    Hey Josh. Congrats on getting PfCO'd up. UAV8 are indeed a great crowd and who I went with as well. Rest assured the CAA have specifically mentioned RUclips use does not constitute commercial use, even if you get revenue from it, which seems a strange exemption but there you are. I too see it as a license and a hopelessly overly complicated and expensive one at that. The presence of money doesn't make a flight more challenging or risky, it's the flight itself. So I still don't see why money is deciding factor on getting the full CAA training. It should be the type of flight itself that dictates whether the CAA training is needed.
    Anyway, best of luck with getting paid jobs :) Cheers, Ian in London

    • @josh.nuttall
      @josh.nuttall 4 года назад +1

      RICARDO hey Ricardo! So the video explains the process of getting the PfCO so you are able to fly your drone for commercial purposes. If you just mean a license to fly as a hobby then check out the CAAs website for drone registration. Unfortunately, I’m not too sure about NQEs near Surrey, might need to google that one.
      You are correct, there is new EU legislation coming that will replace the PfCO and is now going to sorted through risk-based categories. However, this won’t be in place until July 2020 and if you get a PfCO now it will stay valid for the whole year (even when the new regulations take over).
      I completely understand your frustration as I was in the same boat! As a student it was a very difficult decision! However, once you look at the numbers and see the prices that people charge for drone services, you then realise it’s much easier to make the money back.

If the government use a drone in a emergency in FPV and out of line of sight can we sue the government in the name of all drone operators, the persons that come up with this laws are not CAA or drone association but more like the own that complaint about drones even if a person is flying in they own garden or land, unbelievable laws and every one is breaking this right now all operators do this all the time and will never fallow non of this laws, government can use tracking etc drone builders will remove and hack the software until commune sense and friendly laws are actually done

After that I realised people in this field of work were charging about £350-£400 a day, so I started doing the same. Start at whatever you feel comfortable offering and then slowly increase your price. Just make sure you factor in the time it takes to do preparations, the flight time, travel to the job, and the fact you had to pay for the training. Hope this helps!

Not near buildings or people as I have reviewed a car already before lockdown. Not looking for shots over 5-10m. Just singular shots of static cars as the drone circles around. Have no intention to go and hire myself out. Just want to use it as backup footage on my reviews. (Review the car and have some nice panning shots or dolly zooms or crane lifts) I figure, since it has nothing to do with shooting near people or buildings and is in an open field, does it really require anything outside my current registration Flyer and Operator ID? Its complicated. But I have no interest in landscape shots. Its cheaper and only one man job to have a dolly cheat and crane style shots used lightly in a video to give it more style.

      cosh row hey man, well first off that’s really cool you wanna do that! In terms of the cheapest centre, I have seen the ranging from £650-£1500+ with the cheapest one being UAV8 based in Ipswich!
      Unfortunately I’m not gonna be much help with that side of things. I’d personally look at something like the Yuneec H520, but I’d suggest doing a lot of your own research on that

      cosh row no worries! So I mainly create promotional videos so use it when filming businesses and property’s, however I have also done work for a construction company on one of a couple houses being built and some shots for a football team.
      I do it by myself as a freelancer, hope this all helps!

      Oh right okay. Yeah so it’s valid for a year and then you pay a renewal fee. However, they are bringing in a new system this year so it’s all going to change

    I hate the CAA. Basically made it impossible for hobbyist flyers to make money with their drones. What bastards. My phantom cost me £300. I'm not spending huge amounts of money to do like 4 or 5 filming jobs a year like I want to. They clearly don't like drones, or drone pilots. They just make everything more awkward than it needs to be.

    • @stones-ds1yy
      @stones-ds1yy 3 года назад

      £300 on a drone and you think you should be able to then charge for vids/pics??? Compared to someone who is prepared to invest more than triple that on a drone alone, time, advertising, possibly computer software and a qualification 👍🏽

      @@stones-ds1yy I wouldn't do any 'professional' type jobs. Just simply someone wanted some raw pictures and video, in a low risk area. Not planning to do it full time. But that's my opinion.

    PFCO Is DEAD Anyone with a drone can now take ( From 1st July 2020 ) Video and Pictures and sell them there is no difference between the different types of flight It is all about safety now

    • @josh.nuttall
      @josh.nuttall 4 года назад

      Christopher Haslewood sorry mate but it’s not dead. As you said it’s still the only method of making money from drone footage until July. Many people will easily be able to make their money back by then, so for some it makes sense.
      Also the PfCO will stay valid, even with these new regulations, until it needs to be renewed. It’s much easier to convert to the new GVC through a conversion course, which you need to have a PfCO for. Although the term ‘PfCO’ isn’t going to be used anymore, a lot of the process and safety measures are going to be the same.
