I haven't done an Intelligence build for a while but Stun Batons were the King!
They buff'd stun batons since he started to hate them back all those years ago, imo they worked as intended, you were supposed to stun then kill them with anything else, usually a turret since that's in intellect build but they made the stun baton OP af with straight up Damage, AOE Crowd Control (repulsive mod pushes multiple zombies) and Stun lock them for ages with max skills, you don't even need turrets to finish them.

Yup, Intellect Build with the Stun Repulsor is the ducks nuts. It is a grind to get there, but oh baby it's worth it.
So because Josh hates stun batons so much I actually decided to do a full stun baton playthrough to see if they're really as bad as he says and...they're OP as hell.
I'm literally just using a level 1 stun baton and even ferals are no problem and I'm 1-2 shotting regular zombies. And there's basically no stamina cost. It's absurd how good the stun baton is. I'm a believer now!
I do however wish the intellect tree came with a decent gun option too.

I can one shot ferals with a steel axe too. So why waste skill points? You are already going to use the axe. Why waste a hotbar spot? Can you break doors with a stun baton? Can you break open boxes with stun batons? Next, try an axe melee playthrough, much more convenient.
I did the same ONLY because Josh hates them so much. Never looked back :) One can only hope there is a stun gun coming.
WIth an Intellect build the Stun Baton becomes the best melee weapon in the game, toss in the repulser mode and you can take down a bear in five swings. I actually survived fighting Grace at the Hogzilla Ranch using a stun baton.
Don't carry books around to read later, carry the Nerdy Outfit with you. Pop it on and read the books when you have a quiet moment. If you strip all the mods from the Nerdy Outfit you can even put armor mods in it as you find them to save a little space.
At the very least people need to carry it in their vehicle.
Honestly might be smart to keep the rogue hood and nerd outfit in locked slots in the inventory when raiding a t6 POI, if not in the vehicle you came in. Rogue hood is basically the new looting goggles as of 1.0 but the nerdy hat is more viable as a daily carry piece.
@@bebotime2941 This is the conclusion I'm coming to. Im going Agi build with eventual assassin set at the moment, and going to be carrying those two just because the benefits they give are so phenomenal. Im thinking I will end up having a couple different sets at home base for specific purposes. A mix and match set of best bonuses for horde night, assassin for clearing POI's, mining set, etc etc.
Agreed, very worthwhile to give up 1 slot to carry it than how ever many slots you give up lugging books.
How sad is Josh gonna be when he has to use the Stun Baton and realizes how fucking amazing they are now?

The first POI I cleared in 1.0 on Day #1 was the O'Malley Oats that Josh did in this episode as a Tier 2 infested. Even as a Tier 1 it had a feral soldier at the end loot. edit: I'm playing 100% standard settings. I did turn the horde up to 64 zombies after the 2nd horde night because I want the extra XP.
Stun Batons are super OP, my friend is running a stun baton int build in our game and he destroys everything and sends everything else flying.
I always rush intellect now and with the new mods in the game I only need to invest 2 point into strength to completely get what I want out of it and can dip into whatever other trees I want so much faster. Not a huge fan of the armour sets but I love the new mods for them… although I really dislike how important packmule has become :/
Maxed out Electrocutioner and Int, I was able to one shot a bear with a Stun Baton. its litterly one of the best weapons and Josh will not even try it to see.
@@cougar108make sure to max out the medical skill too bc the final point of that makes every hit from a baton have a 10% chance of instakilling.
@@jimdob6528 most things get insta killed with t6 Baton and full t6 Nerd armor. That +60% damage to int weapons on the gloves at t6 is amazing
I have been running the Assassin armour in some of the Tier 5 POI's, becoming hidden faster is very useful. Even when you hit a trigger point you can just back off a bit and they lose track of you so fast, then you can just pick them off with your crossbow. Thanks for the fun video x
With t6 assassin outfit zombies just lose object permanence. You can play peek-a-boo with them by popping around a corner the moment they aggro and they will just forget you were there.
Who's ready for muppetery in the next episode? he's going to spend most of his time in the snow biome, and get back and panic that he doesn't have time to do the needed upgrades to the horde base. Should be entertaining.
Not sure if he really needs to do a lot of upgrades. the day 7 and 14 hordes seem easier than they used to be. I think when they extended the length, they lowered the difficulty a little bit to compensate. A cobblestone base should be fine
Yup. He'll probably "try and punch out a quick job for cash", that takes him till at least 2pm, then 2hrs home, he races to his base, realizes he's done nothing with it all week, then spends the rest of the day frantically adding to and upgrading his base.

One thing I do in the police station I haven't seen anyone else do yet is to stop by at the jail cell and shoot an arrow into the roof to drop all the zombies. That way, even when I'm pretty low level I can kill all of them through the bars safely. Then when I unlock it it's already clear.
That Trader Rekt burried supply job fail happened to me twice in a row today and none of them where near a tree. I'm playing on pregen08k. They are just bugged, possibly just on that map.

God damn that song brings me to tears every time i hear it. My grandpa (my mum's dad) died when i was young he was a veteran and a damn good sniper (my mum still has a bunch of his trophies he had won and his medals) his funeral is one of my earliest memories i can remember it like it was yesterday. I remember he got buried with a bunch of live ammunition on and around his coffin just in case someone wanted to dig him up. I was too sad and scared to put flowers on his coffin (i was only 8 years old at the time). It's definitely a core memory of mine.
Anyhow, that was very long-winded, but you definitely should check out the song it just hits differently.

You will start seeing a lot more ferals and rads in the winter biome... I was getting them in the 2nd week in the desert!

An assassin bonus from the set on quality 6 can make zombies loose you immediatly, when they loose sight on you. So yes, it is really helpfull. Nice Work. Have a good one.
Would anyone like to see pack mule changed from inventory slots to improving stack sizes of all items?
The full assassins outfit with points into sneak is soooo op for raiding. You can use a silenced sniper and not wake anyone up. Plus just break their line of sight and they’ll just wander.
Apparently you CAN loot legendary equipment still. Playing with a couple friends, one of them maxed out lucky looter, had max Scavenger set and looted a Tier 6 M60 out of one of the air drops around day 30something. He also had some of the loot related sets completed as well(he's our designated looter for big end loot). May have just been a fluke, oversight, etc. But I now have a legendary M60. :)
Assassin set Tier 6 turns you into a stealth god. Firespark81 did a whole video with the numbers, but I always play stealth. It is no longer broken. The zombies lose track of you quickly. You don’t trigger some of the groups, but do trigger others. You never have to worry about a wandering horde outside at all. If they detect you, then they lose you almost immediately.
with the full level 6 assassin outfit, you can walk right up to a zombie and they don't see you!
I had an interesting surprise from an airdrop today, 3 zombie dogs. they have made changes to what spawns in airdrops. I opened it and it immediately disappeared and in its place were the dogs.
Assassins armor is ridiculous for stealth. Around level 4 quality full Assassin armor you can shoot sleepers right in the face and as long as you're sneaking they won't even wake up. You can get multiple sneak attacks on the same target.
I found a stun baton tier 3 on day 2 been rolling it for 6 days despite being specced into clubs. It'l take like a tier 2 bat to get me off the stun baton.
I found a tier 1 stun baton on day 3 and I am specced for it and it made horde night a breeze. Also completed the book series by day 5 so I had the repulser mod on it and sent groups of them flying. Stacking that with a few kandies makes you pretty much unkillable.
dont diss the stun baton its by far the best melee weapon in the game since the buff they are actually crazy when its fully maxed with mods and points.
Also the stun baton is the only viable melee weapon to use when a poi is infested with rads once u have unlocked the stun repulsor mod
@karayzo Josh hatred for the stun baton goes way, way back. It took him like 3 years to realize crossbows had been buffed just because he *once* was a bigger Muppet and tried to take on 3 Yetis in Dishong tower while weiding a crossbow. Never switched weapons 😂
At any rate, I'll actually enjoy seeing Josh stick up his hand and admit the baton has merit. It may become his go- to build, although pipe batons are fairly slow to start with.
I am running stun baton. It is actually very good. You will change your mind when you use it. I can't wait to see the brain click that happens when you realize lol.
FYI legendary weapons are worthless unless you've a stockpile of legendary parts and you don't know what to do with them. Legendary armor parts have double the effect. In the end game with steel tier legendary unlocked maybe it's worth rushing but even then a tier 5 will carry you through most of it with ease. Slap on a pair of tier 6 preacher gloves and you got +60% increase in damage to undead (zombies, zombie dogs, zombie bears, vultures). This counts for both melee, and ranged damage, probably explosives included too XD
I would say the exception is pistol, the standard pistol most people will use the rest of the game for stealth. Other than that I agree the armor is certainly likely to make a bigger difference.

Main weapons I'd level-6-craft (which are not final tier) are the SMG and hunting knife. Those two are arguably better than the tier which comes after them.
Anyway, you're not gonna get to 100 armor books very quickly, so there's nothing terribly wrong with making a tier 6 weapon.
I could even see making a tier 6 stone axe, because it replaces 3 tools on POI raids. With some miner-69er, & good mods, it's just very handy.
Dude, come on. Do the armor stuff on jawoodle park. Full assassin set let's you hide in 6 blocks of a zombie. With the way you sprint away and circle back to attack the zombies would lose track of you. Then boom more sneak damage.
i may or may not have tore down the roof of the same POI for my base to make it a square roof to fit my storage containers in a 4x4 area near one of the walls and then had a flat surface for dew collectors and farm plots ect. the mausoleum POI is an amazing base.
Bear den is where I just setup a outpost I really like it now that they remade it in a21, at the end they're just normal bears in the cages now not zombie bears and I think you could stab them to death with a knife before they can even beat down the bars. It honestly has to much space, I turned one of the bathrooms into my workbench/chem station room, the other into a forge/cement mixer room, kitchen is a kitchen, put 4 dew collectors and 20 farm plots on the roof, and a generator with lots of lights everywhere.
If the time for a drone comes, you should name it Chelsea. Been a while, man! Stoked for this series
I was trying to stick to the knife (which I love), but I found a level two stun baton ... that is so helpful when you are being attacked by a bunch of ferals. I may have to switch to baton -- but I totally built out the agility tree. These decisions!! ugh.

Like what Chris_Sizemore said, keeping the Nerdy Chest in a locked slot only takes up one slot appose to the amount of books and magazines being saved until getting to vehicle. I also keep the loot bonus helm and barting helm on me at all times. Both helms with xp mods. Also wearing preacher gloves for melee is insane. Giving up to 60% dam bonus to undead.
You can absolutely loot T6 in current b313 and since 1.0 came out. In a T6 infested mission, the infested cache frequently has a T6 item. I have a T6 m60, 9mm pistol, steel pickaxe, ranger hat, and a hunting knife from that cache.
Filling out the agility tree and the assassin's set makes for a perfect "Skyrim stealth archer" build. I'm at 3 or 4 with every agility perk and I'm hitting T4 infested POIs in the snow biome without alerting any zeds and one-shotting rads with an iron crossbow. It's crazy good.
It is still possible to loot legendary items, I pulled a legendary sniper rifle out of the end loot chest on a T6 Red Mesa (infested) run I think it was.
just carry the nerdy armor with you, takes up 1 slot, then read swap it and read magazines as you go instead of clogging up your inventory with multiple stacks of magazines until you get back to your bike.

Isn't it better to burn logs in place of structures from wooden blocks? Six logs are a hells long burn time
The bears in the bear den were really weak when I did it. Like half a mag from a tier 4 pistol each.
I think you can check if you get the double book read by the EXP you get rather than trying to remember the number of books you were on, I could be wrong but I think ive noticed that.
I used a stun baton for a play through and I really liked it.
Remember book room in Top Storage across from Hugh.
Use the "Sir Robin" tactic for cop cars. Break in, then just run away. Come back later after they despawned to loot.
Cocktails are easy to get and setting up a ladder to jump up someplace high is fairly easy so in early and mid game you can farm them for large amounts of easy XP. After mid game there are easier xp farms to make and they are more efficient.
Or the ben kenobi tactic... make a high ground, and just methodically take everything down.
Gone full assassin gear, the sneak is so good, been right up to a zombie, never spotted until it was too late.
I can't wait for Josh to find out the OP power of the assassin outfit T6 is ninja time. Even the trigger rooms are fine. Break line of sight and "where'd he go?"
Forging ahead is one of the easiest books to farm in this update, right along with the farming books. Every trader has 2-5 stations that have a 50/50 chance without any upgrades to spawn in forge ahead books. If you find a loop of like 4 Rekt and go around them (using the nights for crafting, questing, air drops, or mining and what not) and search those spots every inventory refresh you *should be able to max the forge tree out before horde 3 without even having to buy extras. Especially if you have any open to air lootable crafting stations at POIs on the way. If you collect the airdrops you likely will likely max seeds before horde 2 or 3 as well (well, plus how they show up EVERYWHERE). Armor seems to cap out next for most people, even without any points spent, beyond that it gets less common it seems. Tho level boons massively help
2:15 does nailgun tier even matter?
PTSD with that oats raid. My first run through it was still week 1 and all I had was a bone knife and a pipe shotty. Thought I had it handled and got my face eaten. Feral soldier boys are no joke early. Also how is one rad Zed all that came for him in the winter biome from a cop car? I got a rad wight and 2 rad bikers on like day 8 in the desert, on nomad difficulty.
It's just RNG. One time I was doing really well at not dying, and then the very first rads I encountered in mid-game were a rad cop, and a rad biker, _at the same time_ in a tight space.
Josh, they rename the cowboy hat to ranger, are you going to wear it still?
I am wearing full assassin set and I can kill zombies at night time as they walk around with knife.... Boots give you 100 stealth while sneaking and sprinting. but you can not sneak wearing nerd armor cause it to heavy.
every day stuff i wear assassin set, horde night i wear strongest gear i have. with tier 5 nerd (25%) books are my nightly thing i read.
Just find crack a book with car in front door, that one tier 3 and you can come out with like 40 books
I really don't understand your dislike of the stun baton. A modded out level 6 baton and being fully specced for the weapon is extremely powerful. Add to that a full stealth build and you are god like.
b312 EXP you did not update the game yet or or check if the update fixed some hoard base tests. curious their if the update fixed broke some hoard bases loop holes...
I actually got to greedy on my Agility run (died day 17 i think) so I started a freshie and went batton. On day 6 and building my horde base in the wasteland ar the Mesa miliary base. Nothing like a 8 skull POI hordebase for loot level for the day 7 64 max alive horde.

I was just watching a Firespark81 about the Assassin armor and how powerful a full set of T6 armor was. He could walk right up to them and stab them in the head, if any saw him he just ran into the first shadow and immediately hid again. At range he was getting constant stealth shot after stealth shot from the immediate rehide. I've gone intellect but I may get some fergettin elixir and go stealth to try it out.
That 'become hidden faster' is a bit misleading. Get a full set and try it out, you just break line of sight and crouch and they forget you ever existed. Insanely OP (if you play stealth... which I don't lol).
Josh maybe the stun baton isnt a bad weapon its just you that are bad using it. Remember you used to hate the crossbow because you got killed in the tower series while using it ( even though it was your muppety that did that) . I'm sure if you start using it more the value of its use as a weapon will increase
Get the full assassins gear you will thank me ... with agility spec'ed out ... using a crossbow and silenced pistol with the right books you can crouch right up to a Z and shoot them in the face and they still have no idea where you are and just stand there waiting to be killed ...
If you can get that close, it may be better to use a blade. More sneak bonus on blades (although lower base damage, so it depends).

So, although it has no extra effects, primitive armor IS a full on light armor, it has the same armor value as any other light set, not like how it used to be. (Kinda wish it had no abilities but boosted stats actually)

Yes it is. Fantastic every day set of armour that I am sure will be nerfed into oblivion soon. Unfun pimps are good at taking away the few fun things they actually achieve. Preacher gloves, and assassin are insane and I love them.
@@jimdob6528 I wouldn't even mind if they nerfed it to like 90% instead of 99, so that you have to run & close a door or something to regain stealth. But knowing game devs (in general, not just TFP), it'll get nerfed into oblivion and become the worst set in the game.

Police cars are the only thing worth picking, everything else is safe to break generally haha. Tho eventually you can use them to farm kills. They can have Really nasty things like rad cops and rad wights in the spawns tho, watch out. I even had one summon zombears and rad screamers on me and those called in friends
just some pointless trivia from the 'top-side of the globe'... The U.S. Army Rangers use the 'slouch hat' as part of their uniform in some cases, as well, but call it, as does most of the U.S. Military, a 'boonie hat'. hence 'ranger hat'.

They have upped the Stun Baton like crazy for 1.0.
Watching people fling mobs across the landscape, crackling and sizzling with even a low level stun baton.
Really looking at trying them out now.

I do Not get the hate for buried supplies… it is a decent payout (middle of the pack each tier) and one of the easiest and fastest quests, i Always do them first and generally get them all done before taking anything else…
