  • During the 2025 Swimming world championships Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi, then just 12 years old made HISTORY when she became the youngest worlds finalist in swimming history. She made the final in not just one but THREE events and finished 4th in all of them coming as close as six HUNDREDTHS of a second to an individual medal. In the time after those championships Yu has now turned 13, and apparently ALSO got even FASTER, because during her FIRST event of the Chinese National Games she set a new Chinese and Asian record in the 200 IM.

    When Ye Shiwen won gold in both of her events, many people couldn't wait to call her "drug cheat" and droided up to beat even men. As it turned out, she was never a drug cheat and has continued to swim in great spirit despite never achieving her best again. There was a swimmer in the same events who was two seconds slower, but managed to improve her time by 3 seconds within a year. Then she went on to beat Shiwen's "unbeatable" time by over a second. Who's the cheat? Katrina Hosszu, who held onto the world record for years until McIntosh beat it by almost 1/2 a second. Yet there's not a whisper of drug cheat on Hosszu or McIntosh despite being faster than Shiwen by almost 2 seconds.

      That's because those folks calling Ye a drug cheats are a bunch of racists, especially those middle aged white men coaches.....there! the truth.

      I almost included a section on that whole “controversy” because it’s just so bizarre. I’m always against doping accusations that boil down to “that’s too fast!” mainly because I think it’s just really lame. But in the case of Ye Shiwen it wasn’t even necessarily the overall time that people pointed towards it was her freestyle splits. Which to me is just an extra layer of annoying since there are so many factors that go into how a swimmer splits different legs of an IM race.

      The US, Canadian and like countries were alleging that she couldn't have beat Australian Rice's record unless she doped and that her blood results will show in time, but many years have passed. Her moment was tarnished and no apologies were made.

    They said it is "impossible" when pan zhanle did something with the 100m, but as popovici and Alexis are close to reaching pan zhanle record people seem to forget the "impossible " allegations. Suddenly it's not "impossible " when NON chinese are breaking records.

    Between USA and China, which country has drug problem? If your answer is USA, you got it right! No one beats USA on drug use and drug abuse. Now, you should have better understanding why many comments accusing Chinese cheating or doping without any evidence.

    • @YCHTT
      @YCHTT 3 months ago +7

      Many people don't get this. USA with it's cunning nature & it's "American exceptionalism," invented medical exception for drug use/abuse for their athletes (in order to legalize cheating, just like their "lobbying" term to government officials and hence won't be criminal or corruption charges) and called it "Therapeutic Use Exemptions" by their government body of U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) not WADA. Needless to say this TUEs are normally and mostly issue to American athletes but also open to athletes that has connection to the US. That's why you can find so many drug cheat (legally) from these American athletes and hence why we witnessed at the last Paris Olympics that many American swimmers turn blue faces at the end of the race.

    She eventually finished second in the butterfly.
    Every China athlete in this Games is out to make a point. And that is "send ME to the Asian Games next year" (less than a year away). In weightlifting for e.g. they are breaking world records in a direct message to their coaches, I WANT the Asian Games spot.
    Yu ZiDi is certain to go to the Asian Games now.

      He’s been swimming at this meet, just won the 100 in a 48.0. Not incredible given his WR time but I feel like it’s understandable if he had a down year after such a breakout success in 2024. We saw literally the exact same thing happen with Popovici after 2022 and look at his times this year.

    American dopers, we like all knids of drugs. Ones that pick you up and others that slam you down. We especially love the ones that make people go side ways rapping like Snoop Dogg dancing like Scooby doo. Dont even get me started on alcohol and all the maiming and murdering that happens every day especially on the weekends .

    I hope competing this young at this fierce level won’t affect her growth. TBH, I don’t trust chinese sports committees. They have a habit of sacrificing athletes' potential for temporary political achievement. Pick Yao Ming, for example, they overused him. The level of competition in the NBA is fierce. Yao Ming needs a rest, yet they still ask him to attend unnecessary matches. China's sports committees are not saints, not to bad mouth, it’s just plain facts, just look at its current football and basketball situation. Full of fake game.
