At home we only use real power or active power. The company does not charge for reactive power for house. It only charges for real power. Only industries use reactive power more so they have to pay surcharges for reactive power and add capacitor banks for power factor correction. So why to worry about that if the power distribution company did not charge for. Please answer me if u have doubts please reply.

Large commercial customers, however, are often penalized for having bad power factors, as it raises costs for the supplier to provide that additional current.
