    • @BzrLee
      @BzrLee 3 месяца назад +64

      If anyone that actually plays volleyball especially collegiate tier ones, that watch this, everyone would know that the soul of a team is always been the setters. No matter how good you spike it, the ball placing and the deception of the setter will mostly matter the largest.

    • @BerJua-zd4eq
      @BerJua-zd4eq 3 месяца назад +25

      It has always been sekita. He is so smart and agile. The Japanese team is always at a disadvantage due to their height, so without a proper setter their hitters wouldn't be able to play at such a high level. They can defend over and over but without the great mind of Sekita their attack would be more often stopped by teams that are good at blocking.

      I don't understand why Motoki Eiro, Japan's No. 1 setter, is not on the Japanese national team.
      There is a reason why Japanese people look down on Asians. He has the highest IQ in the world, is handsome, has beautiful skin, good style, and is talented in sports.

      @@BzrLee unfortunately i have never been a volleyball player yet i understand how important the setter is.
      but its not just that with japan. while tall and strong attackers of other top teams can force to score even if their setter is not in top form, japans offence is quite much up to sekita. if set up of sekita is not working out, it will suddenly be easy to stop their attacks.
      well, but now they got much better attackers than ever though.

      @@vifcoz I think in last year's VNL, coach Blain was saying that Eiro couldn't perform well at all and even said that the setter (Eiro) wasn't good enough in the post match interview against Poland in the preliminary phase. My guess is that even though Eiro performs well in domestic leagues, the coach and management members don't trust him enough to perform as well in international competitions.
      I still think he is a great setter though and deserves more chances for sure!

    • @sow_scout4989
      @sow_scout4989 3 месяца назад +44

      @@rachnid2555 They also go through national training camp before VNL starts, how things go there also has an effect to the final roster. Coach Blain also mentioned he wants the whole team at the same level for Paris, so he is not playing favourites. You can clearly see this in how he used his players in week 1. Oh and hate to break it to the original commentator, but overwhelmingly handsome will not score points in the court.

    • @ari_ed
      @ari_ed 3 месяца назад +16

      @@rachnid2555 I think I kinda get it what Coach Blain means. He wants a setter who is reliable on the court. Like Sekita who not only strategic and deceptive with his sets but also reliable in sense that he can convert any difficult situation into a set n let his spikers fly.
      But I think that Coach Blain should give Eiro or Oya a chance. I'm not saying that Fukatsu is not good or reliable enough, but I think Japan needs someone who takes charge and a little bit gutsy. sekita is definitely one n that's why I think one of the younger setter should be given chance to prove themselves n if they r good enough, they can accompany him as second setter to Paris as well. Altho since the Olympics is less than 2 months away, it could be risky to take a gamble now.

Nowadays there are at least 3 Japnese coaches coaching in PVL and for allowing the Philippine Men’s national team to have a friendly game with the Japanese teamt this coming end of the month is already a big thing for our team.

    Sekita 😍 some really superb setting there. That one hand setting so close to the net 😍

    Sekita might be small but he is a BEAST. We all know his sets have always been great, but even his serves and blocking have become stronger now. It's always amazing to see him get block points against players who are significantly taller than him. I hope the younger setters can learn from his example and eventually become Japan's Sekita duplicates.
