In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. I've often thought if someone walks past a dumpster and Mike is in the bottom of it, they would think the dumpster is talking to itself.

Hi Mike. Regarding to ballast, you have the tools to open them and it's worthwhile. The copper is all tuck together in a single rectangular shape, all you need to do is remove the iron from it, which I explained in another if your vids how to do it... small ballasts usually have between 50 to 200g worth of copper, while the big ones , like the one you got on this vid, can go from 450 up to 700g. It's clean copper, no need to strip and all you need is a hammer and something with a wide tip so you can break the thin welding and the hit the middle or sides to make the iron slide out
It's such a trip to me that no one recycles their bottles and cans where you live. Maybe recycling centers in Texas are few and far between or?
I'm in California and we dont throw away our bottles or cans. We recycle them, or if were extra lazy we set them beside the dumpster for someone else to pick up and recycle.
we get 10 cent can or bottle in australia. do u in USA have can cent returns
I'm not sure about other states, but I've seen a couple places in California that pay 10 cents per can or bottle, and it's an automated machine that you place your bottles or cans into.
But most of our recycling centers pay by the pound.

blue square makes pool cleaner systems, that one item is about 300 bucks and the smaller fittings in the box are turbo vents

Who throws away 9:29 full bottles of drinking water in a dumpster? Every container disposed of in that way sends a bottle to a landfill and removes it from use. I’m paying nearly a thousand dollars a year for water district taxes and people throw the stuff in the trash. Empty out your bottles of drinkable liquids if you’re not going to finish them. Once in the landfill you can’t get it back. 15:40 we always referred to that as “hardware cloth”. Comes in a variety of mesh sizes at least from 1/8” to 1/2”. Wrap some of that around the open ends of your roof top vent stacks, keeps birds, squirrels and rats from crawling into them and coming up through your toilet...yes, it does happen. 30:40 make sure the ballast is PCB free before you cut it open. Should be on the label.

I think that pool doowee would make a good antimatter engine. If someone were to be intoxicated with lava lights and stuff that picture would be very cool.

Ballasts consist of a step up transformer, a couple of chokes to limit the current to the lamps and a capacitor. And the whole case is filled with tar. Cutting one open will be messy. You will have to heat it to melt the tar out and the windings are quite small. Prolly not enough copper to be worth it. But would make a cool video.
I'm sure some people doing their own fiber optic cables would buy it.

You should have taken that squirrel cage fan next to that dumpster it's from a furnace makes a really powerful shop fan I got 2 of them had people wanting to buy them when using it at a garage sale.

Kevin Humphrey the old ones have a big transformer which you can smash open by hitting the welded joint and it gives you about 2 or 3 kilos of copper.

Copper coated in a black tar resin that unless they have something new to remove it and is safe for the in environment, everything you can do is illegal. Last time I did that, was yrs ago in vm Oklahoma, we lit a huge bonfire and tossed several on it after removing shell. I later found out it was illegal and the Rangers could have sited me big time. You can slam the resin hard but won't remove it enough to seperate the copper from it. We use to slam the wire on a rock, rinsed it in the OK river so we hot clean prices. But.. you will see.. its hard n chips like thick glass.
In Kentucky we call that rat wire, because it keeps the rats out.

The rings is probably from welding practice when one is done they have a torch equipped machine that cuts round material in an angle so that it is set up for the next weld, that way they can reuse pipes several times per foot, same can be done for flat welds !

An Ozone System ... POOL PARTS... from Vegas.. WHOLE SYSTEM on clearance new at 526. If those are parts... then more ... but you need to dbl check.. if they are parts your suppose to put it together or they sent extra parts then the guy tossed them you can get over 600 if parted out. But. For faster sale, sell as a group .. make sure you do or dont have the full system ..
