Which is why we need the opposition to force it through when the government is in a minority position.
If the CPC, NDP, and Bloc could agree on a new system, they could just impose it on the Liberals without Trudeau's consent.

@@SylviusTheMadThe thing is, they wont agree unless it benefits them. Trudeau was the first major party to run on it, iirc, only to abandon it once they got in and they realized it wouldnt be good for them.
They and the CPC are the parties that benefit most from first past the post.

WE MUST HAVE A SAY on a change in electoral system. I find it very offensive to Canadians to call us too dumb to decide how we ought to vote in the future!!! New Zealand used to have FPTP which resulted with two-party system and gave awkward political outcomes (such as in 1981, National Party won the majority of seats even though they were narrowly 2nd on popular vote). Then in 1990s, they changed their electoral system to MMP. Nowadays, they have 5 parties in the parliament and all of them got a seat share close to their voting share.

my 'ideal' voting system would be one where every local constituency ballot counts for both local AND national representation. the elected local constituency member is the one that gets the majority of citizen votes via ranked choice ballots, whether from 1st, 2d, or 3d place votes as the least popular candidates are dropped in each counting round until a majority is reached. each ballot would also include a preferred party platform selection to determine the makeup of parliament. non.constituency members would consist of those who had achieved the highest percentage 2d place votes from the constituency elections (though this could be modified by each party to ensure regional representation).

If you get caught, you are out of the race. If you don't reach the goal in time, you are out of the race. If nobody makes the goal, the ones that were caught are eliminated, and the ones who hid and ran out of time will be judged on who made it closest to the goal. Then you can access it all...opps, someone just went "postal" on their digital job and you no longer exist. Maybe you got a speeding ticket, tsk tsk, you just lost some credit points so no fuel for you this month. It's already happening in other countries. I guess being old and not very smart is why I'm able to function with only three cards in my daily life, only when needed for that day do I take the fourth one.
