Feeding boxes... i have been using the method since 2007 when i got my 1st BP. It has work awesome, but, like you said, i handle my snakes many times between feeding days.

I feed my snakes in or outside of the enclosure and never had an issue with it. Agree with the handling, bc the more you handle the snake, the better you know its behavior and same with the snake towards you.

Great description of the snake feeding box. One thing to add is sometimes when you have a baby snake, a small round feeding bin can help them learn to eat, but it isn't a long term kind of deal and I think there is a lot of confusion between the short term settling and teaching of a baby animal and what should be the long term care goals. And sometimes people do it to keep the snake from consuming bedding, but I agree that avoiding "cage open = food mode" shouldn't be the main reason to do it, for that a tap signal would probably be a better option.
Hi Brian! I totally agree with u and the feeding boxes. Makes a lot of sense. We don't feed our snakes in feeding boxes but people were telling us too and we don't like doing it like that. They have been perfectly fine feeding in their tanks and ranks! Beautiful snake u got! He will be a great addition to ur Reptarium! Ur the best!

We do a feeding bin from the start. We handle them regularly. They do not strike when we reach in and they also don't stress, when we do feed them.

We put ours in a shallow “bin” in their cage to feed to keep from getting substrate on the food.when done they crawl out of it as it’s only about 1 1/2-2” deep.

I've been feeding my snakes in their enclosures for nearly 20 years now. Never used the feeding box method.

Feeding bins work for me in that it gives me time to clean the enclosure while they're eating. As well as them not associating their enclosure opening with them being fed, all my animals are ready to eat as soon as they realize they're in a feeding bin, but I've also been skiing this with them for awhile so they've become habituated to it
How about Mo?? Mo the Mochino!! you could also get Larry and Curly then showcase a trio of gorgeous animals/morphs. It would be educational to show how much a particular species varies in patterns/explain morphs... not that I'm saying or encouraging you to get more hahaha (shhhh dont tell Lory) big loves from the UK ❤🤪😆

Hi!! I have an original ball python, Bailey. She is still under a year old and I place her into a separate bucket for her to eat, she has always been really good with me when it comes to her feeding day. Then I give her another day after eating before handling her. I handler her every single day after till her next feeding. She is very tamed with me! I love her so much and cant wait to get another old soon!
Lori will be fine lol. I did the same thing with my dog to my boyfriend. Ultimately it all worked out in the end.

Every time you say "Mochino" I think "Moccachino" (Cappuccino coffee with chocolate syrup) snake; how about "Mocca" for a name? easy way to remember what type of retic he is.

I do feed boxes because I have two corn snakes (one female one male) in the same cage but one is very food motivated so I take the other one to a food box and she’s great she’s really chill and she doesn’t get handled to often

Hey Brian with my red tail Boa I have a feeding box off the main enclosure with a door. During her feeding schedule she goes into it on her own with a live mice feeds and then comes back into the enclosure when full or finished never had issues and was recommended to me by a zoologist I handle her daily with again no issues it’s cool setup with a hunt aspect for her. Just what I do I’ve had her four years since she hatched. Love your vlogs great fan and thank you so much for letting us join your great adventures
I think feeding boxes absolutely do work. They, at worst, are an extra safeguard at the cost of a little bit of extra time and space to store the feeding area.

I do both outside and inside enclosure feeding for all my Drymarchon. Mainly due to the fact that often they may shred the prey up a bit during feeding (all frozen thawed) and I just prefer to clean a tub then move the snake and clean the enclosure soon after feeding. Once they get a certain size it is hard to do outside of enclosure feeding though.

On the subject of switching enclosures to feed: I have an ivory blood that didn’t eat for almost three months, until it dawned on me to move him to a smaller tub to feed him. He now eats every week like clock work. And it has actually made him more docile as well. Because he doesn’t associate my hand with food. He knows that every time I come into his enclosure, I’m going to be either cleaning or picking him up. No need for a snake hook or anything. He now NEVER strikes. He comes up to me every time knowing that he is being held.
