Really really love this version! more authentic, it feels the lyrics better in terms of emiting the message than the original version that it's more like a ballad....here it's like a tribal valsz! Sublime!!
Hauntingly beautiful demo. Interesting to see the changes Phil made to what became a monster world-wide mega-hit. I could listen to Phil just sing the phone book but especially love his “Oohs” here!
Great Music. Purposeful beautiful lyrics with effective message.Still freshing even after 20 years. Just love it.It makes you to just think about...........
There are thousands of homeless people in New York City. On a given night, 51,000 sleep in city and private shelters, according to the Coalition for the Homeless. Thousands more sleep outside.
funny, when i learnined to play this song as a little kid, i had never heard this demo but played the song at this same pace and style. i think i was about 8 or 10 when i heard this on my moms cd player in a custom built sony 8 speaker system and had to learn it. i was fixed by the melody. took about 20 min to get the music down. 4 song i ever learned.
A matter of personal preference of course but this is laboured and having been used to the release version, this sounds really weird. I much preferred the original myself.
I actually like the demo being darker and a little bit more empty than the final version. Still, it's a great song and it's the best one on the But Seriously album.
The first time I heard the song I was a Security Guard at a Condo Complex in North Miami near South Beach some of the people did not like it because they wanted Disco /Dancing Music
Artists like him will never come back again!
Phil makes the difference in the music world.

Sublime!!
I love this version more than the original!
This is even darker than the version that got released...and that was easily Phil Collins' darkest song since the Hello, I Must Be Going! album.
Hauntingly beautiful demo. Interesting to see the changes Phil made to what became a monster world-wide mega-hit. I could listen to Phil just sing the phone book but especially love his “Oohs” here!
😅❤😂😅❤😅❤😅😂😅
Love the hit version, love this version. Funny how the demo sounds more like Genesis than Phil.
Holy Cow I have always loved Phil Collins Music But this is A sweet new sound....awesome

Wow. Amazing sound to such a moving song.
As popular as his hits were, he is so underappreciated for the musical talent has.
I believe the synthesizer used for this demo is a Roland D-50 with the "Metal Harp" preset enabled.😮
Where do you get all these? It's really interesting to see how these songs have developed.
Very interesting early stages of "Another day in paradise".

i like the demo rather than the original release

Great version, way better than the official version. It is not demo, it is more like an alternate take.
Not really.
A matter of personal preference of course but this is laboured and having been used to the release version, this sounds really weird. I much preferred the original myself.
It’s a demo.

It sounds very cool, but it loses focus with 3/4 time. He was wise transposing it to 4/4, so that he could perform the lyrics better, give them space.
This is so beautiful. It has an emotional sound to it that the album version just can't match.
One day I will learn to play this on the paino
these demo's are very excellent finds, makes utube worth logging into everyday
so amazing this,i wish it was available on itunes
So much better than the album version!
+robertgraddage All it needed was the full lyrics from the final version and extra verses for it and thats it. A hit.
what a amazing version...!!!
thank you so much for posting....
special greetings from Vienna
I sort of feel that way too. Both versions are great, but this has more heart in it.
I actually like this more than the official version

This version (from I Wish It Would Rain Down CD single) is better than the album version and the 4:18 demo found on Other Sides digital album.
