Hiiii there from Korea!! Just wrapped up the two week cookbook photoshoot and am currently traveling in Korea and Japan with some friends from college 😁 It’s been a crazy busy summer working on cookbook things, but I know it’ll be worth it in the end and I’m SO pumped for you guy to see! Today we are making some magic color changing unicorn noodles using just purple cabbage and lemon juice! As soon as I saw this trick online, I knew I had to share it with y’all 😄 I hope you enjoy!!

Jaya. creates Ya. Since I'm Vietnamese, every time my mom makes spring rolls, she always makes this dressing, aka nouc mầm sauce. I actually prefer it over the normal peanut sauce that people are used to.

I actually came up with this recipe based on a fun science project we learn at school :D. I shared it on my Instagram and blog a few years ago and the media kind of picked it up ❤️

Butterfly blue pea flower have the same effect too! Many use them to make galaxy color changing drinks, really cool to look at 🌌

Fun fact! Anecethyn or however you spell that will turn pink to blue if you add baking soda.This is also in blue butterfly tea which is made from flowers and it would be a cool party trick.

Hydrangeas are similar! You can get multi colored flowers (blue, purple and pink) if the soil is neutral, too high of pH it turns fully pink, too low and it goes blue :)

If you want the cabbage water to turn blue, you can add a dash of baking soda before cooking the noodles. The ability of cabbage to identify both acids and bases with a color shift is part of why it's used in one of the old wives tales about identifying the sex of a baby in utero based on the acidity of mom's urine.
