Another 19th century locomotive that was retired in the days of the British Railways. Even though you didn’t mention her working for BR, but still, it’s amazing knowing she worked for that long.
Very nice Chris. Always wondered the story behind this little engine was. Just wondering, if you're doing small engines for slips, maybe RSH 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' could be a candidate?
Interesting enough it has a very american feel. Afterall not many British steam have that style of sand box and especially a bell. Plus the valve gear is similar to the 2 main American sets but with a twist. This loco surly has a one of a kind look
"For such a small engine, she racked up a huge mileage for her size" 354,000 miles in 65 years active service equates to 5,446 miles per year, which is a remarkably small annual mileage comparable to that of a used car salesman's puffery! :) The Ffestiniog Railway's Welsh Pony by comparison performed an average of 14,350 for her first 20 years *warning mild rant* (the overuse causing her to be rebuilt with most of her major components replaced in 1890 - 1891, again in 1915, and again still in 2013 to present, that being said, at this point it's not "destroying history" if the specific components "destroyed" in the current "destruction" have already been "destroyed" several times in it's working life, with the replacements in all cases being faithful to the form and function of the original, whilst still retaining some replacement components from each "desruction" as well as some of the "original" components of 1867) :)
Ah yes, the classic “grandfather’s hammer.” Personally, I believe the Japanese have the best answer to that particular paradox. Namely, so long as it is continuity with the parts, it’s still the same locomotive.
I've commented on this video on Facebook, I've also sent some pictures of this loco on there too. Can any one answer my question on there, thank you. Also good video.
Hi Chris. As always, great camera moves. Have you considered using a gymbal for your shots. Maybe you already are. I'm using a Panasonic Gh5 so it's a rather light camera. Well, just a thought. Nice writing again too.
I've commented on this video on Facebook and sent some pictures of this loco on there too. Can anyone answer my question on there? Thank you. Also good video!
Hi im a viewer from germany i have been watching your videos for a few days now and a question is running round in my head about „5972“ Olton Hall. I know she is on static display at the warner brothers studio harry potter exhibition but why? did warner bought her after the franchise ? She was running a few years ago why didnt they keep on running her on the jacobite? Can anyone help me ? I didnt get much out of google to that topic. Thx. Sorry for the offtopic😅
Well, I mean I assumed it is debated, as both engines are extreamly similar. The Avonside is missing he bunker and a few other Addons, while the Kitson has he valve gear, and some other safety Addons. Tbh, I think it's more of a heavily modified 0-4-0t but that's my headcannon.

Such a nice looking loco, wish someone made a model of her!
Midland Compound 1000 they did he's called percy
I'm pretty sure that Percy is based of Trojan though?
Midland Compound 1000 I thought that was the Trojan
Nah, Trojan is number 1340, whilst this loco is number 1338.
Midland Compound 1000 Based mostly off Trojan but has the 1361 bunker.
Great Sole SLIP i always use to be fascinated watching the valve gear move up and down as she went about her work during her last spell in steam.
Hawthorn Valve Gear - pretty interesting stuff
And we are lucky to look at a nice engine like that too.
Wasn’t even aware Cardiff had its own railway, absolute stunner this one
This is my favorite engine still in steam, such a lovely little engine.
Very nice Chris.
Always wondered the story behind this little engine was.

The littlest engines have the biggest adventures

That's the real life Percy
not quite GWR 1340 Trojan is the actual basis of percy
I met Chris Eden-Green on the Ffestiniog Railway Yesterday.
If you could Chris, Could you do the GNR C1 Atlantic no. 251

Also good video.
o god that safety valve tho but why does is even have a bell? how is this a survivor but still a veteran no doubt
When the D49 reenters traffic can you do a sole slip on it
PLEASE do Highland Railway "Jones Goods" 4-6-0! Sole railway survivors are always interesting :)
WOW, Lucky Lady.
Lovely video! Will you plan on doing LNER 8572?
Any chance you would ever make a video on GWR 1340 "Trojan" ?
(Multipule People would benefit of it)
Hi Chris. As always, great camera moves. Have you considered using a gymbal for your shots. Maybe you already are. I'm using a Panasonic Gh5 so it's a rather light camera. Well, just a thought. Nice writing again too.
What about GWR 1340 Trojan?
Yeah I would like to see a video on her too
ShadowBall X Thats My 2nd Favourite Locomotive
Edit: this was made like 2-3 years ago,I have changed my opinions since then
i think trojan is in the works.
@Ethan Schmid nah, this engine, 1338, is the REAL real percy
You know this engine looks very similar to Percy the small engine
hidden in the bushes lol, and it worked for a few years too! :PPP
A Nice Little Saddle Tank. Can you do Highland Railway No. 103 next?
Mister Tterevel You are not the only one who wants to see that one, trust me.
“Don’t call me dirty Percy!”
Yes
Awesome Chris. I suggest the next sole slip be LNER J27 65894
I was thinking of the sole peppercorn a2 blue peter.
TheNw1218 Yeah until his overhaul is finished. And even new build Tornado 60163
Ryno Dynomyte The only remaining Worsdell P3? How about the M1 class?
Doctor Emil That’s right. Sure why not
Any possibility of making a sole slip on new-builds? Sorry if this is the 500th comment requesting this.
wasn't this engine the basis for percy from TTTE
No. According the the Rev W Awdry, Percy doesn’t have a basis and no one knows his origins. The closest thing to Percy in preservation is Trojan
hey its Percy.
I've commented on this video on Facebook and sent some pictures of this loco on there too. Can anyone answer my question on there? Thank you.
Also good video!
It's percy
Will Dean Goods 2516 come soon?
More ideas for Sole SLIPs:
LNER B1 "Mayflower"
MR "Spinner" No. 673
MR 4-4-0 Compound No. 1000
not much point in doing a Sole SLIPs on Mayflower when there's 2 B1s still around
Wait, what? Really?
yes, 61264 lives at the NYMR
You're right. I looked her up just after reading your reply.
I have a model of one in BR black.
Kinda looks like Percy

Sorry for the offtopic😅
Is this a cousin of the Trojan
Withdrawn in 1963 and put back into steam in 2000 is 37 years, not 47. Otherwise, a cool video.
...you're right, my bad
If this engine had a bunker it will be percy
Ya mean if Trojan did
@@sortascouse3 this is called a trojan
@@percy6production710 no it's the Cardiff railway no. 1338
the real-life percy has been found
The4014Gamer ForTheWin Close but no cigar. The real life Percy is an GWR avonside. well, at least debated as such.
Honestly, both engines might take the cake...but I'll leave the TTTE fans to debate that.

Baron RedTrap or, it’s a combination of both
Could be. Most of the early characters in TTTE were very loosely based off of real locos.
Best steam team ?-jeff
That's percy!
Kalyn train ?
Was Percy based on this?
Maybe
1:55 actually 1339 is still here today on the island of sodor and that engine is Percy
The closest engine to Percy is Trojan.. 1336 does look like Percy but Trojan is basically Percy.
116. Pass ths
New New man engines 9 jeff
1338 was (I think) percy from the railway series, well 1338 was the inspiration for him anyways.
Could you maybe do the LNER J70 tram next?
Bit difficult to do that seeing as there's no J70 in preservation
Chris Eden-Green I understand but thanks anyways.
If you can do american locomotives do jupiter if cant do 1340 trojan
Look Just like Trojan
This loco just looking like GWR 1340 Trojan
Percy?
Maybe.
Second
do thomas
Already have, never again

I Hate you I love. Thomas and I love. E2 do you hate. Thomas and friends
I never said I hated Thomas. Simple as that.
