As a 24 year old who has been listening to Melanie since i was 15, i am genuinely curious as to how old her current fan base is…did everyone who grew up stopped listening to her? It doesnt make sense for me to think her demographic is still high school aged.

I love this so much. I love the ending how it seems like she is representing someone trying to control how she lives from behind a screen. It's so accurate from the behavior of her trolls and "fans". She is so beautiful and strong and I love everything she does for us. She deserves better.
LITERALLY, at the end of the mv the setting was an entirely different aesthetic, the video game format illustrates how Melanie’s “fans” are trying to pressure her into reverting back to her Crybaby/K-12 aesthetic, which clearly doesn’t work. woahh i loved how the theme was like a video game where people are trying to control your life just because you're a "celebrity" trying to tell you what you can and can't do. the "call them a bitch for being human" part really struck me. i know how much you recieved backlash for setting boundaries and i'm proud of you. continue to set those boundaries and let those people know that you're not a puppet to be toyed with.

tunnel vision is all about being manipulated, and that is what melanie perfectly portrayed in this music video - the whole time, she’s being told what to do, and everything good that happens is taken away like “fill their cup, take it away” or “give them flowers, take it away” and then the reference to crybaby and the tears fill up the room is reflecting on how hard it is to put up with the pressure of doing everything right and making she no one is upset, yet still, people will “call them a bitch for being human.”
Also I think the tears filling up the room might have been an Alice in wonderland reference too! Or maybe I'd like to think so since I love Mel and Alice in wonderland ❤️

I just am so in love with the way she shows how some artists are treated. Especially at 2:29 when a little icon pops up that says "Call them a b*tch for being human". I think that really portrays how artists are treated when they make a decision for themselves that makes them happy, that people don't like. I just love how it really portrays how artists are treated because I know it's a big problem. Now I even think it's not just artists who face this, but any big public figure or somebody with a fan-base. Melanie is just extremely gifted in showing real world problems in the form of a song.

When analyzing the clip, we can see that it is about the criticism and positive comments that her "fans" made about her appearance and her new style. Throughout the MV we notice small hearts that appear on the screen as everything progresses, as if they were stages in a game. In each heart there are different phrases that the player dictated during the game, as if he wanted to have control of the main character and do whatever he sees fit. Example: "Saying she's demonic." Many fans judged her due to her recent new look. Making unnecessary jokes and even stopping following along. "Give her long hair." After Melanie cut her hair, many fans didn't like it and again judged her for it. "Make her thin and tall." Some fans even made cruel jokes about her weight (Trying to import a standard that they thought was better.) "Make her smile all the time." Maybe this is because she no longer performs her shows without her mask. "Chase her to take a picture." Many people took photos and even went so far as to chase her to get a photograph, which made her uncomfortable. "You made me very upset." Your disappointment with the fans. In the end, the game ends after the player doesn't get what they wanted. However, you can see that the clip is about how far Melanie has gone before her career. The comments, judgments made frustrated and discouraged with their own success. This is a great analytical review of the video but we should remember that these songs were written long before she even released her creature appearance to us. One of my favorite thing about Melanie is the multiple ways her music can be interpreted. But I do think she often references his the fans and the industry expect so much from her and give nothing in return. Like show and tell and numbers
I love how this video feels like those web flash fairy games you'd play as a kid. Also that line "chase them for a photo", "you made them very upset", "call them a bitch for being human" I think is a reference to real life words toxic fans have said against her
This music video is so cool, the portals mvs just keep getting better. I loved the video game aesthetic and how the hearts she sent people are in the music video and create a story. I also liked how the little girl at the end represents the childish fans and internet users who choose to do everything that the heart stones say. The vibes and visual effects are amazing and so high quality. This mv made me realize that tunnel vision is about the general public objectifying Melanie rather than just men in her life. It's directed toward people who only see her as a celebrity or a sex doll rather than an actual human.

the theme really struck me because it was really just an interpretation of the lives of celebrities. their lives are like a video game where fans control them and this mv really brought that message out really well. after i watched the video, i had a feeling that melanie wanted this to be a sister video to show and tell. someone else in the comments had the same thought as me in the "call them a b***h for being human" as fans hate on famous people for having feelings.
A lot of people view celebs as commodities stripping their humanity from them. They look at them as a product and when they don’t produce they turn on them.

A lot of people were really unhappy with the portals album too because they couldn't take the sudden change in like.. aesthetics? theme?? Tunnel vision is my most anticipated music video for portals, I had so many ideas for what it could be, and this completely blew it all away, simply stuning, so visually consistent and mature in its mesage and delivery. It really feels like the character of crybaby has grown throught the eras, this is just another perfect example of the complex and powerful way Melanie is able to deliver messages. LITERALLY, at the end of the mv the setting was an entirely different aesthetic, the video game format illustrates how Melanie’s “fans” are trying to pressure her into reverting back to her Crybaby/K-12 aesthetic, which clearly doesn’t work. tunnel vision is all about being manipulated, and that is what melanie perfectly portrayed in this music video - the whole time, she’s being told what to do, and everything good that happens is taken away like “fill their cup, take it away” or “give them flowers, take it away” and then the reference to crybaby and the tears fill up the room is reflecting on how hard it is to put up with the pressure of doing everything right and making she no one is upset, yet still, people will “call them a bitch for being human.”

This is amazing, 3:30 reminds me of “Orange Juice” so much; the Melanie intertwines her past work with her present work is so admirable.
This music video is so cool, the portals mvs just keep getting better. I loved the video game aesthetic and how the hearts she sent people are in the music video and create a story. I also liked how the little girl at the end represents the childish fans and internet users who choose to do everything that the heart stones say. The vibes and visual effects are amazing and so high quality. This mv made me realize that tunnel vision is about the general public objectifying Melanie rather than just men in her life. It's directed toward people who only see her as a celebrity or a sex doll rather than an actual human.

my interpretation is that she’s playing a character that is a representation of all the perils of fame in the industry, having to create an image that sells or is wide spread. at the end, since “the creature” isn’t the typical archetype of what the industry wants her to be, the game malfunctions and the girl playing appears to be her as her original style, that she is frustrated she can’t escape the demands and being something different, love her 😭❤️💕

@@lavendercrossing235 yes she had a throat infection right before the concert of brussels, on the 19th so she canceled that concert but the concerts after brussel didn’t get canceled but because of her throat infection she couldn’t sing live only in some parts
@@gintonick2 well ofcourse she didn’t sing live, the concert of brussels got canceled and my concert was a day after (amsterdam) and she sang only in some parts, and at the end where she finally talked you could hear how bad her voice was not in the mean way but bc of the throat infection
