AUSTERITY NEVER ENDED!!
The then Government closed all of the local HMRC offices about 10 years ago along with a lot of very skilled staff that could help tax payers as well going after tax dodgers etc. Now there is very little enforcement possible. They relied on a robust computer system which does do the job but there are too few staff in the right places to be an effective compliance force.
Now tax payers have to rely on a very weak call centre system if they need help and talk to somebody.
They make the system as complex and frustrating as possible to detere people from claiming benefits imo. Some people have no choice to claim benefits due to caring for family members or illness.
I trust Starmer will step down today at his liars speech 🙏🇬🇧
