  • Hi everyone!
This video is the third in the series of Stephen Moore reading the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy series of books, by Douglas Adams. Specifically this is side 3 of the tapes of The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy!
Stephen Moore played Marvin the Paranoid Android in the original radio series and the subsequent TV series, as well as many other characters e.g. Gag Halfrunt. This, coupled with his all-round excellent reading voice, make these a joy to listen to.
As a child I heard the radio series, consumed all the books, and eventually discovered these audio books on cassette tapes in my school library and devoured them all. But of course had to return them.
I recently began to wonder if they were still available. It transpired that they had never been re-released on more up-to-date media and were, I discovered, quite hard to get hold of.
This was the reason then to make these videos - to preserve these charmingly told versions of an unparalleled series of books. My channel is not monetised and I am making no money from this and I would humbly request if anyone does have claim to the copyright, please make a claim on RUclips for monetisation, but please do not block them. In this way future generations can continue to enjoy them.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this.
    Dr Alex

I have purchased all the four cassette tape series many years ago, and they are still my favourite, yearly listened to, go to, reality (or otherwise) escape stories, and it isn’t so much the life time of the tapes in question as it is the reliable tape players available. Anyway, the four part trilogy 😁is going to go down in history, which is now, as one of the best written and narrated stories ever told, period!

Thanks Dr Alex, I can't think of a more worthy cause. Thank you for finding and sharing these with us. As others have said, listening to Stephen Moore read THHGTTG was a joyful part of the 80's and early 90's.

I really loved your intro to this one. Putting a hyper-real face on an audiobook upload is rare and risky. Hearing someone pull it off as well as you have here has made it impossible for me not to reach out and say thank you.

Thank you :) I was just trying desperately to make sure no one copyright blocked these rare gems. Fingers crossed they will continue to be available to all.

Virtual impossibility being retconed into finite improbability was the most sane thought in this story so far 😄.

I have the original cassettes. One of my treasures. I also had lps of the original radio broadcast which I sold. Stupid me. Oh well.

I appreciate the uploads but do you have the monologue at the start of *every* episode? Only I feel that the people who are listening to the third video and onwards more than likely got here from epidode one, then two, having heard the beginning explanation more than once already?

The movie seems to have mostly sticked to the original story so far! Surprising. It can't hold its ground in the realm of voice acting however.
