Wow. I think this may be your best video yet, Mr. Distinguished. I am dumbfounded as to how you don't get more views, because you know how to make a cocktail recipe into a Ken Burns documentary. Please sir, keep up the good work!!
Going to have to give this drink a try. Looks great. It seems in all the recent videos, each piece of your bar equipment is being upgraded. Really love the production value of this video, perfected up an extra notch once again.
I made this drink- very tasty! It should be noted that Joe Scialom's run-ins with the authorities in Egypt were likely related to the fact that he was Jewish. Most Jewish Egyptians were kicked out of the country in the 1950s.
It was because he was rubbing elbows and a confidant of the former ruling class, particularly the former king. So, the new government thought he was in league with the old government.
Nice another great tiki drink, and with Scotch 🤩 have to try it... Thanks mate May throw another contender in the „M1“ Diskussion? The M1 is the prime motorway that runs through Briten
Hahaha. Nice idea. I guess it makes about as much (or as little) sense as any other explanation. Give the drink a try. Let me know how it turns out. Cheers!
The M1 is actually a motorway. It was the first inter-urban motorway to be completed in the UK connecting Leeds to London. Boring I know but I’m guessing that’s the connection.
Would any of the Johnnie Walkers work in this? I've wanted to try this cocktail for awhile now and my best friend turns 30 next weekend. He and I grew up watching Bond films and thought I could make a few these. I can get small bottles of JW at my liquor store which would be more economical for me at the moment.
For sure. Johnnie Black will work well. Double Black would be better, but I don't think they make smaller bottles of that one. Either way, don't sweat it. Make it work for your budget. Let me know how it turns out! Cheers!
@@DistinguishedSpirits I ended up buying JW black. But kind of wishing I spent the additional six dollars on the 750 The Famous Grouse Smoky, but also don't know if that would have been over peated for the drink. I ended up using mandarins as well, but I think they're all in the same family. We all enjoyed the drink and were surprised how much the peat cut through all the citrus juice. Will definitely add this one to the rotation.
@@afinecupofcoffee8476 Nah. It wouldn't have been over peated. You'd be fine. They are going to have a similar smoke level. It's actually not as easy to find lightly peated blends. The Great King St. Glasgow Blend is such a favorite of mine because it's smokier than JW Black, but not as smoky as Laphroaig or something. It's a really solid balance. And it's usually $32-$35 for a 750, so it's still affordable enough to mix with...if you can find it. Anyway, glad liked the drink. Cheers!
I thought about that. I didn't know of any connections in the books or the first three movies that would've tied the "One" part of the name together with Bond's boss. There was also a British submarine called an M1, which may have had a connection to Fleming, who was in the navy, but the sub was built during WWI and sank in the 1920's.
Haha. What's funny is, I thought you were calling me Macho Man and wanted the next one just as this one was coming out. But know I get it, you really liked the Macho Man drink from Death and Co and wanted to see that one as the next video. Makes more sense. That one won't be next, but I can't wait to give it a try. Sounds wild!

These have become so much more than cocktail recipe videos. I really enjoy them.
The history is really fun on this one. Glad you dug it.
And yet another great video.
The information and the way it is presented is absolutely brilliant; as usual. More, more, more!!!!
You're just biased because of your username. Haha.
Thanks for the love. Cheers!

Thank you for the kind words and support. Glad you dug the video. It was a fun one to do. Cheers!
We need more if your videos ! Always top notch quality!
You upgraded your small knife! Yes!
Indeed. The knife geeks won and I got something a little more substantial. Glad you liked it.
Glad the other knife geeks like it too. :'D But how do you like it? Feel any difference in the performance?
It's great. Definitely worth picking up. I'm only sorry that it took me so long to grab one. Haha.
How the hell can a cocktail recipe video be this facinating? Bravo
Hahaha. Thanks! Yeah, I really loved the story on this one. Glad you agreed. Cheers!
Definitely raised the bar with this vid.
Thank you! Glad to hear you liked it so well.
I just have to say that I love your channel, good sir. The combination of how-to with a detailed history is right up my alley.
Awesome! Glad to hear you dig it!
Shaken not deterred I'm gonna give this one a sip
🍹🙌
Really great content on this channel. Keep up the good work!
This video made me realize, we are in need of more 1930s pulp adventure films in exotic locations.
Yeah we do. Haha. I'd watch that movie.
I love these videos so much that I don’t skip the ads. Keep up the outstanding work!
Hahaha. Thanks for the love. Cheers!
Cocktails and Tiki Galore - I guess you can't ask for more ;) Great to have you back with another video!
Haha. You cannot. Glad you dug it. Cheers!
Thank you for this video of most distinguished spirit.
all your videos are soo good!! this one is story is crazy
Awesome! Thanks so much. Yeah, this one had such a fascinating story. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love it's simplicity
Yeah! So simple, yet so tasty. Cheers!
A great video! Very engaging narrative!
Glad you liked it. Cheers!
Definitely grabbing some tangerines next time I'm out so I can try this. Looks so good!
For sure! Let me know how it turns out.

I know I pester you a lot about tiki drink videos, but it's because of things like this that make me want them so much.
Haha. Yeah, people seem to dig Tiki. This one was an esoteric one, but the story behind it was just too good. Cheers!
Amazing video!!!! Awesome content and great recipe!
Excellent! Thank you!
"A drink to take the Spy out of the Cold."
Fantastic.
Works on a couple levels. Haha. Glad you liked that one.

This sounds delicious! Oof, might have to try this today.

Yeah, someone else brought that up as well. I'm not sure what that has to do with Bond, but I guess it makes as much sense as the weapon.
M1 catbines were widely used by operatives, especially when in support role or wshtf . Name could also be that since M is nr 1.
Haha. Yeah. Had that same thought about Bond’s boss. Still a bit of a head scratcher.
Can I use clementine juice instead of tangerine juice? Wouldn't they work exactly the same?
Been waiting for this one!
Hopefully, it was worth the wait. Cheers!
Every time I show your videos to the uninitiated they’re always baffled why you don’t have more views and exposure.
Thanks for sharing and giving me more exposure. Cheers!
OMG! I feel like I just went to the movies! LOL! I love it! And who would not like this?!?!?!? (SMH)
Haha. Thank you! Glad you liked it so well.
Give the drink a try and let me know how it turns out. Cheers!
M is also James' boss (somebody probably already pointed this out).
Yeah, I thought about that, but I couldn't figure out how it was connected to "one".

Ha, that dude had to be a spy.
Which one? Scialom? The Egyptians seemed to thinks so...
What is the music under the video?
The music credit is in the Description of the video, but here you go:
Retro Adventures 2 by Jonatan Järpehag
Maybe the name of this drink was inspired by M himself?
I thought about that. I didn't know of any connections in the books or the first three movies that would've tied the "One" part of the name together with Bond's boss.

why do you put the accent on the last syllable on each and every word ?
YES!!
🙌
Why is this not a movie?
Haha. Maybe some day...
Macho Man next please. :)
Damn. Chill. Haha.
