I have fallen asleep to Gil's talks for years. Not because he is boring, but because I find it beautiful to fall asleep to his voice and message. I can just relax and think about the message.
Even though he has never even heard of me I must consider him as my Teacher. Of all the monastic and lay teachers that I have heard in last 10 years I find that in Gil's humble words there is always this certain truthfulness that I can rely on. There's always also some depth and purpose in each dhamma talk that I don't hear as often from many other teachers. Thank you Gil. See you in the next life maybe.
What I appreciate about Gil Fronsdal is he is Real and he shares real and also in his presentation, he seems to have done serious work on what he is taking about and that is why I feel it is so effective and helpful. I am so glad to be able to listen to a lot of his Dharma talks on uTube. Very helpful and I appreciate the topics he talks about and how he talks about them. He truly is a spiritual friend/teacher.
Thank you for this enlightening talk. Your measured teachings are a blessing. "We do not tell stories as they are, Anaïs Nin wrote, we tell stories as we are. "How do you tame a wild elephant? Put it on a very large field." A wee poetic reply, Anger Possessed red mist rage unable to turn the page. Wanting to be seen abandoned screams. Blaming the other able to kill a brother. Too late to go for a walk to sit down calmly and talk. To give presence of mind to hold the other in time. Unable to see I'm doing this to me.
Love seeing the video to go w/the always insightful audio discussions you've published via audiodharma. Through YT, it'd also be interesting to see some conversations between a facilitator and one of the teachers in order to learn about their backgrounds and what brought them together at IMC. Maybe some 15 mins or so of discussion would give us add'l perspective on a certain teacher's talks. Thanks for all you do!
Gil. So intelligent. So compassionate. What a gift these talks are.
