      No problem, I’m going to be doing more this weekend, probably.

    i just got my email today for best effort. im on the northern side of NC. so far ive been using my phone tethered to my pc to play games and streaming shows stuff. my max download is 50 megabits but i rarely get to see that, most of the time its between 10-25. seeing these speed tests has given me a better understanding of the speeds i should expect and even on the lower end i think its waaaay better than what i get from my phone. thanks for the updates man

      No problem, NC seems to be popular for StarLink as I just added someone on steam ten minutes ago from NC that I met in the comments.
      So you know, Sunday night is the worst. Maybe take that night off of gaming or play single player as online will just add aggravation.

      @@brainhomestead6 that actually works for me, i work weekends usually 12 hours a day so im only free on weekdays. your kit didnt come with a ethernet cable correct? i dont have a wifi adapter in my pc so im looking into it.

    • @brainhomestead6
      @brainhomestead6  Год назад +1

      @@xXalexoozXx correct, the do make an adapter for it, but you have to buy it separately as the router has no wired ports on it. Also, you get a ground mount stand so if you want to mount it on your roof or anywhere else, you’ll need to buy a different stand from them.

      @@brainhomestead6 ok cool, thanks for that info. tomorrow morning ill go up on the roof and check for anything blocking view. im excited to be able to play some online games finally. the tethering i use isnt recognized most of the time for online servers so i have a hard time connecting.

    • @brainhomestead6
      @brainhomestead6  Год назад +1

      @@xXalexoozXx yeah, I don’t even get enough cell signal to tether. Before I had DSL, I had to work remotely in my car from a Walmart parking lot because that was the only place my cell signal was strong enough to support a tethered connection.

    I don’t have the residence service in my area. Do you think the RV will be a good choice. What speed does the RV get?

    • @brainhomestead6
      @brainhomestead6  Год назад

      I’m not sure what speed the RV service gets, but I believe it’s similar because it’s deprioritized the same as Best Effort service is.

    Every time my visibility circle has a checkmark inside it - like yours - it says that it is checking the sky and will have the results in approximately 12 hours. Once the checkmark disappears the circle has partial circles inside the main circle (if that makes sense) But I don't see that you are getting that message with your checkmark. I am a little north of you in Murphy, NC and use the same servers as you.

    • @brainhomestead6
      @brainhomestead6  Год назад

      Rick, I’ve never gotten that message, it tells me directly every time. I don’t ever really have any obstructions and when I do it’s for a split second, which leads me to believe it’s a bird that flies in front of the satellite.
      It’s funny you’re in Murphy because I ride through there all the time on my way to the Tail.

    Yikes i hate seeing it go slow reminding me of centurylink that i just got rid of lol but yeah the speeds are so random i hope they fix it with more satellites soon i dont understand how it goes from 300 to 3 to 200 its so weird lol love the videos tho

    • @brainhomestead6

      Thanks. The bad part is that Sunday nights have been getting worse, not better. They got better for awhile, then the last 2-3 weeks it’s gotten worse. There’s more satellites coming online all the time, just hard to wait.

      @@brainhomestead6 Yeah true i'm still a happy its better than my 1.5Mbps connection but it does get annoying at times when its slow around 10pm and stuff when im online to play with 5 other people using it in my house. Gonna try mounting it higher today and see if that gets rid of the disconnects when gaming. Video are not noticeable. Do u get any?

    • @brainhomestead6
      @brainhomestead6  Год назад

      @@condome815 I’ve only had a noticeable disconnect a few times. I know it happens more than it affects me, but fortunately it recovers before I know it. I have my satellite mounted firmly to the roof.

      @@brainhomestead6 I have tons of trees around me so i'll mount it on the roof once the parts come and see if that gets rid of everything

      @@condome815 I noticed when making my newest video that I have obstructions that pop up occasionally for less than 1 second…. The only thing I can guess is that it’s a bird flying in front of the satellite occasionally. There’s a very large pond across the road from me so I get a lot of ducks/geese flying very low over my house.

    great videos, keep them coming, It would've been nice to see the loaded pings for download and uploads, I was looking into starlink for my rural house in the UK but ended up finding out about 4G routers and external antennas for fringe areas with next to no coverage, which I ended up going with. The provider Three in my area is who had the best coverage in my area (again fringe area with 1 bar of signal WITH the external antennas) has been doing maintance work the whole time i've been with them, I signed up on a rolling monthly contract for £26 a month unlimited and they began their work on the towers in my area at the start of september, so i've yet to see the best average performance, but i'm getting 20Mbps avg during the day and a max of 60Mbps in the off peak late hours of the night (midnight to late afternoon) The good thing that gives me more hope about my area with 4G broadband is Three are doing away with 3G with a set goal of BY 2024 so they're repurposing the 3G band 2100MHz for 4G and i'm hoping they'll add band 32 which they recently starting to roll out with is 1400MHz which is further reaching than the 1800MHz band I only have access to currently. I was getting 12Mbps down and 0.6Mbps up with my DSL provider previously so it's an improvement but ping isn't great at the moment.
    During off peak hours it's ok it can by 30-70ms unloaded and 300-1000ms download and upload during those hours and peak hours it can be 60-300ms unloaded and 500-2000ms download and upload
    DSL was always regardless of time 50-70ms unloaded and 60-150ms download and upload
    I used to play ALOT of rocket league which is very ping dependent and I found my ping wasn't great with DSL previously if I had anything at all happening while playing like a phonecall on my mobile which works over the internet from a booster box which is still hooked up to the same DSL connection since that contract hasn't ran out yet.
    I'm curious what your loaded pings would've been like during those Sunday tests.
    Would you do a follow up test next sunday showing your loaded pings please? :)

    • @brainhomestead6
      @brainhomestead6  Год назад

      In this video at 8:30 and 9:30 tests the network was pretty much fully loaded and my ping was 200-300ms. Not great but I’ve had much worse elsewhere. I have a video of me playing MW2 and there was only 1 place where my ping was noticeably high. What I’ll do this coming weekend is run these on my laptop so you can see all of the readings. When I do these on my phone it truncates all of the readings. I read them off, but I’ll use my laptop so you can see them. I will also say that Sunday night is when I have the most problems with latency and download/upload speeds.
