What a legend. When your comparing someone to Jakob Ingebrigsten, you know they're insane. Hoping this kid can stay consistent and keep improving if thats what he wants
About 15 years ago I watched a very competitive 11-year old run a 3000 at this same series. She is now a European indoor champion and is competing tonight in Eugene for UK as Amy-Eloise Markovic...running dreams come true with work and perseverance.
Why make it easy on the kid? Adversity is the fire that drives successful people. You hand him the inside lane without making him fight for it and he'll get soft. Show him the math of how much further he had to run in lane 2 and how much faster his time could have been and he'll learn quickly how to be a better tactician and how to either be a front runner or a kicker (depending on the competition) after getting experience like this.
Definitely special. My fastest mile PR as an adult is 5:22 which is pretty good for normal people but its hard to imagine a child finish half a lap faster than me being 6ft,165 in my best condition with hardly any body fat. Some people are just gifted
So he has the 4.35.. great work. My son raced his 1st ever mile race 1month ago and he is 12 and got a 4.37 looked up the record and saw a 4.35 WR great job👏👏. My son mainly runs 1500m here in australia but there are acouple of mile meets through the year so he may get a crack at it again
Great run kid. Awesome time... my son is 12 yrs old and runs 800m 1500m and anything up to 5km. He raced his 1st mile at a track challenge and got a 4.37. Looked up the world record for a 12yr old mile and its 4.35 so not far off and is currently running sub 4.20 for 1500m. He will be 13 in june 2024 so hopefully he geta a crack at it by then. All the best Quinton keep kickn goals
Wow, I remember at my middle school, the mile record was 5:45 (set by a kid in our class) - all the school records for various events were on a board in the hallway.. that would be about this kid's age..
Insane! I didn’t hit 4:45 in the mile till I was 16. This kids going to be something if he puts in work. Lmao he should go to Newbury Park and run because the Young family was insane at Newbury Park.
I know. Like Jakob with the age 11 world record and several after that? And that Mario Garcia Romo guy with the age 11 1000 meter world record? And those Josh Kerr and Jake Wightman guys who have been running against each other competitively since age 8 coached by parents? Let’s not head that direction by any means!
Could not believe the amount of runners on the track! He spent most of the race 2-wide & boxed-in, so may have been able to do it if given a better run.
My friend is the fastest 13 year old in the UK, he recently got the 12 year old 1500m world record. I can't remember his exact time but it was around 4:08 - 4:12.
Great job young man, honestly think you would have gotten it if there weren't others in your way. It's all good though you're 11 man, you have yet to scratch the surface of what you'll accomplish. Never heard of you until now but you've got a new fan in me
Holy smokes this kid is fast, I’m only 15 almost 16 and I think a 5:47 is fast and this guy is 4 years younger than me and destroying my pr by 1 minute, this kid has a good future What do I know I’m not a professional
Wow, I didn't think Daniel Skandera's age group world records were going to get challenged any time soon! Quentin is right on the cusp. Best of luck to him.
Have you retired? Haven't see one in a while and was anxious to hear how the two workout a day running was going. I can't believe you broke four minutes without running twice a day. I'm older than you by a lot, but growing up I remember all my heroes like Jim Ryun and John Walker always ran two a days. Hope all is well, Dan
Well done. My 7th -12th grade mile PR times were 5:20, 4:56, 4:36, 4:24, 4:10 and 4:08 (the last being a true mile at Golden West). I went to a school that didn't even have a surfaced track, though my coaching and intensity was atypical. What is amazing is those times will sit on a wall for 20 years as untouchable and then some kid will look at them and decide it's his mission to beat them. It's always impressive to see the next generation take those records further.
Ahh this lil mupput. He is so sweet and obviously insanely talented. I hope his parents can put his health, mental as well as physical above their desires for him. I wish the lil guy all the best...
Crazy how he ran in lane 2 the entire race whilst dodging others!
824m for the first 2 laps
Ikr! Felt bad for him lol
@@justinbloomer So he basically ran 4:43 right? Since it was in lane 2 and he had extra meters to run?

Awesome Spencer that you are giving back and helping the up and coming runners. 👍
Those adults couldn't give the kid the inside lane? I guess they didn't want to get beat by an 11 yr old. Smh
i mean true but also its a competition and this kid is a top tier athlete so adults should treat him as if he is an adult

@@JoeMac1983 Also couldn't he have done a solo time trial while Spence paced him? That would have been another solution as well.
“Pretty happy”
Great video and kudos to SB for taking time out of his day to help this kid out!
Great work can't wait for the fact that as time goes on his kick is going to get better and better
This kid will be the new Athlete Special and take over Spencer's channel. This is no laughing matter.

ok im here from the future and this man has all the world records.
Nice job of giving back, good to see you are helping to mentor upcoming runners! And lastly, poor Georgie. Traumatized forever...
I was also 11 last year but run for westpoint!!! We both live in Utah… I bet we will be each other in the mile… guess I have tough competition!!!!!!
I’m 13 and ran 4:59 at an all comers meet this guy is seriously fast.
Quenton just ran a 4:35 mile to get the 12 year old world record. Keep it up, young man!
Yeah, it was a crazy race… pacer pushing him on at the end gave me chills!

Wonderful aerobic ability and pacing for his age. When he grows taller, he should be able to sharpen his form. As he is, he's a big talent.
Holy smokes. Mad respect to you Quinton

Get him in a race that’s less crowded, record will come easy!
The story rarely ends well for child prodigy's with aggressive parents. I wish him well.

Just like it did for Jakob
Not to mention the training he has to be undergoing, which could be impairing his statural growth.
Big foot baby 🦶
And that is a great video!

Man I wish I could have seen you, I usually go to this stadium but didn't go the week you did
You can go pro Quinten! Go brother!
We want to see a Bigfoot hunt for next week’s video
go Quintin you have got this
He’s a legend!
I’m 11 and can run a 4:45 mile… is that good?

Come on Spencer we all need more content!

Bro I’m 13 and I run a 4:56 and 4:45 is crazy fast I can’t wait to see him keep improving and prolly win the Olympic Gold one day.
I know people saying they won’t give him the inside lane but he had. 1 for a while and that’s how it is if you control lane 1 you control the race
Aye lil dude finna go places frl 💪🏾😭
Bro why tf did the adults not give him the inside lane?
BRO HOW
He coulda ran 4:43 if y’all woulda had him hug the rail
even faster each lap he was running in the second lane which I believe adds 12m per lap
This kid just set the 11-12 National Record in the 3k to win USATF Junior Olympics and won the 1500 the next day as well 👀
Cool where Spencer been tho?
What was his 3k time?
Jesus christ. It didn't take me up until 20 years old before I broke 5 in the mile. The kid is going places
That still solid time for 20 years old but wouldn't be impressive for 21-35 years old
I can't believe that I ran my cross country meet at the same place Quinton ran his mile
Which is the shoreline stadium
I bet he goes 4:43 if it's less crowded.

how’s the kid doing spence?
My 14 year old team mate got 4:43 on a meet on Sunday!
BTW Spencer, Are you now transitioning from your 3 weeks of Ingebrigsten Training to Jake Wightman Training?
W 💪🏾😭🏅
You know there's 9 year olds in Kenya running the mile in under 3 minutes.
he ran in lane 2 the whole race so he has to run an extra 25ish meters
Was this Seattle
FUN FACT: Quenton is a twin. Pretty sure that's his twin sister Caitlin seen cheering him on from the infield. She is also a good runner.
Cool kid!
I didn’t get the Bigfoot thing but God bless you guys 😅
homie go in lane one 💀

I went to elementry school with Quenton.
Same here lmao
how much does this kid train per week?
Quenton ran approx 30 mpw at the peak of his season this year. He runs 4-5days/wk. Usually 2 workout days + a long run as a family on Sundays.
If the kid didn't get so boxed in I really think he could have done it.
