans for the Republic of Yucatán because that’s just too fascinating a chapter of history to pass up and, like you mention, it's kind of interconnected with some other videos on the channel.
I never even knew that there were proposed states that never made it :D Very informative!
Oh, yeah...there's plenty more we didn't talk about too!
Interesting video
Really cool video! I knew about Jefferson and Lincoln, but never heard of the others
Glad you liked the video John; we'll be covering more ghost states in another video soon!
@@GhostCountries very cool!

Thanks man!
good video.
Thank you; glad you liked it Jiayi!
👍👍better and better.
Thanks Joyce; a new miniseries is also going up this month and, of course, we've got plenty of regular content planned for the coming months as well.
cool
Really glad you liked it! Got some other unique content planned for this month.
Id rather the proposed state of Lincoln be state of Washington.
And coastal Washington becomes Cascadia.
I would like to see what many of these proposed states existing would mean for US in alternative history means
Cascadia and Jefferson have pretty different vibes though
Hey, State of Jefferson never dies. I’ll see you all after California keeps Gavin Newsom.
Guess you called that one. 😅
@@GhostCountries I guess I did lol, you can already see people are posting about it
