As soon as I saw the thumbnail and title, I said to myself "...PLEASE be discussing Yuko Tatsushima and not Tomino's Hell", and thank you for doing so, this artist deserves so much recognition.
Tatsushima is so talented and her work is so raw. Its depiction of abuse and mental illness reminds me of Korn’s early work (especially their first two albums and Issues) with how primal, honest, and willing to get straightup ugly it is. It also reminds me of some of the themes presented in Silent Hill 2 and 3.

I don't know if there's a saying or such, but I've seen that general sentiment expressed by characters in Japanese media after they've been "compromised" sexually. The idea that they've been "tainted" or "ruined" and that no one will want to marry them. The imagery absolutely speaks for itself, but if you need words to confirm, those ones absolutely do. That's why I relate so much to so many of these images. I used to think I was completely broken. I suffered COCSA and became terrified of sex, becoming severely sexually repressed. I was so scared my partner would leave me because I couldn't meet his needs. When I did start trying to have sex, I would suffer dissociation and vaginismus. I am so fortunate my partner is so loving and completely understands. He stuck with me through my recovery, and now we have a much more normal relationship. But even now I am still terrified my partner will leave me, even if I am so much more recovered than I was 2 years ago. In January I experienced something treading the line between sexual harassment and sexual assault. It was non consensual touching, I said no and he continued regardless, but it was only for a few seconds or so, and only light touches and not full on groping, so idk if that would still be assault or harassment. Either way, it ended up triggering my past memories of abuse, and I ended up having a breakdown, sobbing while my partner tried to comfort me. My fear was that I would fall back into being "broken", unlovable and that he'd hate me. I was terrified he'd leave me and that he wouldn't want to go through what we went through together again. Fortunately, while my mental health was impacted by what happened, I have good coping skills and am not "broken" like I was scared I'd become. But it just goes to show how badly even "light" SA or harassment can do to someone. It makes people feel so guilty, like they're gross and disgusting, unworthy of love, etc. Even now I just feel so unstable, like I'm going insane. It's why I've always related to Yuko Tatsushimas work. Sorry this was a bit of a rant.

I know I'm just some pixels on a screen representing a stranger somewhere far away, but I am so so so proud of you. Her work definitely portraits abused women and how they feel inside during and after the trauma. Now I understand why is so scary. Imagine painting the feeling to kill yourself because someone r*ped you. How you feel disgusted in your own body, the colors she use can be interpreted as sensations, it would explain why they look so nauseous. Not all of her work is about AS, I know that. But the example I gave can be applied to any topic in her artwork. It's amazing.
Yukos art feels like a manifestation of Malice and Hatred and looks like it has burnt itself (literally) into her art. It honestly reminds me of some old depictions of Naraka (Buddhist Hell.) and the Malice from Zelda BotW
Just say "abused people" instead of "abused women". No need to gender a crime that can happen to anyone. In my country, the majority of child sexual abuse victims were reported to be male from a national study on child abuse. There was a large percentage of severe cases where the victims were anally raped or had objects inserted in their rectums. The majority of these cases had a male victim, too. I believe we should support all victims of rape and sexual abuse, regardless of gender.
8:02 oh my god... hearing that the name of that painting is "i cannot be a bride anymore" i literally cried. its so sad and clearly about s/a with the whole idea that losing your virginity/becoming impure means you're no longer fit to marry... it gives the painting an entirely different meaning for me. plus the fact that the face is like a child but the body is clearly mature and sexual... thinking about what the story behind it must be, its just awful...
And how that face is kind of separated from the body, distant, I'd say. I don't want to theorize on her life, but the first thing that came to mind after hearing the title of that piece and observing that painting was SA during childhood/adolescence. It's one body but like you said, her face seems to be one of a kid, growing distant of that adult body. It's eerie, yet beautiful in its own way

I feel like the japanese tend to be more gritty and crude in their art than other cultures, the paintings remind me a lot of silent hill games and other japanese horror media related to visual art and such, it's like they just don't hold back when they have to make something off-putting and scary
It reminds me of the artstyle of Junji Ito. Hers is obviously different and not necessarily better, but more expressive and to me more fear provoking. However what Junji Ito does is a different type of media anyway so its useless comparing them. Her artstyle just reminds me of his.
Great video! One correction, in 9:35 it actually states “borderline personality disorder” which is vastly different from bipolar. The disorder can actually be seen pretty clearly in her paintings, especially in “white prison” with the feeling of dissociation and the SH wounds being depicted
Man I generally wish tatsushima had a presence online so we could see what she’s working on but I gotta respect the fact that she doesn’t have one honestly pretty envious of her for that. With that being said her artwork is just amazing you feel the pain and struggle she is going through with her art it’s incredible. she's pretty active on twitter, and she's gone on record to say she despises that her work has been reduced down to just a picture from a creepypasta. she also doesn't like her work being posted online [like in downloadable png form] by other people even with credit, but that could've been lost in translation
I used to feel uneasiness and fear when I'd see the painting because I had no context. Now knowing the context, I feel emotional/sadness. Trauma and mental illness are both things that be hard to overcome and you sometimes feel the need to pretend nothing is wrong. I know the feeling to well (I've had trauma before, not SA thankfully and I hope to god I never will). Now hearing Yuko was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and she was diagnosed after a very upsetting event, I can relate even more so. I have Bipolar II and only had got the diagnosis in recent years and I was diagnosed years ago with OCD after my grandfather's health was declining. Overall, Yuko's work is very powerful for me.

Yeah. Idk why BJD's are such a foreign concept in the west nowadays. It's clearly a BJD. Tatsushima is known to associate with BJD artists (I'm not talking about those commercialized cast dolls, but dolls by proper artists). She also tried making dolls herself, although I'm not too much of a fan of her doll creations. There are other AMAZING female BJD artists in Japan.
7:22 this one messed me up further i looked into it, the cuts all along their arm, chest, face, and thigh are of either scratch marks, or razor cuts the reason why this one made me so messed up was because i could genuinely feel what she felt in that image. the almost relieved stance she sits in, despite her face being so grimaced feels like the post-self harm relief you get. your whole body stings but you cant help but feel relieved. the pain going from mental to physical as a way to cope is just holy shit im genuinely too speechless for this

looking past the uncanny valley vibes and deeper into the art itself is so.... heartbreaking and empowering, past the surface level, it really hits something else i couldn't explain. it wasnt until he said she was diagnosed with borderline that i felt i could connect a lot more because my own artwork has started speaking out my own traumas and has gotten a lot darker recently as i work through it, and seeing that im not alone in that was so validating yet at the same time... its just a hell of an illness to have and i hate hearing others have it too cause it really is like it's own personal prison :(

This painting is one of my favorites. She (the artist) is incredibly gifted. The darkness in most of her works are one of the reasons I sought out her prints. Yuko is lovely too.
Genuinely one of my favorite paintings ever. The texture is amazing and the expression is perfectly ambiguous. The rest of the body is also very interesting with the neck and such. The use of color is very striking and perfectly executed. She is one of the coolest artists I’ve ever seen, she is incredibly talented and her work is so striking and wonderfully horrific. Her expressions are amazing, the texture is awesome and the colors are perfect.
Talented woman, loves horror obviously. Using various mediums to create is not easy. She is probably somewhat Goth in nature. As a "artist" and a huge horror lover myself, would be cool to meet her in person, I presume. Also, doing HORROR on paper is not easy, as everyone as a different ideal of what scares them. Bravo to her into succeeding in managing to have people around the world taking about it on the internet. I myself was happy when people were able to recognize my work from various website that had zero connections.
Probably, but the common theme indicates she's expressing pain. If she didn't have the repetitious theme if abuse against women, I wouldn't be so disrespectful as to be like 'lawl clearly a goth'.

@@osenator Embracing pain doesn't make you a goth. Neither does trauma. That's an entirely different thing. Her art expresses personal trauma as well as empathy towards the abused and imagery of what it's like to suffer from a mental illness (in Japan, where mental illness is looked down on or ignored).

Holy shit. This is literally the kind of artist I've been dreaming of becoming. The exact nature of the horror and despair is different but the sheer clarity of emotional communication through only imagery is god-tier and something i aspire towards. I was going to compare her work to Junji Ito's ...but honestly, for me, her work even blows Ito's illustrations out of the water in terms of the visual communication of complex negative feelings and horror. I think I may have legitimately found my new favorite artist. (I haven't posted anything yet so this is not a self promo btw. This account isn't even connected to my others in any way)
Damn straight her art work is horrific and disturbing the amount of patience hard work and time she has to be able to create these is incredible imagine if she made five nights at freddys themed art with the same horrific gothic style she has it would probably never happen but it would be cool if she did
It's the scribbly features that make the expression ambiguous. One moment it looks happy and amused, the next, horrified. If you apply your imagination, you can even make the happy face sink into horror. You can toggle or transition the expressions.
That’s how you tell an artist is talented. Even if the rules of proportions, perspective, etc. are being broken, you feel something. I hope to be able to put my feelings on a canvas and FORCE people to empathize rather than ask. Some of my older art had the anger of,”You will feel what I feel, but I won’t do what you did” and that’s honestly liberating when someone looks at it and tells you how it makes them feel. Her paintings have a disturbed, depraved, demonic, evil element to them, and a hollow broken feeling which is exactly what people with borderline personality disorder describe. The devastation of grief makes a lot of sense too. It's maybe 1 in a million that can translate the feelings of mental illness and trauma so completely into artistic form
I see the effects of abuse and the resultant hatred and anger in these images, mixed with the juxtaposition of what it means to be a woman. I mean.. dolls heads, made into images of suffering and death? The artwork of the woman amid the flowers and the pretty things, while her arms are jointed in such a way and her eyes are rolling back so that she almost appears as meat in the middle of all this. And all the time, those wide open eyes, in almost every one. And the creepy smiling/masking. Of all the contradictory rules we have, the ultimate one: be a pretty thing... and be meat. That's what it all says to me anyway. Whether that's what the artist intended, I don't know.
i absolutely love how you appreciated the artist's ability to evoke such terrifying feelings as a testament to her creativity, i think when people insist it must be cursed or something it kind of takes the focus away from all the thought and effort that went into the art. massive kudos for that
to be honest, i really do want to know yukos story, these is so much hinting about rape, mental health, self harm, and the horror element stitched together. in all of her work she’s seemed to master the horror of expression, but most of all anger. absolutely incredible
Honestly has a mentally ill person who isn't having it well in life, Yuko's pieces have help a little, it makes me feel less alone or feels like the pieces are describing how I feel at the moment, even if some of them have a different meaning or look creepy these pieces can help other people suffering in some way, Thank you for your hard work Yuko, it will always be appreciated by many.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but none of this artwork is scary or unnerving, it’s just very interesting and cool. The amount of meaning she fits into each piece without actually being very explicit or disgusting is really well done.

Considering all the levels of messed up stuff I've seen (as well as the probably even more messed up stuff I HAVEN'T seen (yet, at least)) on the internet, the title of the video for sure caught my eye. They must've done something TRULY interesting to have been awarded the "Internet's Darkest Artist" out of the countless weirdos that must exist out there.
In few world: childhood scare trauma its because the creepypasta , back then, kids believed in almost everything, until someone made an transformice creepypasta
I think she earned that title because there's actual meaning behind her work. Many people who dive into things like gore and horror create artwork like a pizza cutter... all edge and no point. Her art has meaning and it hits the viewer right in the face. There's no denying the sheer agony she's experienced
A clear indication of this artist creating masterpieces, is that the artworks can create a deep feeling of sorrow within the viewer, and like any true masterpiece, it manifests itself into a new piece of that viewer's personality and emotions

Very inspirational! Most of my art is off-looking, although, I never push it to gory or fully disturbing, just keep it at "Something is wrong". Always nice to see the works of other artist that create weird works!
Art with this subject matter is never good for my mental health, but her ability to capture a mood of overwhelming noise, disgust and dread is amazing.

Definitely picked up on the theme before the explanation. As a woman, and an artist, I can feel the art, and it's sad. This is someone raging against expectations. In particular, it's expectations put on her as a woman. There's probably a lot more symbolism that could be researched such as the lotus, and choice of flames and roses. But the fact they're all women, and the art is so aggressive, and "ugly," which isn't "feminine" speaks enough universally. The subjects all look as though they've been victimized as well, and are broken or lifeless.
9:35 just a small error, You stated she has Bipolar Disorder when the text on screen says Borderline Personality Disorder. I would like to point out although these disorders have overlapping similarities/symptoms, these disorders ARE NOT the same. Simply put Bipolar is a mood disorder whereas BPD is a personality disorder, both needing different methods treatments. I still love this artist's work and personally connect with the themes of it. I struggle with mental illness myself and this art really captures how it feels. I hope she is doing alright and taking care of herself. I respect her sharing of art while being private herself.

Thanks for this. I think the one that you mentioned where the woman looked 'stitched together' has the body of a ball jointed doll, exaggerated. The type of doll that the Popovy Sisters make, where all the joints use a ball in socket to move any direction.
Oh my god I LOVE Yuko Tatsushimas works so much, I take a lot of inspiration from them. The feeling they give me is so chilling and I love it. Definitely one of my favorite artists, if not my favorite

this is just my opinion but ive always thought that it could be partially chalked up to the unavoidable familiarity with death and suffering after the events of WWII. not enough people acknowledge how insanely barbaric and cataclysmic the bombings were. i’m sure the pain created by something so devastating resonated throughout the country, and continues to show its scars
i think it’s a mix of culture and isolationism, shared history and generational trauma (i.e. the atomic bomb), and government actions (like how tentacle porn basically exists because of govt censors). combine these with individuals with their own stories and motivations, and i think you have your answer there.

Yep, I should've not clicked, I forget this video had to deal with eye imagery... This stuff is honestly chilling, and not just bc of my Scopophobia, but bc of how these drawings are... The first image keeps me from continuing, but it just looks WRONG. The way its so scribbled frantically, the way the eyes will just tear into you. It gives me a feeling of just.. pure dread..
Yuko was a SA victim.. she also had problems with drugs too. I can't remember where I got the info, but it was from another youtuber. Her art isnt just raw, and disturbing, she painted her trauma for the whole world to see.

i feel like the elongated limbs and exaggerated body parts can be alluding to how victims of SA have warped views of their bodies after the trauma they experience, because they feel their body isn’t their own
They’re all her, us women, trauma and express the aftermath. It’s inner representation vomited on the canvas. I do the same and feel akin to her art. I feel understood.
I feel her rage through her pieces, it's like she was being injected with adrenaline and cortisol steadily throughout the time she was painting her pieces.
A few of the paintings give me the vibes of a woman who's suffering from both domestic and sexual violence possibly caused by some sort of betrayal , desertion, and definitely of mental illness. As a woman myself they definitely make me feel a certain way. I have to wonder if those weren't depicting scenes from her own life considering the fact that many great artists have those periods throughout their careers where their current life struggles can bleed through and become depicted within their work. But the images just seem so raw, filled with contempt, rage, and some serious depression which is pretty obvious when you consider the amount of reds and blacks that are used as well as her sharp and jagged brush strokes. They give me a feel of despair and anxiety. To me they almost seem like a vicarious peek into the anguished soul/life of a damaged and disgraced female. 🧐🙄🤔
I love Yuko's artworks. Sometimes i feel like i can't put all the feelings i want in some artworks, and i can't really show these feelings very well. But Yuko does that extremely well. Perfectly. Just by giving a fast look at her paintings and puppets i can already feel the emotion. The pain. The stress and the agony. I love that. Some day, i would like to be that expressive.
I've actually been infatuated with this artist for a couple years now and I'm happy to see a resurgence of her art but I want to answer the question at the of what does this painting make you feel I feel comfortable I feel hopeful I don't know why are painting such as that makes me feel that but I just hope this comment boosts this video more so more people find this a lovely artist she makes beautifully disturbing art I recently actually showed one of my teachers her website so it's kind of weird that I came across this video now
Kinda symbolic painting.I guess what you feel depends upon ones mentality. I felt quite relaxed tbh, i guess i always tried to find reason on anything i saw and this painting gave me vibe of sadness and sorrow and the numbness bought by it, the smile is not creepy but forced for her eyes seem numb while her face still trying to smile. She probably witness or experienced something horrific, the trauma caused by it made her to force a smile to feel positive but she cant feel it.
What gets me the most is the visceral and gritty use of colours that perfectly encapsulates the dark themes she wants to explore without even fully knowing the context behind the paintings. I also suggest to see her other works too, the ones that may differ from her trademark horror aspects, they're really good!

Just a correction, you state that she has Bipolar Disorder but she is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. These are two separate diagnoses, and are often mistaken for being one or the other. Speaking from experience.
bipolar and borderline are not the same disorder, they do have some small overlaps that can cause misdiagnoses or confusion but theyre definitely very different, its so rare seeing a person with bpd garnering such a loyal following but at the same time.... its really sad how easy it makes for others with bpd like myself to connect so deeply with her work, specially the most haunting pieces
Every time I see her work I think about this thing someone pointed out- most men seem to instinctually take away a feeling of fear or dread looking at these paintings. Most women seem to take away sadness.

As a male I would say that the feeling I felt was probably more close to sadness, at first some of the pictures were really gorey looking but as you look more you start to realize’s it’s just the color scheme.

It was non consensual touching, I said no and he continued regardless, but it was only for a few seconds or so, and only light touches and not full on groping, so idk if that would still be assault or harassment. Either way, it ended up triggering my past memories of abuse, and I ended up having a breakdown, sobbing while my partner tried to comfort me. My fear was that I would fall back into being "broken", unlovable and that he'd hate me. I was terrified he'd leave me and that he wouldn't want to go through what we went through together again. Fortunately, while my mental health was impacted by what happened, I have good coping skills and am not "broken" like I was scared I'd become. But it just goes to show how badly even "light" SA or harassment can do to someone. It makes people feel so guilty, like they're gross and disgusting, unworthy of love, etc. Even now I just feel so unstable, like I'm going insane. It's why I've always related to Yuko Tatsushimas work. Sorry this was a bit of a rant.

Her work definitely portraits abused women and how they feel inside during and after the trauma. Now I understand why is so scary. Imagine painting the feeling to kill yourself because someone r*ped you. How you feel disgusted in your own body, the colors she use can be interpreted as sensations, it would explain why they look so nauseous. Not all of her work is about AS, I know that. But the example I gave can be applied to any topic in her artwork. It's amazing.

In my country, the majority of child sexual abuse victims were reported to be male from a national study on child abuse. There was a large percentage of severe cases where the victims were anally raped or had objects inserted in their rectums. The majority of these cases had a male victim, too. I believe we should support all victims of rape and sexual abuse, regardless of gender.

And how that face is kind of separated from the body, distant, I'd say. I feel like the japanese tend to be more gritty and crude in their art than other cultures, the paintings remind me a lot of silent hill games and other japanese horror media related to visual art and such, it's like they just don't hold back when they have to make something off-putting and scary
It reminds me of the artstyle of Junji Ito. Hers is obviously different and not necessarily better, but more expressive and to me more fear provoking. However what Junji Ito does is a different type of media anyway so its useless comparing them. Her artstyle just reminds me of his.
Great video! One correction, in 9:35 it actually states “borderline personality disorder” which is vastly different from bipolar. The disorder can actually be seen pretty clearly in her paintings, especially in “white prison” with the feeling of dissociation and the SH wounds being depicted

I used to feel uneasiness and fear when I'd see the painting because I had no context.
Now knowing the context, I feel emotional/sadness. Trauma and mental illness are both things that be hard to overcome and you sometimes feel the need to pretend nothing is wrong. I know the feeling to well (I've had trauma before, not SA thankfully and I hope to god I never will). Now hearing Yuko was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and she was diagnosed after a very upsetting event, I can relate even more so. I have Bipolar II and only had got the diagnosis in recent years and I was diagnosed years ago with OCD after my grandfather's health was declining.
Overall, Yuko's work is very powerful for me.
7:41 I'd actually compare the figure in the painting to a ball-jointed doll rather than a stiched together puppet (due to the balls where the shoulder and wrist joints are). It still evokes the sense of lack of autonomy but feels less graphic in a way

Yeah. Idk why BJD's are such a foreign concept in the west nowadays. It's clearly a BJD. Tatsushima is known to associate with BJD artists (I'm not talking about those commercialized cast dolls, but dolls by proper artists). She also tried making dolls herself, although I'm not too much of a fan of her doll creations. There are other AMAZING female BJD artists in Japan.

The feeling of utter feminine _rage_ in Tatsushima's pieces is palpable. Through titles, the aggressive, harsh painting style. it's an absolute shame such fantastic artwork has been boiled down to a corny internet story.

looking past the uncanny valley vibes and deeper into the art itself is so.... heartbreaking and empowering, past the surface level, it really hits something else i couldn't explain. it wasnt until he said she was diagnosed with borderline that i felt i could connect a lot more because my own artwork has started speaking out my own traumas and has gotten a lot darker recently as i work through it, and seeing that im not alone in that was so validating yet at the same time... its just a hell of an illness to have and i hate hearing others have it too cause it really is like it's own personal prison :(

This painting is one of my favorites. She (the artist) is incredibly gifted. The darkness in most of her works are one of the reasons I sought out her prints. Yuko is lovely too.
Genuinely one of my favorite paintings ever. The texture is amazing and the expression is perfectly ambiguous. The rest of the body is also very interesting with the neck and such. The use of color is very striking and perfectly executed. She is one of the coolest artists I’ve ever seen, she is incredibly talented and her work is so striking and wonderfully horrific. Her expressions are amazing, the texture is awesome and the colors are perfect.
Talented woman, loves horror obviously. Using various mediums to create is not easy. She is probably somewhat Goth in nature. As a "artist" and a huge horror lover myself, would be cool to meet her in person, I presume. Also, doing HORROR on paper is not easy, as everyone as a different ideal of what scares them.

Holy shit. This is literally the kind of artist I've been dreaming of becoming. The exact nature of the horror and despair is different but the sheer clarity of emotional communication through only imagery is god-tier and something i aspire towards. I was going to compare her work to Junji Ito's ...but honestly, for me, her work even blows Ito's illustrations out of the water in terms of the visual communication of complex negative feelings and horror. I think I may have legitimately found my new favorite artist.

It's the scribbly features that make the expression ambiguous. One moment it looks happy and amused, the next, horrified. If you apply your imagination, you can even make the happy face sink into horror. You can toggle or transition the expressions.

Her paintings have a disturbed, depraved, demonic, evil element to them, and a hollow broken feeling which is exactly what people with borderline personality disorder describe. The devastation of grief makes a lot of sense too. It's maybe 1 in a million that can translate the feelings of mental illness and trauma so completely into artistic form
I see the effects of abuse and the resultant hatred and anger in these images, mixed with the juxtaposition of what it means to be a woman. I mean.. dolls heads, made into images of suffering and death? The artwork of the woman amid the flowers and the pretty things, while her arms are jointed in such a way and her eyes are rolling back so that she almost appears as meat in the middle of all this. And all the time, those wide open eyes, in almost every one. And the creepy smiling/masking. Of all the contradictory rules we have, the ultimate one: be a pretty thing... and be meat. That's what it all says to me anyway. Whether that's what the artist intended, I don't know.
The art is really really sad, the imagery gives the feeling that something beautiful is suffering 😢

Honestly has a mentally ill person who isn't having it well in life, Yuko's pieces have help a little, it makes me feel less alone or feels like the pieces are describing how I feel at the moment, even if some of them have a different meaning or look creepy these pieces can help other people suffering in some way,

Considering all the levels of messed up stuff I've seen (as well as the probably even more messed up stuff I HAVEN'T seen (yet, at least)) on the internet, the title of the video for sure caught my eye. I think she earned that title because there's actual meaning behind her work. Many people who dive into things like gore and horror create artwork like a pizza cutter... all edge and no point. Her art has meaning and it hits the viewer right in the face. There's no denying the sheer agony she's experienced
A clear indication of this artist creating masterpieces, is that the artworks can create a deep feeling of sorrow within the viewer, and like any true masterpiece, it manifests itself into a new piece of that viewer's personality and emotions

Definitely picked up on the theme before the explanation. As a woman, and an artist, I can feel the art, and it's sad. This is someone raging against expectations. In particular, it's expectations put on her as a woman. There's probably a lot more symbolism that could be researched such as the lotus, and choice of flames and roses. But the fact they're all women, and the art is so aggressive, and "ugly," which isn't "feminine" speaks enough universally. The subjects all look as though they've been victimized as well, and are broken or lifeless.

I would like to point out although these disorders have overlapping similarities/symptoms, these disorders ARE NOT the same. Simply put Bipolar is a mood disorder whereas BPD is a personality disorder, both needing different methods treatments.
I still love this artist's work and personally connect with the themes of it. I struggle with mental illness myself and this art really captures how it feels. I hope she is doing alright and taking care of herself. I respect her sharing of art while being private herself.

I think the one that you mentioned where the woman looked 'stitched together' has the body of a ball jointed doll, exaggerated. The type of doll that the Popovy Sisters make, where all the joints use a ball in socket to move any direction.

this is just my opinion but ive always thought that it could be partially chalked up to the unavoidable familiarity with death and suffering after the events of WWII. not enough people acknowledge how insanely barbaric and cataclysmic the bombings were. i’m sure the pain created by something so devastating resonated throughout the country, and continues to show its scars

They’re all her, us women, trauma and express the aftermath. It’s inner representation vomited on the canvas. I do the same and feel akin to her art. I feel understood.
I feel her rage through her pieces, it's like she was being injected with adrenaline and cortisol steadily throughout the time she was painting her pieces.
A few of the paintings give me the vibes of a woman who's suffering from both domestic and sexual violence possibly caused by some sort of betrayal , desertion, and definitely of mental illness. As a woman myself they definitely make me feel a certain way. I have to wonder if those weren't depicting scenes from her own life considering the fact that many great artists have those periods throughout their careers where their current life struggles can bleed through and become depicted within their work. But the images just seem so raw, filled with contempt, rage, and some serious depression which is pretty obvious when you consider the amount of reds and blacks that are used as well as her sharp and jagged brush strokes. They give me a feel of despair and anxiety. To me they almost seem like a vicarious peek into the anguished soul/life of a damaged and disgraced female. 🧐🙄🤔
I love Yuko's artworks. Sometimes i feel like i can't put all the feelings i want in some artworks, and i can't really show these feelings very well. But Yuko does that extremely well. Perfectly. Just by giving a fast look at her paintings and puppets i can already feel the emotion. The pain. The stress and the agony. I love that. Some day, i would like to be that expressive.

Kinda symbolic painting.I guess what you feel depends upon ones mentality. I felt quite relaxed tbh, i guess i always tried to find reason on anything i saw and this painting gave me vibe of sadness and sorrow and the numbness bought by it, the smile is not creepy but forced for her eyes seem numb while her face still trying to smile. She probably witness or experienced something horrific, the trauma caused by it made her to force a smile to feel positive but she cant feel it.

What gets me the most is the visceral and gritty use of colours that perfectly encapsulates the dark themes she wants to explore without even fully knowing the context behind the paintings.

Just a correction, you state that she has Bipolar Disorder but she is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. These are two separate diagnoses, and are often mistaken for being one or the other. Speaking from experience.
bipolar and borderline are not the same disorder, they do have some small overlaps that can cause misdiagnoses or confusion but theyre definitely very different, its so rare seeing a person with bpd garnering such a loyal following but at the same time.... its really sad how easy it makes for others with bpd like myself to connect so deeply with her work, specially the most haunting pieces

As a male I would say that the feeling I felt was probably more close to sadness, at first some of the pictures were really gorey looking but as you look more you start to realize’s it’s just the color scheme.
