It's crazy how much of my childhood was defined by Blizzard games. I remember getting WC3 on vacation and practically memorizing the manual before we got back home and I could play it 😆

8:19 the kul Tiras island is so close to gilneas, ironfoge, and tol barad. But we never seen it until BFA.
My all time favorite game, played since I was like five. I still play regularly, wonderful campaign, custom games and world editor. Unfortunately, the reforged version was not what I expected, disappointed with it but the original version will be my favorite always.

I remember when Warcraft 1 was released but I never played it. That would be the same story with 2 and 3. I started with WoW in '06 but I have wanted to try and play the original Warcraft games for a while now.
When I was a kid, I always wondered if they'll ever release a World of Starcraft or Diablo. I mean, they could technically do the same for Overwatch, but it'll probably be similar to Destiny.

WC3 is just so good from the story to the gameplay to the modding
of course it's not perfect especially the story but I still consider it among the best
warcraft 3 reforged, tides of darkness mod is peak awesomeness, wish i could use the world editor using it lol... i played the fk outta warcraft 3 A TON as a pre-teen and teenager, warcraft 2 and to a lesser extent wolfenstein 3d and doom were my first ever games... followed my starcraft lol

And after all these time there is no War4. From a marketing standpoint and everything that got butchered in Wow regarding the lore in recent expansions for the Warcraft IP the best thing to do is to go back and make a War4 after TFT with a new timeline like Wow didn't happen. That would make way for people to see their favorite characters again like Arthas etc. But there is no one higher up at Blizz with a brain to make such a decision, and not enough talented people left in the company to make a great War4.

wasnt land of legends the war3 map that led to league of legends? i played that one a ton, dota maps back in the day for some reason were a bittttch to get into.

Yeah, many thing said here that shaped the RTS genre and online experience happened in Starcraft first. Dota map was in Starcraft first , map editor was in starcraft first. Starcraft became massive especially in Korea before Warcraft 3.
Starcraft also sold over 11 million copies which makes it one of the best selling pc games ever.
So if you ask me Starcraft was more Influential than Warcraft 3 in nearly every way

Maybe the most influential RTS in the gaming industry outside of the RTS genre, because the most influential RTS game in the RTS genre will always be Age of empires
Age of what? Nah fam, we all know the most influential is Warcraft. Sure Age is one of the first RTS, and is super important, but both Warcraft and Starcraft made the genre reach new places and even created new genres. Not denying Age's importance, but is nowhere near WC influence.
This is similar to Doom vs Half Life argument. Doom is one of the 1st ones, and realy helped the genre to be noticed. But when it came to influence the future of FPS, Half Life is the cornerstone. HL created Counter Strike. HL was the 1st one to have introduction cinematic, and the fact cinematics were woven in and not a cutscene. The fact that FPS can do more then just shoot and can have puzzles and an actual good story. Because of HL we also have Team Fortress, and because of that we have hero shooters now... or we would probably still be on the death match arenas lol.

I'd still say That Starcraft is by far the most influential RTS ever made. Most of the praises that were given here were in Starcraft first.
But fantasy genre thanks LOTR , HP and now GOT
are more popular (because it is based on our own common past, real history , myths, legends, medieval times with magic )
so Warcraft is more popular than SC2 ( fantastic genre is nice but it is about future and we are not living out of space)

Wrong! starcraft one sold 11million copies,Starcraft 2 sold 6million copies, warhammer 40k dawn of war sold 4 million copies and two different C&C sold over 3 million copies with age of empires 1 and warcraft 3 reign of chaos sold over 3 million copies too but it isn't even among top 3 so this is biased "documentary"
Pretty sure the point he was making throughout the video is that Warcraft 3 inspired so many other games through its platform. Dota, DOTA 2, League of Legends, and a lot more.

Influential argument would still lose in argument to herzig zwei as the first rts(as first and making the genre itself) or dune 2 which laid the ground works and inspiration to all major rts series like warcraft, starcraft, C&C and age of empires and you can extend the influence to all they influenced later.
as fan of warcraft series since warcraft 2 tides of darkness I love the series but as even greater RTS lover...
@@eternal1607 well dune 2(because of the great novel dune and the movie dune1984) is more "known" also alot more influental to rts game genre as it inspired and took rts game mechanics to a point it inspired nearly all great RTS series we know and love.
