It's on Gareth and his staff to prep and organize the players so they can execute.

The hate for Trent is laughable. Stones, Walker and Trippier get caught out of position just as often if not more but it's brushed under the carpet. Now you've got Rooney saying Trent is so bad at defending he couldn't play in a double pivot with Rice in front of the back 4! Then saying he wouldn't play him there against France, that's why England will never win a tournament. Bobby Robson or Terry Venable would stick him in, be brave, go out there and destroy the opposition, then sure it up with defensive subs later once we have a lead.
Trent simply doesn’t have the tools to play midfield in the big games. He needs time to lift his head up to be effective. He wouldn’t get that against the elite teams. There’s a reason klopp hasn’t played him there.
Banging on about the back 4 has me a bit confused. There’s City players on the right side and trippier can do a job. What they’re really saying is we don’t have a decent left sided centre half. That’s on Southgate, hes had plenty of opportunities to fit one in but hasn’t taken it. It’s a stretch to rope in two genuine world class defenders and say collectively they’re now a liability.
Does every reference to Hoddle have to be negative? In contrast, to other managers he was considerably younger, and his naivety in fact took us pretty far. Let’s face it, Sol’s goal should’ve won it.
Trent has to start RB with Walker RCB and Stones LCB with any option on the LB position. I think Trent unlocks all the formations/tactical flexibility. Kyle Walker is more than capable of looking after Trents defensive shortcomings from RCB, it will allow for Rice and Bellingham to play the double 6, allows for Foden to play the 10, the other front 3 you can pick based on the opposition. I'm shocked no one mentioned it.
I agree with Rooney, if want more attacking formation: Gordon as no:11 , Bellingham no: 8 and Foden as no:10. If defensive formation, mainoo as no: 6, rice and Bellingham with him and on the left is Foden.
Big point of discussion was the lack of balance in Def but no one calling out that not taking a Def Mid to this tournament is absolute suicide for England. Structure has looked terrible so far and really think they will struggle to score goals outside of Harry Kane, especially without Palmer. Honestly mental that they have the person with most goal contributions in premier league last season and talk is they arent going to start him.
I would have Kane upfront with Foden behind him, Bowen on the right and Saka on the left, Bellingham and Rice in the middle, Trippier or Shaw LB, Stones and Guehi CB and Walker RB
I think Gareth wants to mimic the success that Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice had, so allowing Gallagher to play makes sense, particularly with the dropoff from Phillips in recent years.
3 reasons why England won't win the Euros: 1. Their defence is worst amongst the top 5 teams in the tournament. 2. They still haven't found the midfield combination to dominate the game. 3. We've all seen Harry Kane in big games , when there's a pressure on him to perform he drops a stinker.
Just play Walker CB with Stones and put Gomez LB to create a back 3 so Trent can push up from RB. Rice sitting with Bellingham and Foden ahead. Kane with pace either side in Saka and Gordon.
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Branthwaite, Trippier/Shaw, Rice, Mainoo, Bellingham, Saka, Kane, Gordon That feels much more balanced. Obv Gareths not taken Branthwaite, which is a shame.
Neville says weird stuff and Rice in the 6. You can say passing wise he’s not as good as a Rodri, but defensively he’s the best 6 in football in terms of recoveries, ball winning and shielding the back four
With Serbia you got to remember they will try to be second or third in the group so you can imagine tactically it's better to not concede many chances of goals and try get to the next stage I can see that happening with most of the group games in the euros tbh probably see a lot more counter attacking style of football from these teams
With such a weak defence, Gallagher or Mainoo have to play next to Rice in a two. Rice can then get forward a bit. The front 4 of Bellingham, Saka, Foden and Kane should be enough to get goals. If not working, you bring on the pace of Watkins, Gordon and Eze or Bowen for Gallagher/Mainoo, Foden and Saka and drop Kane back into 10. That's how the Son and Kane partnership worked with Kane assisting.
Not one mention of Joe Gomez for left back after playing most of the season there for Liverpool and being very solid doing it. I think Trippier is a mistake waiting to happen and everyone seems to be walking right into it

Surprised Burn didnt get a call up considering he can play LB/CB and has had a better season than shaw
I’ve 5k on Portugal - when I seen England had 4 palace players in the squad that sealed my decision
Wayne Rooney “Saka has been better for England than Foden”. If a professional footballer can see this then the fans have 0 arguments now
Yeah, but no one wants to give Saka credit.
This is an indisputable fact. Doesn’t take a professional footballer to see this.
Would anybody even argue that?
saka is a better footballer than foden. its just fodens had a better season. but saka has more quality
Foeden is older than Saka by two years so has had more experienece. Foden is in a squad where you get so many chances it's insane. It's mad how people think Foden is better when he isn't when Saka is so much younger and nowhere near his prime and Foden will very soon be in his prime. Really unprofessional press as normal. Saka is kicked EVERY game.
Most awkward opening to a show ever.
It’s like when everyone sings happy birthday and you just have to stand there and wait for it to finish 🥴🤣
I was almost developing a soft spot for England and was hoping they'd do well in the tournament, but that intro has pulled the rug right out from under my feet! Come on Serbia!!!
Spot on haha
Nothing so English as true awkwardness that makes you cringe 😂
Felt like that a few days ago when it was my birthday.
What was that tune? A load of noise by the Noise Brothers?
The lass is the only sensible person with the question about england winning.
Agree, I always hope england do well in tournaments, but to think they're favourites this time with this squad is something else 😂
But we do have one of the best squads in the tournament, does it mean we will win? No, only one can win it and every team that has made it can do well.
@@jackgreenway4646 There's probably 5 teams with better squads. We have maybe3 or 4 world class players, a few decent ones, and tons of dross. Very little late-champions league experience in the squad either. To many English fans drinking the kool-aid and thinking they're going to win based on Kane, Foden and Bellingham. It isn't enough.
He's a big football RUclipsr
@@jackgreenway4646as the saying goes 'defences win tournaments' and we havn't even got a decent one
Klopp sees Alexander-Arnold as a right back, Southgate sees him as a midfielder. Hmm, I wonder which of those two managers i would listen to.
Southgate has other right backs
Southgate wouldn’t be playing Trent there if it wasn’t for klopp doing it and everyone saying Southgate should play him there so Southgate only plays him there because he come under pressure to play him there
@@russty2996 he's played a total of 3 games in midfield for Liverpool. 2 of which were in the League Cup. I think Klopp is a better judge than Southgate.
People think he can't influence the game from right back, but of course he can, he does for Liverpool. The same people bemoan his defensive ability and positioning, but playing in midfield leaves you a lot more vulnerable to those frailties. There's a lot more to playing centre mid than pinging 40 yarders!
@@ushmush4074if Trent gets skinned persistently at RB then it is a clear weakness that the opponents will target. At least in midfield Declan and Jude can come back and cover him
@@chinksey-MEDIA ah, you're a better coach than Klopp. Apologies, I didn't realise.
4:18 Rooney.. “I agree with all of Gareth’s decisions”
1 minute later lists off players he would have taken that Gareth dropped 😂😂
As thick as mince.
That's why he's coaching Plymouth argyle...
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402while Gareth is Loosing against Iceland, mabe Gareth should manage Plymouth aswell.. or Wycombe 😂
@@TheAntsNestwhat team is wickam , better^^
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402trent can't defend... also trent is top 5 players in prem for tackles and interceptions. Whilst playing higher up than most rb's. I hate this myth trent can't defend cos he's good going forward.
