    Literally one of my fav channels. Only a handful of them I can tolerate. This one is fun. Down to earth garage goodness.
    Love the bike. Its quick!

      Whoa !!!!.....It's the Car Wizard 🧙‍♂️ making a magical appearance 👍
      Really like your channel and your straightforward, no BS, no click bait, no flip flopping, approach to making videos....For some reason that, Rev Up Your Engines....guy. Turned his channel into BS, click bait, flip flopping. One month the new C8 Corvettes are endless money pits, don't buy one.. A few months later it's the greatest sports car ever built.

    WWWWWWWHAT?
    Did I just hear you say “ The rear brakes are ‘Knackered’?? 😆😆😆😆
    I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard an American use that British term in such a matter of fact way.
    That’s funny.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Oh, and for the love of God, try and make some kind of chain guard for your right leg.
    I can see tears!

    There are pretty awesome conversation kits for hardtail bikes available already. Tongsheng TSDZ 2 with 750 Watts for example.
    One can easily convert basically any old hardtail to an ebike with that. And it's even torque sensing.
    What I am trying to say: Jakes build is an interesting proof of concept but there are much better options available already.

    • @100PercentJake
      @100PercentJake  Год назад +4

      The MY1020 kits are pretty uniquely cheap for the amount of power they can provide, as well as allowing for controller upgrades later and being able to be used in a pedal-less situation like this. This is definitely a horrible solution compared to the myriad of e-bike specific kits out there but it is almost half as cheap as many of them, as well as more powerful.

    • @fretworkband3204
      @fretworkband3204 Год назад +2

      You’re missing the point. With various parts and common tools, Jake has proven that you can retrofit a standard bike into an electric bike for less money. And that in itself is a win.

    • @michaelbrinks8089
      @michaelbrinks8089 Год назад

      I wanted an ebike but had to go with a 2 stroke motorized bicycle kit $120+$80 parts upgrades, engine port work & add-ons =$200 40mph top speed, 80mpgs, long engine life if properly ran & maintained. Can leave outside in hot/cold no $500 battery damage to worry about from heat/cold, crash....I just lack the low end hill climbing torque & have engine noise.

    How long did the battery last on the Razor bike?
    Nevermind, I can tell from your video timeline it only lasted a few months. Which is another reason why I went with a motorized bicycle kit instead of ebike kit.

    All DC motors are speed limited by voltage while 3 phase AC motors have a set speed per frequency...

    • @100PercentJake
      @100PercentJake  Год назад

      But frequency cant exceed the stator velocity, which is voltage limited as near as i can tell.

    • @michaelsparrow8033
      @michaelsparrow8033 Год назад

      Ah... not sure I get what you mean. I'm a motor mechanic by trade for 5 years now. Simple 3 phase motors have "slip" - that is rotor speed cannot match the spees of the rotating magnetic feild (as the field pushes the rotor) a 2 pole for example is rates 3600 rpm at 60 hz, 4 pole is 1800, 6 is 1200 etc... Is that what you mean?

    That struck me as the most dangerous thing I've ever seen on youtube. Even the dude kissing the alligator. I thought when the first go round hucked the chain 50' you'd imagine how it might be if it flew of just right whilst between your legs doing 30 mph. Ouch. Children?

    i would almost be looking at a better bike for the conversion, one with hydraulic disc brakes and non quil stem. my guess is those wheels are not true and wobble like a sob. i would also repack hubs or replace with sealed cartridge bearing. that old road master probably has square taper bottom bracket with cage bearings.

    • @100PercentJake

      I built one of those 2 stroke kits I got cheap on a walgoose. those are not assembled well. I worked in bike shop for a bit and man I had to basically rebuild the whole thing. even still that turd went 35+ mph with wheels wobbling until i trued them. scarry af. wear a helmet. not worth your life.
