  • "I'm not going to have it": Judge Barbara Bellis threatened to hold both the plaintiffs' attorneys and Alex Jones' attorneys in contempt of court if they don't stop the comments to each other in front of the jury. "Do you expect me to lay silently when they're directed at me inappropriately?" attorney Norm Pattis responded.

It makes sense Jones would hire a lawyer with the maturity of a 5 year old.

    • Donald Becker
      Donald Becker 11 days ago

@Markieff Morris Jones' lawyer is very highly paid to push the limits of behavior to get a favorable outcome, no matter how unwelcome he makes himself for other cases.
His reputation will ensure that someone else will hire him to do the same thing in some other court.

"Do you expect me to lay there silently while these are directed at me?" Well, yes actually. That's how court works, it's not a back and forth. When one attorney is speaking; the others, ie you, are supposed to shut up unless you are objecting.

    • Roboto San
      Roboto San 8 days ago

@Pedro De La Flor Took literally no time at all, as nothing in my reply was copy/pasted. If you think it was, feel free to copy/paste what I wrote into Google yourself.
On a more personal note; among the last things I'd do in a discussion is copy/paste something I don't _completely understand_ and/or *not* cite it as a quotation. The former is the exactly the kind of thing Jones does, whether he knows it or not.
The very last thing I'd do is lie, especially about a subject that is so easy to research. Several famous law schools have created websites dedicated to explaining how the law works to lay people. There are also dozens and dozens of trials available to watch, many right here on RUclips.
You can tell yourself whatever you want about me. It won't change the fact that you've actually been the one misapplying misunderstood "knowledge". (In case you forgot, remember when you said only the defense could request the judge be recused/removed? Let's also not forget you seem to think a legal objection can be made, without that word, and _while talking to the plaintiff's lawyer._ )
Lastly, it's odd how you seem to think that only lawyers should be commenting here in this public discussion. Does that mean you're really an incompetent lawyer, or just holding everyone else to your double-standard?

@Roboto San He said scope. He doesn't need to say the word objection. The judge knows that by saying scope he's making an objection and what his objection is based on.

This execrable defense attorney appears to WANT to be held in contempt. He has shown the judge ZERO respect since the beginning. I suppose she is trying her best not to hoold him in contempt because Jones would simply scream about it. I don't see how she is going to be able to refrain from doing so, however.

It is extremely frustrating when opposing counsel breaks decorum like this, but it is best to bring it to the court's attention and not return fire.

    PROFESSIONALISM 101
Any first year family law attorney would know that the appropriate way to deal with inappropriate comments by opposing counsel is to immediately stop what you are doing and when the other counsel is done speaking, ask the judge if you may approach the bench. Do NOTHING until that request is granted.

Lawyers try to bully judges to affect decisions. This is a tactic to force a mistrial or appeal. Even if the Bully is sanctioned or held in contempt, they have achieved jury influence.

  • John Cherskov
John Cherskov 15 days ago +1

I sort of respect the lawyer. Stand up for yourself. The fact the judge can't or doesn't have anything shows a lot. If they were really in contempt they'd be already dismissed or something else. What are these comments even like 'hurr durr he has a pony tails!!' who cares. You know I used to be that shaved head clean crew person when younger but I would rather have longer hair now as well, as a pro who's like top 5% in the USA at my work, not a lawyer, but just saying. That is someone who knows his stuff and probably doesn't even have to be there. Respect for defending this case and even regarding this case is all people butthurt over some commentary (and that's basically all it is). Real criminals and lawyers aren't being held accountable and you're just going after some guy who sortof said the truth like that people get a bit too crazy over these shootings, maybe he was a bit overboard but all he has to do is say 'sorry', it's not like some major crime was done lmao. Granted Alex Jones is a bit crazy and not that smart with what he says but I think it's mostly a witchhunt going overboard anyway. Sometimes in America you could have like some cult of women and some bald headed cancer patients who all think they know how the world works but never grew up beyond the age of 19-20 mentally, they all think they're right but those people they critique are way better than them in a lot of ways. As a recovering office work cultist I concur it's better to have long hair, resilient, and live off the land than to be dependent and subservient; some of these people are cultists their whole life but more intellect = you realize it sooner. These people acting all offended half of the time seem like they're straight out of a beavis and buthead parody.

The judge is the mediator the judge is the person everyone talks to and the lawyers are not meant to speak to each other, this attorney felt he could push both the other lawyer and the judge even going as far as to ask if we were done here. I respect this judge for taking a minute to compose themselves and then push back on Alex Jones's attorney. He is on thin ice telling the judge what he will and won't do, I expect to see contempt charges and I expect the judge to tell the jury many times to disregard comments, this will put Alex's defense in a bad light with the jury.

That’s absolutely WILD. Homeboy has 0 respect for the judge. How distasteful on his part. I agree with what one of the other commenters said: Someone get the judge a champagne cocktail, she’s having to put up with way too much from these clowns 🤡

I don't know what was said by the attorneys that caused them to go at each other from this video. I think that matters. Sometimes one side antagonizes the other like players do in basketball when the ref isn't looking. I need to have more information.

The attorney asking questions is referring to a different video. Jones' attorney objects and says it is beyond the scope, because that attorney can't just bring up other videos that weren't discussed before cross-examination. The attorney claims it is the 'same video', and Jones' attorney points out that it isn't. It was a different exhibit.

I was watching it live. To be honest, you'd miss what was said other than interrupting each other like kids.

It's amazing how many far right personalities are in courts, under investigation, or have been found guilty/liable. I can think of very few Liberals in similar circumstances. Doesn't pay to be a criminal.

Several family members are attorneys. They all have the same advice. If you have to choose between p---ing off God, or p---ing off a judge, choose God.
