Getting John C Reilly when you aren’t expecting him is like Christmas morning.
Right? Absolutely perfect. Music videos are a lost art and this really hits the spot.
Thanks for ruining xmas
Did you put your balls on my drum kit 😂
He actually came up with the idea and talked Jack White into make a music video for it.
@@hang1893 That is amazing
John C. Reily having his Christopher Walken moment via Jack White, yes and thank you.
Not even in the same realm as CW
I saw John and almost screamed. So happy....
@FucU4ever CW is a legend, but Reily is still a treasure.
First thing that came to mind.

Nice to see Dewey Cox is still making music
Didn't Jack White play Elvis in that?!

⚡️🌟✨
Sounds about right. Lol
For those who may not be aware, the lyrics of this song is a chain letter, a type of mail one might receive back in the day before the internet even was. It encouraged people to copy and distribute the copies, promising blessings (as in this case) or misfortune (in others).
Or both.
The idea lives on today in all the mediums, but I can't say i ever understood what motivated people to make them, even back in their heyday. It's not like any of them were promoting a business or even tracking data. Maybe the people who made them were just bored.
Many of them involved money in a pyramid scheme. I remember my parents receiving the letters form friends and telling me to ignore them. Sending the letter to 7 friends would get you money form 7 friends.
I saw him typing the letter .
BARF.... I got a few of them. The first one scared the shit outta me because I was pretty young and I didn't know who to send it to, so i thought someone would hunt me down and slaughter my ass. Lol
I got the same vibe but more like an ad for a faith healer.
Yeah, it definitely sounds like someone was fishing for fools! It also sounds like an evangelical pastor trying to guide his flock in the right direction 😜🤑
Jack White's guitar tone is still so good. Crunchy. Gnarley. Beefy.
And his vocal delivery is absolutely unmistakable.
Totally agree about the guitar sound... I call it "dirty guitar" because of the crunchiness lol
It kinda sounds like a mix between "Pain" and "Little Cream Soda"

Seven friends is the perfect number of friends to bring.
More like 2 friends, 2 cousins, and 3 co-workers…
I believe it's actually a code . The 7 !
I'm 68. Jack White has been my favorite rock performer for something like 22 years. Such immense talent!
Me too, love him in all his iterations
I feel it from my toes to my teeth.
My brother was the one that got me to listen to the White Stripes in the early 2000's. He passed away almost ten years ago, and every now and then a rare moment comes where I see or hear something and get teary and emotional thinking, "Andrew woulda f*cking loved this I wish he was here." Here is one of those moments. This is great.
❤
Thanks for sharing!!
Andrew has great fkng taste!
Hugs! May his memory be a blessing.
Still alive in your memory and heart. He's definitely rocking with you. ❤
I feel that. My best friend passed almost 15 years ago and I feel it extra hard every time I play a game or watch a movie that I know he would've liked.
I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed a music video. This is a good one
That seems like your fault for not watching enough music videos, there's a lot of good ones. I recommend to you: Amyl and the Sniffers

I just discovered this song/video yesterday and am completely addicted. Thank you Jack and bandmates for this amazing song and video.
The hisses at the end of his S sounds, because these men are snakes. Genius
Great use of crazy word of faith strangeness!

This is what was needed today. God bless Jack White
Try The Hives too, uploaded today
Who do you think he's mocking here?
Dear friend, if you wanna feel better
Don't let the devil make you toss this letter
If you've been crossed up by hoodoo voodoo
A wizard or the lizard
You got family trouble, man trouble, woman trouble
No light through the tunnel
If you're lookin' for a true friend, or a true lover
Or if you've been livin' undercover
Well, I'm comin' to your town to break it all down
And help you with all of this
I'm lookin' to help you find bliss one day
Or one way, can't miss
I'm here to tear all the walls down
Doesn't matter if it's a large town or a small town
Just like Joshua and the fabled walls of Jericho
I'm here to tear down the institution
God spoke to me, said, "Listen to me
I anoint you with the power that'll get 'em all movin'"
You're agitated, you've prayed, and meditated
You're concentrated on gettin' elevated
By sundown Monday
You who come will be blessed with a big money blessing
You will be doubted by all the unbelievers
And all the friends I'm addressin'
But you must tell seven friends
You must first bring seven friends
And don't be selfish and keep this all to yourself
And don't eat shellfish
Hate is trying to take someone else's love for yourself
But I'm here to tell you that love is trying to help someone else
I realize that you have tried and tried
And are just about ready to give up
But I got good news for you
God has spoken to my mind and told me to
Tell you to get moving in the right direction for a change
I'm gonna put you in the fast lane
You need to see me right away so I can fix this, ah
You need to see me right away
You need to see me right away so I can fix this, ah
You need to see me right about now
God of Seven, open up the windows of Heaven
And pour out a rich and mighty blessing
Not on his town or her town, but your town
Are you ready for the message?
I have a special financial blessing that
Once I have placed in your hand
Yeah, I want you to begin using this blessing
On the very first day that you can
And if you are suffering a strange sickness, ah
Or someone is blocking up all of your success, ah
You need to see me right away so I can fix this, ah
Signed, sincerely yours in faith, love, and peace
Your friend, Archbishop Harold Holmes
How does he sleep with all that static?
Thank you 😊

This is like my hundredth time listening to this song this week, its such a fucking jam.
One of the actresses in the video is Arrow de Wilde from the band Starcrawler. It's cool to see artists participating in each other's work.
And her boyfriend, Gilbert Trejo (son of THE Danny Trejo) directed it!
THANK YOU! That was driving me crazy!! I was like "I know that person! Who is it?!?!?!" LOL.
@@Baloneyman666that's cool
And her mom, Autumn, is the photographer that did the album art for Icky Thump and the Raconteurs’ albums (among many, many others).
What a pretty name she has...
Incredible how a "simplistic" riff can sound so good, especially with this type of singing. Excellent song
That's what I dig about music like this...not trying to reinvent the wheel.
Lets just crank up the amps and wind out some rock n roll!.
This is TRUE rock n roll!!!!!
Jimmy Page will be suing soon.
You ain't got a thang if you ain't got that swang..

Jack so deserves to be in the rock n roll Hall of Fame
Absolutely, without a doubt
They will be
He definitely will be don't worry
The White Stripes already are. And based on the number of years required from first album - it'll be at least a decade before he can be as a solo artist. I guarantee he'll be in the first year if his eligibility.
Well he will have to wait in line behind the rappers
Mr White. Oh, mister White.
How many times times can an artist break the sound barrier and keep upping your own game?
You are a true master. Thank you. Bless you. Rock you.
The cherry on top is this video, which would make Stanley Kubrick hit play again, and again , and again...
All rock and no roll makes Jack a smooth operator 😎

@@OscarBruett I really don't mean to imply that, apologies if I came off that way. But I'm just pointing out one religious expression that we'd probably all agree is bad - taking advantage of the sick and the old with promises of health and wealth.
Once again, Jack White saves rock! We could use a few more....
John C Reilly is fucking amazing! So badass to get him for this
One of the very last true rock n rollers of blues, punk, country, and an vast array of callaborations with all of the greats including Dylan, Jimmy Page, The Stones, Paul McCartney, Ringo, Neil Young, Elton John, Loretta Lynn, Wanda Jackson, and it just goes on and on. Now we must tell seven friends about this music video. Magnificent.
This comes with the assumption that everyone knows about JW's love of the number three. It is used frequently with his name, albums, merch, and connects to his record label Third Man Records. I'm really into typewriters and that blue vintage Corona typewriter really caught my eye. I looked it up and it's a Corona 3 series typewriter. It was the company's first folding and portable typewriter, it was also the first to come in a variety of colors, like the midnight blue. Which is the the same color that the album artwork for NO NAME is. Also, the serial numbers for this specific machine all start with the number 3, and the series itself was in production for about three decades. Just had to nerd out really quick. 💙
This. This is why I love the internet.
I’m a JW/JG nerd and proud 💯
thnx!
and the radio was on AM 1300 :P
Prestige worldwide is crushing it these days
Black leather gloves for sure 😂
It´s an absolute banger. If I was unemployed I´d be replaying it all day. Shout out to Justin Hawkins for bringing me back to Jack White.
I love the ending, indicates that the lightning we were seeing in the church on his body was symbolic of him getting shock therapy in the mental health institution.
i think the ending was a critique about how pastors sometimes dictate people's lives and tell them what to do, but in the end they might be just self-absorbeb lunatics
@@tradutorajuliana And that anyone preaching love rather than hate too enthusiastically are treated as though they are lunatics.
@@pattheplanter I think you may have missed the point...
@phantomshadowfax5431 Art can be very subjective and nuanced, are you sure you noticed all the "points"? The nods to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and 1980s Talking Heads are clear. Consider their themes.
Patt i think you have a great sense of the depth of music, have you taken a look at Kendrick's discography? Its way offline from rock music but that rabbit hole is deeper than nearly any other artist I've listened to
"I'm gonna tear down the institution" just took on a whole new meaning for me.
Hah! His hand gestures during the "Family troubles? Man troubles? Woman troubles? No light through the rubble?" are exactly what I do when I sing along to this tune. What a great song from a great album.
Damn jack white you hit it out of the park with this song and vid.

Uncle Baby Billy Reilly
It's like this was made for that show.
Or a spinoff series.
When he turns to the camera & says "But you must tell seven friends...You must first bring seven friends" he temporarily turns into a surreal Doctor Seuss character. Then it goes back into the song. Like it didn't happen.

I turn 40 tomorrow. Love JW, love JCR, love Step Brothers. Did we just become best friends?
This piece is beyond brilliant in many ways. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest sends its regards, and Jack's father's performance is simply brilliant. More of this, please.
With a touch of 1980s Talking Heads, thematically.
Jack White, those guitar tones and riffs.... Yeah, rock isn't dead.. Just evolved..
John C. Reilly! Incredible choice Mr. White. Great tune.
My favorite thing Jack White ever did
I have received the message! Pastor Jack White has giveth unto us the good words. The great riffs. And the electrified sermon. All praise JW.
Amen!
Praise Archbishop Harold Holmes!
Agreed. Amen 🙏
In my humble opinion, Jack is the last guitar hero of my generation. A true genius
Then you don't know music. There are alot of great guitar players out there.
I love this. It has what rock and roll has always promised but seldom delivered.
this song absolutely slays. one of jacks best vocal performances
This is exactly how I sing jack white in my bedroom
Everything is the best of Jack White. The guitar is so driving, the riff is so good to stick with you, with enough effects to not distract. The song has really good narrative story. It’s so tight. Also a video with John C Reilly.
One of the great songs from an album that has nothing but great songs. I have been listening to the "No Name" album every few weeks since it first came out. I still can't believe how great it is and keep coming back to it. Not ashamed to admit it makes me feel sad (and so old!) that in a different time, this music would have been a truly big deal in the culture. Just as big of a deal as - (insert name of your favorite iconic classic album here)... Bonus points for a video whose message is that religion is for and by crazy folks! Thank you, Jack White!
Wasn't expecting a music video for Archbishop!!
Apparently John C. Reilly contacted him to do it, from what I read. The idea was Reilly's. Definitely glad it got done!
Jack got the Clutch vibe on this one. Killer tune.
This is the song Clutch wishes they wrote
Nailed it. That's who I was thinking of with this tune.
I can see why youtube suggested this in the feed of my account. John C. Reilly, little blue typewriter, Iconoclasm. Very cool!

Gotta love Jack White still bringing us real music🫶🏻
One of my favorite songs on the record, if you can see him live make sure you do, this album is absolutely incredible hard hitting rock
A killer riff to a STRONG song
Driving rhythm
Intelligent clever lyrics delivered with instant appeal
A multi layered accomplished actor driving the story
All these things together don't just happen by accident. You gotta keep it real and let it loose like Jack do.
We love Jack White in this household
Currently obsessed with this song. First time seeing the video. Just when I didn’t think it could possibly be any better…
Same. Haha
Jack has done it again.
Good choice to play a fire and brimstone preacher. John C Reilly is a great actor
I love the way John C Reilly looks into the camera and says 'You must first bring seven friends' 😆
There are public speakers that I could never take seriously yet could happily listen to all day long. This song shows all the qualities of those people and puts it to music. Love it.
This song is an absolute classic! I fell in love with it right away 💙
Easily the best song on the album!
the first time I listened to the album when it got this song I was like oh yeah we are so fucking back
I've had experience with confused people in institutions. This is spot on. Lots of Admirals. Governors. and Archbishops! Interesting video. The actor did a great job lip syncing WHILE acting. JW's guitar tone, is great as is the radio and lightning.
