Got a good grip, started retracting and pop, the card pinged out and disappeared all the way into the slot. I thought megabucks to open up the machine so I'll just leave the card in there. So I turned the computer on it's side and gave it a tap and when I tried again I was able to hook the card and get it out. You are a life safer. I had a shoot about 4 hrs later and needed that card.
Your instructions were very helpful but had to make my length longer on the cardboard. My computer wanted to pull it in as if it was a CD but gently worked it out. I had to do it a few times but finally was able to get it out. Thanks for your quick fix. It worked!

wow thanks your way worked...I forgot i had an SD card stuck there when i inserted a CD on top of it! ....wow mega stuck. the double sided tape on a spatula eventually got the CD free, and the cardboard way got the SD card free. Hours of trying though to get the CD out. Thanks for making the video, very helpful

what model is this. I wish I knew about this before I bought my mac. I love that it has both on the side but mine does not have a dvd slot, just sd in the back. They should have put the slot way below so no one would make that mistake or on the other side of the mac
Thank you - I just bought an older macbook pro from a friend who reduced the price by 10 percent because an SD card was stuck in the cd/dvd drive. The card came out after a couple of minutes of trying - using a bit of L shaped card as you recommended. Thanks
This saved my bacon. The SD card went all the way in and I heard it drop down below the level of the slot. I had to tilt the computer 90 degrees and shake it to get the card nearer to the opening of the slot. L shaped piece of matte board and boom..out it came. I had almost resigned myself to opening up the computer and the drive.
thanks! i actually pushed mine completely inside trying to get it out so i had to tip the mac on its side, saved me from having to take the machine apart
Thanks so much was really panicking as thought sd card had fallen right through and would need opening....and my camera was demanding I put in that same card to update or would not let me use camera. Tried with various thicknesses of card the most solid from back of big art drawing paper book was the one that worked. Hooray! Tip: turn off imac first otherwise you start getting the dvd ejection mechanism going. Obvious I suppose if you had to resort to metal second method. Cardboard has to be so much safer.
