TO BE FAIR Spike would have never abused his position of power if Cadence hadn't used reverse psychology to tell Spike that he could get whatever he wanted in the first place.
Remember when Fancy Pants was a kind gentleman who accepted Rarity’s friends as they are even though they’re uncouth? Well I guess that doesn’t matter anymore thanks to this episode!
@Midnight Blue You can't just blame Spike episodes for that. EVERYONE was suddenly a massive jerkass in "Putting your hoof down" just so Fluttershy had people to be "assertive" to. Or "Leap of Faith" where half the crowd was injured or had an ailment just in time to be sold a supposed cure-all tonic. There are plenty of episodes where the way ponies behave (or look) revolves solely around the plot and isn't present anywhere else. Discord is jealous of Tree Hugger for being Fluttershy's friend, seemingly ignoring she had six other close friends all this time.
The way Spike's character gets handled in this show is truly fascinating to me. He goes from a voice of reason who helps others resolve their issues or even saves the day to a magnet for bad luck who suddenly sucks at everything he does and has the whole universe against him. For every Crystal Empire and Gauntlet Of Fire, we get a Princess Spike or Spike At Your Service.
I always loved Spike because he's been devoutly loyal to Twilight from the very start, and he is genuinely great as a "voice of reason" supporting character in most episodes. However when the episode is solely about him, the writers fail to give him basic common sense, even though this is literally one of his main gimmicks when he's in other episodes. Hell, in the very first episode Spike *was* the voice of reason, telling Twilight to listen to Celestia's letter, and trying to pull her out of her shell, among other things.
If a shot like this can fell a dragon sneeze tree, then how did they not fall before? If Twilight needed silence, why didn't she get a servant to cast a silence spell, like what she did in the library with Moon Dancer, only the other way round? Can't impose on others too much unless they're Spike, right? Anyways, nice review!

Even though this episode doesn't create then resolve any friendship issues or even have a discernable morale of any kind, it really is quite royally iconic because said episode reveals the dangers of neglecting proper tree maintenance which is nothing to sneeze at (especially when your trees are so weak to begin with that the bottom of said trees disappear right after said trees fall over).
@@ChicagoMel23 That moral doesn't work though. Spike didn't start abusing his connection to Twilight until Cadance accused him of doing so. None of the decisions he made after that point played any part in the disaster, only the ones he made while he still had good intentions. Also, as LittleshyFiM pointed out, blaming even those decisions is a stretch. No matter how you slice it, Spike abusing his position is not responsible for the disaster.
Also trees don't naturally grow to have weak bases, the whole tree problem is caused by mistreatment of the trees from the Canterlot ponies (desperate trees tend to destroy water mains). This explains why Fluttershy was not in this episode.

DJ Pyro Teknikz the 4th And 5th word is what’s wrong with this episode
Wow. That description is so true xD No1 is save. Even dragons xD
Who was here for the stream while he was editing this XD
Me ✋🙋
Everything wrong with princess spike:
everything
The lack of guards in the castle is truly astonishing.
Spike tried his best
Spike getting hit by a door cliche.
"Equestria is doomed if social media is ever invented"
G5:
“Equestria’s doomed is social media is ever invented.”
Gen 5 😐
Random Canadian Pony.
**Ding!**
(Yes I know she’s supposed to be in the episode and she’s a valid character. But it’s still funny that she randomly popped into the video in a clip.)
100 plus sins. this episode exists
thoses trees are incredibly frail if one one hit from a small ball was enough to break them down.
Dude you sound so enthusiastic then your previous videos
Are you coming from an older video? A lot has changed in the past six years 😯
@@LittleshyFiM now that I said it, it's pretty cringey, yeah but you sound a bit high pinched than usual
4:09 "Equestria is doomed if social media is ever invented."
*G5:* "Great Idea."
That must be the *real* reason that magic was gone and the pony tribes are so isolated..
I remember watching this episode at eleven at night when I still had a bedtime and I felt so special for being up at eleven
Moral of the story kids: blame your actions on other people who did nothing wrong, don’t act on vital information about something dangerous, and storm someone’s household for something their friend did to get your perfect happy ending!
You have a good point, I mean the chain of events going off here is Final Destination 4 Levels of things going absurdly wrong...
Did...Spike miss a train that crashed or something?
I hope Spike didn't get grounded
that whiplash of a moral tho
not to mention how the statue even stayed together in the first place-
4:09
and thanks to G5, where cell phones AND social media exists, Equestria is doomed.
"Equestria is doomed if they ever get social media"
MLP gen 5: :p
my lil bro was watching with me and when the 3 choices popped up he was like “good thing happened!” And then he cried after the result
this episode was confusing as soon as it started cuz why would an adult empress trust a child to take care of the summit stuff 😭 he couldve stayed near twilight to make sure no one wakes her up meanwhile someone else took care of the checklist 😭😭😭😭
There's actually a small one you missed: in the scene where the pony says "Sorry, it's a public hazard", you can see his tool belt changes.
3:23 surprised you didn’t notice the green pony with brown hair and a pine tree hat bearing a certain resemblance to a gravity Falls character
"Equestria is doomed if social media is ever invented." Well sh*t.
Sleep deprivation sounds like my life.
