What, Where, When? - Vekoma Coming To America

- VEKOMA… now that's a name that's been around in the industry for quite a while. And when I say a while, I mean long enough to take Arrow's original track design and use it for themselves, thus why the track from the boomerangs look something like say Loch Ness Monster. Though this track was advanced for its time, it wasn't designed to stay 'as good as new' for decades, so, over time, the coasters became rough. Luckily for us, Vekoma realized this and has since designed a new track style that grows with the technology, and is meant to compete with other leading competitors. Vekoma developed tons of new models but the ones we will focus on today are the Shockwave, Top Gun, and Firestorm all there new launch coaster. So, today's episode of Coaster Theory we're gonna see what parks could use one of these coasters, and for the sake of this Video we are sticking to North America, these plenty of these over in Europe and Asia! First and foremost, what are these models? First is the Space Warp, currently, there is only one Space Warp made, and that is Formula at Energylandia. This is a smaller model that stays low to the ground and pops up into a couple inversions. Also features several quick pops of airtime, most likely made for parks that don't want to buy the biggest model, but still want something short and sweet. Our next model is the Firestorm. Now, there's not too much information on this model, but that won't stop us from making our own theories. There are currently two in construction in China and Vietnam… so let's take a look at those photos and see what we have. It looks like this coaster is going to have one launch, which is going to propel the train up this top hat and then it will carry out the rest of the layout. It could have a second launch that i'm missing, but let's just say it's going to have one. And look how big that top hat is, these elements are going to be much larger and drawn out compared to the Space Warp. I would say this is middle of the pack between the Space Warp and the Shockwave. The Shockwave is the third and final model we will discuss today, and it's pretty much Vekomas answer to the Intamin Blitz. Just compare Abyssus at Energylandia to Taiga in Finland. Both have two launches, a top hat, airtime hills, but mostly inversions. The Shockwave is gonna be for parks that are willing to spend the money to get that big ride to get those guests through the gates. Now, what parks can I see getting a brand new Vekoma? Vekoma Shockwave at Hersheypark. 140 ft. tall, Red and White, "TWIZZLER"
TwinTime Productions I guess I wasn’t the only one thinking this 😂
It could be called Twizzler Twister
yes
Orlando and Universal and Disney should look into a launch by Vekoma
7:50
-Shockwave
-120 ft.
-SeaWorld Orlando (they have a flying coaster, a hyper, and a floorless, and are getting a launch family coaster, next logical step is either a launch multi-inversion, or an infinity type of ride)
(Also, SeaWorld Orlando is one of my home parks, along with Fun Spot, Disney, and Universal. I'm lucky)
-White, themed to either a polar bear, or a penguin (probably polar bear because they do have the penguin dark ride)
Awesome video, I think some Six Flags parks may be able to benefit from receiving a Vekoma launched coaster as well. I’d like to see a 130 ft tall Bermuda blitz at SeaWorld San Diego called Orca with black track and white supports
I agree with your choice of KD. It would be different enough from pantheon and I heard lech coaster wasn’t crazy expensive, would way rather have that than a 4d freespin 😂. Great video! 👍
I think Cedar Fair could put 3 to 4 coasters at Kings Dominion. 4d freespin on crypts land, b&m wing launch on volcanos land. Then they will probably take down anaconda in a few years and put in one of the vekoma launch coasters on that land. The question also becomes if they take out the water or leave it. Then a lot of people forget about the dinosaurs alive land that isn't being used but it's a lot of land for another coaster down the road. If they build something high enough just imagine when people could see if from the interstate driving by to draw their interest in the park. They need to make some really good decisions to compete with BGW, whose winning in Virginia.
Wynton Harrell o
In the intro you sound like you are about to burst out laughing 😂
SFNE. Great vid topic! 👍
Californias Great America needs a launch coaster, I really hope we get a Vekoma.
Or a Mack Hyper
@@Eaglescout217 Yes to a MACK hyper👍
B&M hyper and vekoma launch
Definitely agree! Vekoma has become so underrated. People have to remember that most Disney coasters are Vekomas. We need more VEKOMA!
There are even 2 vekoma's being build in Disney parks in America right now :')
@@schagerbaantje one might end up abandoned due to the crisis (from an insider's leak), so who knows if we're even going to get two next year, hopefully we get one at all, but the longer this goes the more likely it'll tank the other one
Flying coaster
200 ft
Cedar point
Light blue track
Dark blue supports
8 Inversions
4 lie elements
4 Air time moments
BGT won’t get a Vekoma Launch lmao they really don’t need it. They’ve already got 2 launch coasters and a bunch of thrill coasters.
BGW is about to get its 4th launch coaster
Psyclone500 TV yeah I get that but I just feel another launch coaster at BGT would be unnecessary
Yeah I think a B&M hyper would fit Bgt better than another launch coaster.
KingSkew agreed
@@kingskew4950 maybe a giga
I'm surprised you didn't say Kentucky Kingdom. They only have one inverting coaster and it's days are numbered. They also need a launched coaster and something compact would be important.
My personal preference would be that SFMM should scrap Scream (then covert Riddler's Revenge into a floorless) and put a new Vekoma in Scream's place. But my bet would be that either Kentucky Kingdom or one of the two big Herschend parks will be the first to get a new Vekoma launched coaster.
Yeah, but the owner of Kentucky Kingdom has infamously said that he does not like launched Roller Coasters as he views them as gimmicky.
Relocate Scream to Over Texas or St Louis instead of scrapping it.
GREAT VIDEO. You are the best .
Vekoma Spacewarp at Waldameer. About 100 feet tall, Blue track, white supports.
Since when does the Shockwave model focus on inversions? Abyssus has 4 inversions over 1316 meters of track, that's not focusing on inversions. That is a very varying ride that also has inversions, but does not focus on these. Time Traveler has (in relation to lenght) more inversions than Abyssus
I'd argue the shorter Shockwave version looks to focus a little more on inversions. 5 inversions over 1095 meters of track. It's no Smiler or Steel Curtain, but that makes the Next Gen model with the most inversions.
@@CoasterHipster yes, but you wouldn't say a rmc raptor is focused on inversions though it has 3 inversions over 548 meters of track. All i want to say is that the new vekomas are a mixture of inversions, airtime and transitions, there is (in my opinion) no focus on anything
@@flo5726 Agreed.
Personally, I believe a Space Warp coaster would be a perfect fit at my home park Warner Brothers Movie World. The park as you all know received the Mack Rides Hypercoaster DC Rivals in 2017 and so far haven't added anything to their lineup. I could definitely see the removal of the old Vecoma SLC, Arkham Asylum and it's replacement being the Vekoma Space Warp. Since the park is lacking any inversion based coasters, the SLC being the most with 5, the park would need something to rival the new Blue Fire clone going to Dreamworld. I'm not saying that it would entirely be the greatest fir for the park but it would certainly bring the guests to the park. I would like to see some sort of "The Flash," theme continuing on the DC theme the park goes with. It would have a similar colour theme to that of Intimidator 305 but would have a glossier paint to differ from Superman Escape. I would much rather see a Mack Rides Spinning Coaster as a replacement to Arkham Asylum for Villiage Roadshow Entertainment has a very close relationship with them after The Storm, Scoobie-Doo and DC Rivals. But a Vekoma Space Warp would certainly be a thrilling launch coaster that would fit nicely into Movie Worlds Lineup. Awesome video! Definitely could see one coming to BGT as a low to the ground-based coaster.
Doubt since the company is investing into Sea World now
Seaworld San Diego might get a vekoma launch coaster since they’re replacing wild arctic with a launch coaster so the launch coaster might be a vekoma one
All these parks feel like they could get a vekoma I don’t know why but they all feel that way! Nice video btw
Tell me that a Vekoma Spacewarp at Kentucky Kingdom wouldn’t be a good idea they are cheap, small so doesn’t hit height restrictions and also their first launch in the park 🤷♂️
I just hope Ed Hart would approve of it, since I've heard he's not the biggest fan of launch coasters.
@@josephreed6746 how can he not like launch coasters. They're great
SFNE could be a candidate for maybe a space warp. New England desperately needs a launch coaster to round out the top three, a space warp could probably fit into the space where Goliath currently is. The main question is, can Six Flags afford to put a brand new Vekoma in a mid-tier park during a recession?
if i could make a vekoma coaster i would make it very smol, put it in my backyard, and make it orange and blue (my channel colors)
Amazing video!!
The vekoma SLC, like mindbender, my favorite coaster (XD)
Great video!
Good video I have been listening to talkin’ trimless and I really like it (sometimes I fall asleep to it lol)
I’d get a new gen Vekoma flyer like F.L.Y. name it Lunar Slipstream, give it a space theme, and have it painted darker blue and silver. It wouldn’t be super tall and it would have a few themed indoor sections where you fly by the moon and a few other outer space themed things. It would have some really fast launches and maybe a drawn out barrel roll to go with the high speeds
Has Vekoma given a job to this guy yet?Cause they should
Six flags great adventure.. they need to remove green lantern, send it to Darien Lake and convert it to a flourless coaster. Then build a shockwave in its place.
Europe-wise, I feel like one of these new Vekoma’s would fit very well at a smaller French park like Nigloland and Walygator, especially to rival Parc Asterix’s Intamin launch coming soon
vekoma shockwave at my backyard with a bright pink so i can flex on everybody
Glad to see Wonderland on the list. We absolutely need a big launch. As you stated about Backlot, it's for the families. Backlot on Wonderland can't be the only launch coaster in a park with so many coasters. Question is, where would a coaster fit? The park is limited in space and there doesn't seem to be much indication of them demolishing anything soon.
I have to say they are starting to have a lot of these new Vekoma coasters in Europe. I don't care which parks they come to but it's time we bring them to America.
Vekoma boomerang at six flags New England, I think they need a third one
aaron S06 my name is also Aaron
Good joke, now get rid of Wicked Cyclone and put a third Boomerang in there to fit with Goliath and Flashback😂😂😂
If Six Flags works with Vekoma again, they could add a firestorm or probably even a shockwave model at SFNE. As it needs a launch coaster and for me, I would like to see a next gen Vekoma in my home state, Massachusetts.
@@xcoasterenthusiast i could see it also at Over Georgia and Mexico. They need launch coasters and the new gen Vekomas aren't crazy expensive.
I could see Six Flags go to Vekoma and get some Space Warps to parks like Over Texas,Over Georgia,Mexico and New England and get the Firestorm/Shockwave to the lead parks like Fiesta Texas or Great Adventure maybe.
Great video😍💋❤👍
I wish Six Flags New England or even Six Flags New Jersey/Great Adventure would get a Vekoma Launch.
the launched coaster would be amazing at canadas wonderland, considering the fact that backlot stunt coaster is actually the only launched rollercoaster in canada so it would be a nice addition to canadas wonderland
Six Flags New England needs a launch coaster! Ether a S&S Air Launch model (ala Maxx Force) with an original layout, or a Vekoma Firestorm. But both Flashback and Goliath need to go! Because I imagine it being located in the Crack Axle Canyon area, and being themed to a snake.
A Bermuda Blitz. HersheyPark. 200ft tall, midnight blue supports with deep orange track. 10 inversions themed to hard candy.
I feel that if Lagoon decides to get one of these it would be a good fit...
I think Canada's wonderland is landlocked, so cedar fair should get rid of time warp and flight deck and replace it with a Vekoma Bermuda blitz or something like that. There isnt a ton of space in that location so they could go with a Bermuda blitz over a shockwave. To answer the question: I would build a 130 foot Bermuda blitz there that has 6 inversions, around 3,700 feet of track, and it would replace time warp and flight deck. The colour scheme would be a gold-ish color for supports, and a black track. I would name it Black Mamba
Vekoma didn't just take the Arrow track, Arrow licensed it to Vekoma and allowed them to use it to build and sell Coasters in Europe on their own under the condition that Arrow has the exclusivity to deliver the Trains for Coasters build by Vekoma. That's also the reason why some older Boomerrangs use Arrow trains, like the one at Knott's had, and never instalations featured Vekoma trains from day 1 because those where build after Arrow went bankrupt. Only a few of the old Vekoma Loopers are still running with Arrow trains, like i.e. Comet at Walygator Parc in France, most others where upgraded to either the newer Vekoma Train with hard OTSR's or even the newest generation with Vest restraints.
this video seems unfinished. you should put background music in your vids again.
Lessardo Thanks for the feedback! I’m just trying out different things!
Energylandia: *laughing in Europe knowing that they are vekoma’s faves*
Don’t come at me, but it’s kind of true, they did give them two very new models and they were the first park to get them so well 🥱
Space Warp, Rock'n'Rollercoaster Renovation at Hollywood studios, Make it a bit longer and faster than Formula one, but it would be a cheap any easy way to change an outdated ride with a new theme, as well as be able to expand on something that the park already owns.
You were damn right bout my fav par bgt
Hersheypark could really use a multi launch coaster, but I think they would go with Intamin. Also how smooth are these models for anyone that has ridden them. They look very smooth, but povs can be deceiving
From everything I have heard, all of the new Vekomas are really smooth, and with the change of the track, they should stay smooth for quite a bit.
Vekoma Space Warp will go to Six Flags New England to replace both Goliath and their other boomerang. Goliath will either be scrapped or go to La Ronde as that is where they dump their failed coasters, and their other boomerang will go to Frontier city, as they do not have one already.
Theme park media I got a question, I love your channel logo! How did you make it?
Vekoma Yay! :)
A small one that’s Orange with blue supports in the place of Steamin’ Demon at Great Escape
I believe that Kings Island should get a Vekoma launch as that park doesnt have a lot to offer when it comes to launches (FoF and BSC)
Honestly I think most likely would be Disney's California Adventure for the new avengers E ticket attraction in the form of a launched flying coaster
Would love to see a Shockwave at Kings Island. 150+ feet tall. Seven inversions. Blue and Orange, Vortex 2.0
I wonder if sansei would allow a vekoma model over here or if they would try to get S&S to do something as close as possible
Vekoma is building 2 coasters in America right now, so i don't really see the problem
@@schagerbaantje they have a long standing deal with Disney. And they have built a couple family suspended coasters here but s&s doesnt do those
As you said in your vid,it looks like Sansei is using S&S for America with the compressed air launch coaster, the hyper,4D free spin and Axis coaster(ex,the free spin clones,Maxx Force,Steel Curtain),while the LSM launch Vekoma coasters/modern looping coasters seem to be in for European and Asia markets(ex,Formula,Abyssus,Lech Coaster, etc.)
A little late to the party, but I wouldn't mind Wild Adventures getting a space warp. No more than 70-80ft. Dark blue and grey
I think the other coaster manufacturers already have the launch market cornered in the NA coaster market, so the model that will mark nu-Vekoma's breakthrough into the NA market will be their new flying coaster.
Vekoma is building 2 new launch coasters in NA right now tho
"well, no, a vekoma doesnt spin" haha
Samurai: A red and Black, 145 ft tall, 170 ft drop, 3-5k feet of track, 63 mph, 5 inversions including a jojo roll, and a bunch low-to-the-ground airtime hills and curves. Kings Island 2024, Tallest double launch coaster in Ohio? (Vortex replacement)
I could see a space warp going to dorney park it would be nice to something go in stingers old. Layout would be around 120 feet and they would name it Fire hawk
I think that roller coaster is coming to Busch gardens Tampa Florida
I wish y'all me of these new vekomas would be the reincarnation of Drachen Fire at bgw I think it'd be a nice fit.
I definitely think Kentucky Kingdom would be a park to get something like a space warp. The park doesn’t shy away from using lesser known models like lightning run.
You forgot Six Flags Over Georgia!
Vekoma is realy great right now, i hope they dont clone everything but i think there already are some custom rides incomming like Hals-Uber-Kopf at Tripsdrill and F.L.Y at Phantasialand
I want a shoutout but I already subscribed what should I do?
One park I love to see one is Kentucky Kingdom. But I don’t see that happening with the current owner and his take on launched
i think a bermuda blitz at holiday world next to thunderbird 🤘🤘🤘
What do u think about Hershey?
Vekoma Spacewarp: Grayish yellowish color: CLIFFS AMUSEMENT PARK Name: Rocky Mountain Rumble
Also 110 ft
Theme park media you’re in my top 10 favorite coaster youtubers! I’ve been subbed for 4 ish months:) and I’ve been wanting a really solid channel logo for awhile now and I thought maybe you can make one for me? I will buy your sticker. It’s ok if you say no I will still love your channel. Can you at least tell me how I could make my own?
Max Thrills If you want to make a channel logo, I recommend you learn Pixlr. (Pixlr.com/old/editor) it’s a mini photoshop and if you learn it then you can make some pretty cool stuff!
Thanks:) I’ll try my best! In the long run I wanna make merch for my channel so is it illegal to use other people’s pics in my logo and sell it on a t shirt
I think SFOG really needs one
I personally don’t think a Mack spinner is coming to Dollywood. None of the coasters at one park are the same mode as the other’s except blazing fury and fire in the hole but those are older. I would like to see a modern vekoma launch or blitz come to Dollywood tho
7:50 firestorm, kings Island, western theme
Why no Six Flags parks? They do still work with Vekoma. I can see any of them getting one, minus Magic Mountain.
uhhhhhh u forgot Six Flags. I could see SFGADV get one as their only launch coaster is Kingda Ka and that is an extreme launch coaster.
Vekoma Hyper at SFFT, Light Blue and 220ft tall
A Family Boomerang (normal or dueling) or a Family Inverted to the New Mirabilandia at Pernambuco, Brasil.
I mean, you guys from north america and Europe and basically all the others parts of the world except south america are so lucky. You guys have so many coasters and options and have new things every new year. For us it's so unfair. The last big roller coaster we got in Brasil was a SLC by Vekoma in 2008. And it's still our biggest coaster in the country to date. Just to have an idea.
It's so disappointing :( especially knowing that our country has a lot of potential to amusement parks.
FIRST!
ItaiKoasterFanatic 🤯
I would like to see one at sea world SD or SA
vekoma space warp at sfstl. 80-100 feet and 50-60 mph. and it would be blue and green. also love the vids keep up the dope work
I could see Worlds of Fun getting one they have no:
launched coasters
coaster less than 11 years old
real standout / people attractor coaster
Not even to mention that Six flags Saint Louis has Mr Freeze and SDC has Time traveller and Powder Keg, it would have to be something good to compete with those three
SIx Flags Over Georgia desperately needs a launch coaster.... I think a space warp would work perfect because of the height limit on this park and with the financial situation Six Flags Corp is in they can spend lil money for a big thrill...
I could see six flags New England’s getting one
Fire bird, it would be orange and blue, and be named ice bird
But they've used the "new" track design for some coasters in the 80's and 90's as well.
The only appropriate answer is Wild Adventures in Valdosta.
What happened to that amazing intro u used to have in ur vids
Unstopable_ The music got copyrighted
QOTD: A Vekoma SLC. Make it yellow and orange and put it at SFA.
Jk
Right now I don't think new Vekomas will come to America in the near Future. Cedar Fair is really strict with the manufacturers they Work with (I don't even think they will Work with rmc again in the near Future due to SteVes Problems)And don't have a good History with Vekoma. For Six Flags... well... They Work with S&S so I wouldnt expect them to suddenly Go with Vekoma. Next Up are the Seaworld parks and they seem to be working with Premier and Intamin for their Launch coasters. But I think they will pay the extra Money for Intamin and use Premier for the smaller coasters. For Herschend it seems to likely that the next coasters for their Parks are something different. But they are the only Chain I could see one in the future.
However the only park where I truly believe a Vekoma Launcher is a real possibility is Kentucky Kingdom. They Like to Go the Special Route and try something new. and they don't have a Launch coaster yet. So they would fill a Gap in their Lineup. And seeing how their Last coaster was a Family coaster with Kentucky Flyer Theres a high chance the next one will be a thrilling coaster.
Steel Vengeance had problems. Railblazer and Twisted Timbers did not. A record breaking coaster have a few issues during it first year is not uncommon for any manufacturer.
Intamin's products had significant injuries and deaths. Which is why Cedar Fair doesn't work with them anymore.
@@Eaglescout217 cedar fair is extremely strict and even the slighest Problems keep them away from working with a manufacturer. And iirc Twimbers Had some Problems aswell but I could be wrong. And Intamin and Cedar fair wont Work together because of Maintenance (maintenance is still Bad today (See Hyperion)) and two Ride modifications shortly before or after opening (Maverick and I305) but Intamin doesn't stand for injuries and Deaths
A 235ft tall 79mph orange track and white supports
0 inversions vekoma hyper full of airtime and intensity
And I would put it in flamingo land in England in the uk
Alton Towers. Just anything to replace Rita.

I think Busch gardens Tampa Florida hasn’t been working with vekoma for 20 years
They worked with vekoma? What ride?
I think that Busch gardens Tampa Florida is getting vekoma launch roller coaster
What about Disney
A theroy
Orlando and Universal or Disney
Definitely not Energylandia
Video volume sucks
