@@TheBigburcieI currently cook on an 1/8” aluminum trash can and that thing will purr at 250° for a good 8 hours with a 10” terra cotta pot of lump. So I’m no longer worried about 3/16” or 1/4” if I ever buy a real pit.
Bradley, I have been following your channel since you had 5000 followers. Gotta hand it to ya brother. You have come a long way. I wish you nothing but continued growth and success... ✌️
Was thinking the same thing. I've seen grills/boxes with a crank and tracks that allows you to raise/lower the coal bed. As long as the travel distance was long enough, you could position the coals in ChudBox or ChudGrill territory. Just adds weight/cost/complexity (more things to corrode or break) to the unit.
I agree, but to make it that way you have to buy a bunch of accessories and it will still use more charcoal trying to grill with it. So if you primarily want to grill, Chud grill is still the way to go.
@@andrewr2650once I saw the rivets, that steered me back to the box. Plus raw steel is just nice to take care of, like a carbon steel pan, or fiddle leaf fig.
I have the Chudbox and love it, the old style cooking chicken, pork steaks and mopped ribs can not be beaten imo. I made my own grill basket for coals and does high heat sear very well.
I respect that you make the cookers locally. Price wise, yeah they aren’t cheap, but I’ve priced steel to do a build like that and it’s a lot of money just for the materials. One of these days I might have to pick up a chud box. Would love to see you bring back the pits, though. I’m more in the market for a pit to replace my old country pecos.
That slidey grate from the grill would be awesome to have for the chudbox. EDIT: You literally showed what I wanted the entire time in this video. Props.
It was great seeing all of the merch stuff. I'm so happy for y'all's success. Someday I'll contribute to it more with a Chud Box purchase. For now, you're my one-stop-shop for rubs.
Geez, the Chud shop and warehouse is looking amazing. I ordered some Chud Rub and both L&L sauces recently and made some of my best pulled pork ever. That stuff is gold, thanks for having it available on the site. Looking forward to seeing who else you'll be stocking in the future. BTW, I'm soooo jealous of Bones' job. I'd love to be behind the camera and I do marketing and advertising as my full time career but in a much less fun and interesting industry. Y'all look like you're having a blast. Keep it up!
Any plans to update the Box with the sliding tabs like on the grill? That would help for those who want to use it more like a vertical/barrel smoker for low and slow cooking.
I would choose the Chudbox, namely because I am a huge fan of direct heat BBQ. Direct heat/mopped pork steak is one of the best things I've ever eaten: thanks for showcasing that style of cooking on your channel.
@ I feel like I was a relatively early subscriber - not sure how to check but love the style, inspiration and watching the growth over the years. If you ever need anything physical therapy, just let me know. Cheers
+1 for stainless Chudbox 2.0 with sliding vents. In the meantime, please fab an elevated coal platform system that fits in the current firebox to get the coals closer to the cooking surface, would prefer this to the current coal basket.
If it had a lever on the side of the chudbox to raise/lower a charcoal plate/basket like lonestar, pitts'n'spitts (not a winder like the hasty bake), it would be the new king
Love the content! A question about the Chud grill. Is the grate the coals sit on removeable? If so, would this allow you to put the coals on the very bottom where the ashes fall? Thus, making it similar to the Chud box? Thanks in advance!
The bottom pan is solid, so not as good for airflow, probably. Also likely not as robustly built to take that kind of direct heat. But I wonder how the grill could be designed to enable the coal grate to move up and down to adjust the distance to the cooking surface.
Yes there are 2 internal parts to hold the coals that are removable, this would give you about 9 inches between bottom and cooking grate. Definitely not Chudbox distances but could get you slightly closer to direct heat
The Chud Box would be my choice as it is a bit unique in cooking style. A PK grill would work fine for just a five-inch direct, cross-flow grill, albeit without the same ease of fire management.
I do love direct heat cookers, nothing mimics that flavor 🐖 Fulfillment side for other influencers is a really smart move...I would think all this should come together quite well for Chud Co.
Fantastic video. You're killing it, Chud. Not many creators willing to have such a variety of content. I think you have a great cast of characters - so keep it up! Bones is great and the rest of your circle is great too.
I've been watching for years and given hundreds of Likes 👍. It has really been awesome watching you grow your business. And your so fortunate to have a great partner/friend like Bones. Appreciate the tour and I will definitely be ordering some Black Friday stuff. Definitely would be ordering the Chud Box vs the grill when that day comes. Peace!
I've been watching since you had your cutting board on two tables stacked up. You have come a long way and I have been along for the ride. Keep it up and Happy Thanksgiving.
All of the inside footage in the secondhalf of the video has a weird squeaky noise in the background... probably the camera mount or mic mound coming loose id guess? I dunno, just thought id let ya know if you didnt figure ut out already
I have the Chudbox and it is my favorite cooker. Love that you can do both direct heat cooking and also grilling/searing. I got the painted version and I keep it pretty clean and covered. My only complaint is that the paint seems to chip and still rust through. Any advice on fixing and maintaining that?
Picking up my ChudBox on Saturday in Austin, would be cool to see you there Bradley. Either way, looking forward to meeting Nick. Got lots of questions on the box and plan to pick up some stuff from the store too.
At this time, we don't have plans to offer a stainless steel version due to the significantly higher production costs, which would make it less accessible to our customers.
If money was no concern?! I would want both of them! Lol I always want to use the best tool for the job. Contrast to how I work on my day job for my hobbies I do something chase perfection over good enough or at least until I get frustrated and then I do good enough lol.
I personally would go with the Chudbox. It just gives more options on cooking methods and I do like to smoke, make sausage, and direct heat chicken is the best. When it comes to burgers and hot dogs I have a propane grill that is fast and easy to use for that.
As amazing as your pits are, I feel the need to question how effective the notches are on the air intake latch. Growing up with a woodstove, the difference in airflow from the bottom ash door only came in the following forms on a cam style latch: half latched, unlatched but still closed, unlatched and cracked open 1/4”. Everything after that was the same, or wide open. So when I see latch slots 1/2” apart, I have to question their use or effectiveness. I would just think that they need to be much tighter together. I wasn’t there though and maybe you all tested that already so forgive me if I’m wrong on this. I wish I could afford a Chud box, but my aluminum office trash can is getting me by for now. You’ve created an amazing product and business model, and a great channel so thank you.
I propose we name the forklift the ChudLift. And of course Bones is ChudLift certified. Alternately, we could go with ChudFork, but I really feel like you could use that name on a future product.
It would be cool if Brad would do a giveaway for one of his cookers. I know it’s not the most original idea but I would buy some of his less expensive items for a chance to win.
The Chudd grill at $1850 is starting to compete directly with smaller kamados but lacks kamado capabilities. Also, this also seems to match up well with a PK 360, which is significantly less. The chudd grill is great but is it a great value?
Why not just add the vents from the grill to the box and brackets for an adjustable coal bed and the sliding grates? Then the chud box could do like 99% of what the grill can do.
Long-time Chuds fan and Patreon here -- I'm really proud of the growth of your business. So much talent and it deserves the success you're achieving.
Sounds like you need to make a stainless chudbox.
YES!!!!!! Depending on the percentage of cost difference, this would be my preference. I abhor rust and continuous maintenance.
A Chud Box in stainless? I’d get one of those!
The Chud box is a little heavier gauge steel which also helps with the heat stability.

Can't help but think, with a a little redesign of the chudbox, it could do everything the grill could... just say'n :)

Both look like great cookers, but I feel like the Chudbox seems more versatile.

Wish granted.
The Chud Box would be such a great addition. Half way between my offset and my direct heat. Someday...
I would go with the Chud Box. Something different that I can't easily achieve with the equipment I already have.
I'd never give up my Chud Box. It does everything amazingly well.
I would have to go with the Chud Box especially considering the new addition of the sliding grill grate.
It was great seeing all of the merch stuff. I'm so happy for y'all's success. Someday I'll contribute to it more with a Chud Box purchase. For now, you're my one-stop-shop for rubs.
So good to hear how you’re growing. Well done!
Couldn't afford either one, but I would pick the Chud grill. Like the grill and griddle plate idea

your big off set smoker would be my pick over all, im just broke XD

I would choose the Chudbox, namely because I am a huge fan of direct heat BBQ. Direct heat/mopped pork steak is one of the best things I've ever eaten: thanks for showcasing that style of cooking on your channel.
You know you’re big time when you get a forklift 😁👍
Not going to lie, I love seeing yall succeed. I've been a subscriber for so long I feel like I know yall personally lol. Good shit guys! 🤟🏼
Chud Box would be my first pick because of my cooking style but if I win the lottery I'm getting both!
Congratulations on the success of your business. It’s been fun watching your growth.
Thank you so much!!
@ I feel like I was a relatively early subscriber - not sure how to check but love the style, inspiration and watching the growth over the years. If you ever need anything physical therapy, just let me know. Cheers
I just sort of love how the Chudbox looks like a screaming robot with the door open.
Chudbox all day for me! I've learned not too long ago, i am a complete sucker for direct heat BBQ.
I really want a Chud Box, especially now that I know I can use the grill grates on it. It's pretty much an all-in-one cooker.
I can not say enough positive things about my Chud box. It has become my go to wing, rib cooker. I am a direct heat convert!
+1 for stainless Chudbox 2.0 with sliding vents. In the meantime, please fab an elevated coal platform system that fits in the current firebox to get the coals closer to the cooking surface, would prefer this to the current coal basket.
Infomercial-ish but the kind I voluntarily watch - love watching the growth!!
If I lived closer to Texas I would probably get the mini chud box. It would be perfect for me
If it had a lever on the side of the chudbox to raise/lower a charcoal plate/basket like lonestar, pitts'n'spitts (not a winder like the hasty bake), it would be the new king
Would love the option of a Chud Box in stainless steel - even at the extra cost. That would be my choice!

Wish there was a hybrid, having 2 different types is EXTREMELY UNNECESSARY
I have a Chud Box and I absolutely love it. I see that you forgot to mention the Rotisserie attachment, unless I missed it, for the Chud Box.
Yeah, Both the grill and the Box are rotisserie compatible
I'd have both, thanks. But the grill is higher on my list.

Haven’t watched the video yet but 100% the chudbox.
The box would be great for adding A? ROTISSIERE > That is my choice. Take another hit of speed to rattle on
Did I just hear a full size Chud box is in the works? Always wanted a mini but have hesitated due to the grill space. 🙏

Maybe one day I can afford either. Now since I run a weber kettle I would probably get chud box but would love both
If money was no concern I would have both! Why not have all the options.
Think I’d just go with the box and modify coal/wood level to cook the style I want. Could do hill country style AND direct grilling on same cooker.

Chud box for me with charcoal pan
I think the grill would probably suit me better. Definitely need to pop down to Austin at some stage.
Did you really scoop out a shovel full of ash, and then put it back to keep the video flowing? 😂😂 Classic!
BOTH if I had the money plus the chud press
Chudbox would be what I would choose. Shipping to Canada would be detrimental, let alone our horrific exchange rate.
Chudbox for me
BOTH
I’d take the Chudbox over the grill, but both look like great cookers.
If money is no option, I'm buying both!
Love this so much, so thank you for sharing!
I choose the offset in your backyard 😉
I’d buy both
not available in Australia so much as I may wish to try one or the other 🤔
I will go with the Chud Box!!!!👍👍✌✌

Fresh Batch Should Be Arriving Tomorrow!
Chud Box definitely. Love the grill but I believe I'd have more use for the Chud Box (which I hope to get one day). I'd like a Bones too

Great video. I have a pellet grill now, so a Chudbox would be my next addition as I want the flexibility to do long direct heat cooking.
Which one could replace the Weber Kettle?
Chudbox for sure
Stainless Chudd Box 2025?
At this time, we don't have plans to offer a stainless steel version due to the significantly higher production costs, which would make it less accessible to our customers.
