I replaced 3 timing belts on V6 engines using RUclips guides. I like your trick with the screw driver. Also, if you put marks on the timing belt and on all 3 pulleys and then transfer those marks to the new belt there is no need to actually align all factory marks and turn the engine so the piston is at the highest point. Mazda 323 is our next DIY project so thanks for your video!

I am not a seasoned mechanic andi am struggling with this. .... please tell me if I need a washer or spring in-between the harmonic balancer bolt and the disc?
thanks for putting this up, my water pump just started leaking real bad ive done motor mounts etc on it before but since it hit 230k i should probably replaced the timing belt while in in there! talk about luck finding this video when its only been up 2 months, sub'd :)

most cars had washer on that harmonic balancer bolt for this protege 5 please double check my video

What kind of Jack is that used to support the engine?
Any jack. Just put a piece of wood between the jack and oil pan
