The JD in your name makes it seem you’re an attorney. And as an attorney it seems odd you’d see the Appellate Court simply doing what they’re supposed to do, and that is making these decisions based on the law, as patriotic. I’m glad they ruled the correct way, and provided an opinion that accurately addressed many of these issues, it’s certainly a concerning thing when we begin to see the judges as patriotic for simply doing what their post commands of them. But in a sense I also get it considering how Cannon clearly made her decision without any legal foundation for doing so. As a soon to be attorney that is what I’ll always find wild about all of this, a judge making a highly public decision that was clearly erroneous without even having some stretch of legal analysis that one who disagrees could at least follow her logic as to why she interpreted the law in the way she did.

No, unless there's evidence she acted in bad faith (such as being paid for her decision), she can only be impeached and removed from office by Congress. This is how the appeals process is supposed to work. A lower judge makes a flawed decision, and then the appellate judge(s) overturn that decision.
I would think of her legal reputation, credibility and standing in that community has been damaged by her willingness to step outside the bounds of law to help frump; and her judicial discretion will be questioned for a period to come.

The judge can be impeached by the House and then by trial in Senate. All you have to do is call your Representative to ask for the proceedings to start. Like voting, this democratic process works only if there is participation, and there is growing concern from all sides about the incompetence and corruption that is negatively affecting our national security. The JD in your name makes it seem you’re an attorney. And as an attorney it seems odd you’d see the Appellate Court simply doing what they’re supposed to do, and that is making these decisions based on the law, as patriotic. I’m glad they ruled the correct way, and provided an opinion that accurately addressed many of these issues, it’s certainly a concerning thing when we begin to see the judges as patriotic for simply doing what their post commands of them. But in a sense I also get it considering how Cannon clearly made her decision without any legal foundation for doing so. As a soon to be attorney that is what I’ll always find wild about all of this, a judge making a highly public decision that was clearly erroneous without even having some stretch of legal analysis that one who disagrees could at least follow her logic as to why she interpreted the law in the way she did.

Can Judge Cannon be convicted for obstruction of justice? She has to suffer some consequences based on what both Dearie and the Appeals Court have determined.
No, unless there's evidence she acted in bad faith (such as being paid for her decision), she can only be impeached and removed from office by Congress. This is how the appeals process is supposed to work. A lower judge makes a flawed decision, and then the appellate judge(s) overturn that decision.
She applied her personal "opinion" and not the law. There should be a consequence for that.
I would think of her legal reputation, credibility and standing in that community has been damaged by her willingness to step outside the bounds of law to help frump; and her judicial discretion will be questioned for a period to come.
There should be ''consequences'' for a misjudgement at this level and regarding the fragility of the case. Again, knowing fully well that Mercedes decidedly chose to err in her verdict warrants some sort of penalty against her,...suspension, demotion, some punitive measures to ensure some other selfish judges do not tow her lane.

I thought regarding permanent repercussions you would have said NOW we can move forward with election reform, an analysis of the Electoral System and a national debate about keeping it or not.
But first it would be necessary and good to let the Electoral System as conceived by our Founders just stand. Work out reform of how the people have a voice in the electors chosen in each state. Write a Federal law upholding the people's voice to be more powerful than the whims of any state legislature or administration.
Pass a Federal law that each state has a deadline to reform it's voting policies to state that the will of it's citizens is to be followed.
