Sounds PERFECT for what I want. I do a lot of Motorcycle camping. So I was interested in using a solar panel and charge controller. I have viewed a LOT of videos here on RUclips on powering a ham radio using solar power and a bioenno battery, but I thought: "What about the other things that I need to power in the woods" The first three things I could think of was:
1. Laptop/Tablet.
2. Cell Phone.
3. GPS Satellite Communicator ( Spot or Inreach)
4. GPS
5. Flashlight/headlight
I would make sure all of this things are fully charged before I left on a trip but batteries always fail at the worst time.
This device coupled with a fold able solar panel seems like the PERFECT solution.
Nice review! I got the 120 Watt solar panel kit with a 20 Ah battery. I wouldn't want to hike with it but I can keeps my phone, and my IC 718 running all day with sunlight. The number is BSK-120 and it came with a brick for wall outlet charging, charge controller, battery, folding panels, carrying case for the panels, and cables. It's great for car camping.
I bought an AllPowers 300W portable Solar power station along with a foldable AllPowers 60W Solar Panel a while back after watching a YT's Will Prowse channel on these units pros and cons a while back...Fortunately I had shared the info and purchase with friends and family in Texas before the tragic cold snap that hit them...They were ready and they survived and were able to help other's....looking forward to your review on this unit.
These are great to have. After the Texas freeze I bought a 500w with 100w solar panels. I'd also like to get one of the larger ones that will power other appliances and heaters. They're quiet and can be kept in the house. The gas generators can be loud and stolen easily.
There's portable car battery jump starters with all the plug connections. You get this plus you can jump start a car.
This actually ain't that bad a deal, considering their 12v 12ah LiFePO4 battery is $125 by itself. Sure I could probably build a 13Ah 3S5P for about $50, but by the time you throw in a balancer, inverter and all the misc parts...why bother?
Car battery jump starters have all the same connections with more power and will jump start your car.
Great and informative video! I am going to go broke if you keep showing me all these awesome products lol.
ham channel buy buy keep it fun
LOL
@@stephenbrett4216 lol yup
Same thing for the rest of us.
Can I operate my Icom 7300 with this BP-160? Will I have to limit my power output to 40-50 watts (or less)? Thanks!
Could you do a similar review of the Rockpals power packs ?
Thanks
Is the AC Output Pure or Modified Sine Wave?
Just to let you know, if someone hits 👍, when the next commercial runs it’s taking out the previous 👍 and you have to hit button again. This is on iOs version.
Great video Jason and I am a big fan of Bioenno batteries! I have the 12Ah version to power portable Ham operations as well as at the Model flying Field to charge plane packs. Any feedback on RFI and EMI from this unit? Typically, the ones sold on Amazon to the general consumer market (not Bioenno) need their own call sign because everything in the unit emits a lot of grunge! I mean the inverter, Solar charge controller etc. make them unusable for field operations. General consumers could not care less about this. Just curious.... 73
No RFI any of the times I've used it
Stay away from this unit if you want to charge it with solar I have had two of them and they simply won't change using solar (using bioenno solar panel) . If you don't care about charging with solar it's a great unit.
Is the AC output pure sine wave?
too many adaptors to carry along... it should just have the appropriate industry standard port.
Great peice of kit.

Nice options!
If you lived in a apartment style condo and only had a 5x10 balcony and could have only one antenna which one would it be and why? Also, what is more important number of bands or watts/power? Thx
Antenna for what bands? VHF/UHF? Or HF?
For VHF/UHF, the Ed Fong j-pole is a good choice for lots of folks in apartments. For HF, it is gonna be harder to accommodate because those antennas are usually bigger, but you could go with a random wire if you had somewhere to string it to.
Most important number is actually receive gain, imo
How about a mpas or a f loop for hf? Is that f loop any good at 25 watts? Thx
Will it run a G90? Thanks in advance. How long?
It should run a G90, no problem.
Nice vid, just like all the other product reviewers who get free products or sponsors to show off their product. Put the damm thing to the test, put it in a real life scenario. Plug stuff in it. If i wanted product info, i’d visit the website. Actually use the damm thing.
I've been using it ever since this video and am already planning to make another video. Nothing says I'm limited to one video per product. The initial description and presentation video should always be first, though
gas generators don't regenerate gas either ;p ehehe.
looks cool. definitely in the market, just needs to be moar bigaggarrr
True but they aren't really called "gas" generators, they are just called "generators" and you can get ones that run on gasoline, propane or NG.
This is the smallest option Bioenno makes, he has several larger ones for larger needs.
I see I can re-charge it from the car and solar panels. How do I charge it on AC before I go camping ? Do I need to buy another accessory ?
Jason said it came with an AC wall wart/AC plug but he didn't have it in the video.
thx
No USB ?
nice!!!
can you charge ht how many cables
He doesn't list it on the website because, like every good engineer, he builds in a safety margin.
Maybe a sales person should be running the website. :P
Seriously though, there are 2 larger solar panels than the one he lists, plenty of margin for additional info.
@@HamRadio2 Or perhaps since it is his company it's ok for him to choose what he's comfortable listing and if someone is considering a larger solar matrix they can ask what the acceptable parameters are. It's not like he is unresponsive, right? :) I agree it doesn't make sense to call it a solar generator since it doesn't come with solar cells standard.
@@garrettswoodworx1873 You make it sounds like I was bad-mouthing the site, which I didn't do at all. The point I made in the video was that this unit would take a larger solar panel than what the website lists and the BPP-160 has a built-in charge controller so that is an added convenience.
