I actually bought a kit on Amazon for about $14 which included fuel lines, spark plug, primer bulb, carb, and air filter. I figured it has been about 10 years, since I was able to last start. This video was a perfect guide on doing a full tune up. I cleaned all the components as well. Baby started right up and runs like a champ. Thanks a bunch for posting.
You are the man. Thank you. I have two of them that have been sitting out in my garage for about the same time (3 to 5 years, for sure before Covid). And, the bulb has deteriorated and the inside of the gas tank looks pretty clean; because, I always empty the tank if I am leaving it. But, still, I've never done a full tune-up like you did. But, I will do this. I didn't know they were so simple.
Thank you for this video. I have good knowledge about maintaining lawn mowers. But I have yet to understand weed eaters. But now I know more thanks to you; I am going to go buy a gas powered weed eater cause my yard is way to big for an electric. And the struggle of pulling a long power cord all over the yard has become tiring.
Very good video I own a small engine repair business but I always like watching how other people do things. Also when you are cleaning all of the holes in the carburetor a paper clip can't fit in some of them the best thing to use for those is torch tip cleaners they have all different sizes.
Tyler Gurley on these, they don't spin freely compared to others. It spins with the turn of the engine. so I wouldn't think your engine would be locked up if the trimmer part doesn't spin but its possible. try taking the spark plug off and try and turn. This will let out some compression.
I've used several different things as 'bore chasers', many times resorting to stripping some copper wire out of the insutation and used just a single strand of it. There's a 'guage' for every hole, LOL......
Excellent video, even telling us the size of the wrench to use. One suggestion - face the work into the sun when filming. Some of the engine shots are so dark from shadow that I couldn't see the engine. Thanks for your help. Ready to tackle this cast off Weedeater that someone didn't want.
When you replace the fuel line, an easier way to get it started the first time is to remove the spark plug and put a little gas directly into the cylinder and then reinstall the spark plug and pull the starter.
I watched this video just to set me up for a Featherlite FL20 which my neighbor gave to me he couldn't get it running. That's my Q a lot of my friends don't like to fix and fix fuel lines. @@davidjessee7701i always clean them up with wire brush or steel then use that rustoleum 2000 degree paint for headers and exhaust. By the time it rust again the weedeater needs a rebuild if it's gonna be used more.
To find out what size fuel line you need, measure the I.D. and O.D. of the fitting on the carb. Get a tape measure with inches and 32nd. With the muffler off, check the cylinder and piston. Clean the piston with a small screwdriver. Use a spline tool to adjust the mixture. Set the lo mixture for highest RPM'S at idle and hi mixture for highest RPM'S at full-throttle. Run it awhile and readjust if necessary. Set the idle just until the spool just stops or as necessary. Amazon has 12" hemostat pliers to replace fuel lines and filters.

Nice video, but you installed your fuel lines backwards. The large diameter line feeds air from the primer bulb to the tank (to presurize the tank). The small diameter line is supposed to be the fuel pickup line. You can install them backwards and it'll work, but not as well as if they're installed the correct way.

Would have still been there but I left to enter treatments for stage 3 lung cancer. I BEAT the cancer but still trying to get over the ill effects of the chemo and radiation, thats some mean stuff, I pray for all those who have to deal with this disease. If I ever get to better health I'll return to work. Just not as physical as I was. Their waiting on me. I really enjoyed what I did there. Thanks again, I think I'll try researching Techtronics a bit.
you are welcome, sounds like you have had some great experiences!
Need to do the same to my bolens weed eater what i am trying to figure out two lines that go into the tank one is connected to a filter though the other one just is inserted into the tank nothing is connected to it the other end of it attaches to primer bulb i was wondering if something was suppose to connect to the other end of hose that goes into the tank but seen nothing in the tank itself.
one might be for air, so there is no air lock
I have the same one i need fix help fix
Get a carburetor from Amazon that comes with fuel line and a filter and the adjustment tool
You should have checked if the check flaps are flat and that diafram looked old
And watch the purge lines closely. If there are any air bubbles in the return line, tighten the screws holding the carb together.
@@alext9067 yup
$22 bucks not bad...some guy charges me $25 for fuel lines and another $25 bucks to clean carburetor 😡wtf
ah man, do it yourself
What about adjusting the carburetor valves with the special tool, the low idle and high idle? are you going to make another video showing that procedure? It was a great video. Good job!I have the SST25CE model, does it take the same spark plug as the one you repaired?Cheers
Also where did you get the rebuild kit/parts?Thank you
Victor Hdz well i guess you want the labor for free you piece ofshit
not oil need it?
LOL it's a 2 stroke engine you mix the oil and gas together
Squeeze the throttle while starting....
I use to cut commercially the weed eaters that got started like that by employees after so long had to be started like that. We were using echo 260s
Why do the chicken cross the road? *bibopbubap* W E E D E A T E R
Please do not use your weedeater in shorts! I lacerated my shin doing that.
yep you have to be careful for sure!
ouch!
Robert Willard I had to run a weed eater in shorts with sunburnt legs
And wear safety glasses or a sheild depending on the terrain you are cutting in. When I was younger I had to clear cut thick patches of wild ferns, im glad I had the sheild. A month ago I was cutting around a house and got some dirt and giant thistle weed guts in my face and eyes lol. I guess being older doesn't make you aim any better.
that Weedeater is a piece of junk from the start. Never really ran properly even with all the tech support. I just gave up and bought a Stihl. Always starts and runs no problem. Yep, twice the price but no agony. Just was digging the old WeedEater out of the shed after 8 years and was looking for a fix of the junker. Actually not worth looking at it, because it's not even good enough for the recycling bin
yep you are correct on this, they work, then you need to always tune them and maintain otherwise they die pretty quickly

Who are you trying to fool, you couldn't start it and after another day in the sunlight it looks like it's another day and as I see maybe it's another machine 😎
ha ha, no it took a while to get it going for sure, same machine. I don't have time to have two machines and try to fool anyone. It just took longer to get it running from the tuneup. Probably was late in the day, then the sun went down and I finally got it. The point of the video is the tuneup to help anyone learn how to do it themselves. Hope it helped!
Wow thats alot of chemicals that got absorbed through your skin for this video.
I must have used a different brand of carb cleaner or something ... the cleaner I used literally ate through & disintegrated the primer bulb AND Melted the air filter ... and it's making the gaskets .... definitely Unusable.
"Carb/ Choke & parts cleaner" is what it says on the can = DON'T USE WHAT I USED ... it's Making the rubber O rings Swell up, omg !
I gota get a new carb now.
This shit totally Ruined it
It wasnt even worthit
