Your right Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan gave powerful performances in the film no actor could've played Gabbar Singh better than Amjad Khan I know that originally they offered the part to Danny denzongpa he was a good actor but he couldn't have done a better job than Amjad Khan for playing Gabbar Singh
Watched this movie in Diwali vacations of 1975. I was in second standard.. Still remember the moment. We were few minutes late because of the chaos of Housefull crowd. When we were entering the railway fight scene was going on...
Every scene in Sholay is copied from Hollywood. Even the actors style, the way they speak, their dresses and even their colours is copied from Hollywood western movies. Salim and Javed are good writers no doubt but if every thing in a movie is copied or stolen from others no one should praise them for this movie.

Unbelievable how these guys of Salim Javed fooled Indians by copying content from west and made all that money. Just makes me wonder that all you needed to become a successful writer direct producer in Bollywood was to take annual trip to US , get or watch tonnes of Hollywood movies and write down the scenes.

My mom saw Amitabh in the airport when he was coming back from some shooting in 1979 and she spoke to him. He was a nice and a humble person. I am 6ft 5 and my mom told me that he was considerably taller than the 6ft area in charge but not as tall as me and according to her he was easily in the 6ft 2 to 6ft 3 range at that time. By the way a master piece movie which can never be replaced!
