After installing, do this as a one-time set up
    Go to Meshastic App :
    Radio Configuration>Module Configurations> Canned Messages
    and enable Canned messages.
Enter CardKB on field called "Allow input Source"
The first time you turn on the device, it will display "Canned Message Module Disable", just press the reset button and it will work properly.
I designed this so that it is very simple for family or friends who are not tech savy to still be able to use Meshtastic for communications with me

Thanks so much for posting this. It’s a great asset to Meshtastic newbies. I have shared your videos most when spreading the word for this network. All my radio parts have arrived.. off to the library to print some cases!

Very clever. A family or a factory can benefit. It should have a little message alarm (LED blink or screen icon - a buzzer, amplified sound would take more mA in my opinion.) I just want ESPNow for RC and haven't figured it all out yet.

More things can be added (i have built one before with GPS, Buzzer, Vibration Motor) but I wanted to make this build easy for a beginner. And also because it will use the least battery :)

Is there a reason why you went with the Heltec over whisblok? We've found Wis is more efficient for power consumption. What antenna are you utilizing? We've tested numerous antennas using the Nano VNA V-5, and found antenna resonance to be ALL over the place from manufacturer to manufacturer. What's the total cost of this build?

Even though I do have WisBlock, I still prefer this using Heltec v3 for this standalone device.
The main reason I went with a heltec v3 because i am currently building about 10 units to give away to my family and friends, and have intention to build more over time to give away to closer neighbours. This set up gives me the best budget require the least amount of hardware pieces, and least amount of time to put together as a standalone Meshtastic device.
I wanted a method that is easy for anyone to put together, even for someone with little or no electronics background. So that the overall community can benefit.
Overall cost is very affordable per device. You can check out the cost of the Heltec V3 and CardKB in the links above, sometimes suppliers has sale and your cost goes even lower. The enclosure is really cheap if you 3D print yourself or get a friend to print for you. The antenna in the video is the stock antenna that came with the heltec v3. Of course, if you have another antenna with good swr, you can swap it out.

I'm getting into meshtastic and wanted to verify that all you need to do to get the keyboard to work is wire as shown and configure as stated? Does the allow input and canned message mean i can type and send non-canned messages too?
