He named himself as "Holland" because that's the first country to legalise same sex marriage. I was really surprised that neither Yumi or Jei didn't know about him. I thought he might be so popular. I got to know him as the first open gay idol. I mean he acted as the main character in korean BL drama called "Ocean likes me". He also did a cameo in the recent BL drama "Roommates of Poongduck 304" (as Ho Cheol - Seo Jaeyoon's friend). He even has a RUclips channel.
I've read a lot that international fans perceptions of how popular any idol or group might be in Korea doesn't usually match up with reality. From what I've heard, Koreans tend to lean towards solo ballad singers, they're not really that into pop music and Kpop is kind of brushed off to be for young kids and middle school kids. They also tend to really not know much about what goes on with the Kpop scene unless it's an artist under a Big 3 company and even then they might only know the group name or have heard a song or two and not know more.
Understand that Korean is a conservative country. Many are unsupportive of the community (of course, not the individuals in this video). So Holland and other LGBTQ+ people from the K-Pop community are often hindered. It is hard to gain fame and support. Being the “first” doesn’t mean you’ll gain fame easily.

You have the answer in your comment actually. They re not only fans of their music.. they re obsessed with these idols. They re possessive bc idols are « created » for them unfortunately. They way idols, dress, looks, act, everything is made up by their agency, it’s a persona. This is really unhealthy.
@@Solip_i like what is wrong with these fans. Why do they act like idols are their possession??? They can do whatever they like and fans have nthg to do with it
Fans invade their idols’ privacy because they want to feel a “closer connection” with them (like an obsessive stalker). The more they know about them, the more they feel “special” or “important” to their favorite idol. And when they date, they feel an inferiority complex. It’s also sad to realize agencies know this. They want idols to form a closer bond with their fans to gain money and fame more easily. That’s why they encourage building up a fanbase and leaking their privacy. It’s all dirty business.
I don't really care at all if an idol it's gay or if she has a girlfriend or she's married, the only things I worry about idols it's that they stay healthy (mentally and physically), their appearances in TV shows and YT series/videos and being able to create amazing music, that's all I need from them.
Which is how it should be, in my opinion. Actually i think a lot of idols would benefit from being in relationships because they can have someone to support and understand them. And it's sad that they have to give up their dreams of forming a family in order to be an artist.
@@crazyowlgirlcncowner exactly! And also, it's a bad thing for their life in general not to be able to date and have romantic or sexual relationships because that experience is important for their future too... Exactly, I mean we should all just be here for they're music and talents. Just pay attention to your own life and appreciate their work as an artist 🤷♂️ You shouldn't care about their sexuality(because that's for them to know unless they want to announce/come out) and whatever just focus on the music they produce
@@Joziahwasright exactly. Of course you're gonna like some idols physically and also their personality, that is not the problem, we all are human and can feel attracted to anyone by his/her looks and personality (myself, for example, I can say that I completely love how Yunjin from Le Sserafim and Yuqi from (G)I-DLE are and of course I find them attractive), the problem starts when you become obsessed by them and become a jerk with them when they are dating someone... My point is: fall in love with whoever you want, that's something human and that can happen but please, if you really want them to be happy (as you always claim by being a fan), then show them your support and love when they marry someone or when they are dating someone, they chose that person for a reason and we have to support them and feel happy for them! 💪🏻✨ Same goes for when they say they are lesbian or gay, support them and feel proud of them by being able to say it out loud because we know how things still are in Korea about that subject.

@@elenasantoro2404 I mean, yeah that’s better in a way, cause it breaks some taboo’s, but let’s be honest, a lot of people also watch same sex relationship dramas cause they fetishize them, not exactly because they support the community. Like men with lesbians, or fans with gay shipping. A sickening amount of BL is about fetishizing and sexualizing gay relationships over actually representing them. I’m queer and I used to read/watch (mostly webtoons/ff) a lot of BL at first (cause it didn’t have misogyny), but like 90% are beyond toxic and so clearly sexualized/fetishized. I'm from the Netherlands, but I didn't know that's why he called himself Holland. That's pretty cool. Also, little fun fact: Holland is actually just a small part of the Netherlands. There's two provinces called north and south Holland that are Holland together. Even though Holland is often used to refer to the Netherlands as a whole, in reality it's just a part of the country
I wish it would become more normal for idols to be people too. People that date and have different orientations etc. I'm so glad to see Holland here. Thank you for having him on this show.

several Kpop singers are gay and in huge famous groups. Many are depressed, suffer from loneliness and anxiety due to it. Sadly some have killed themselves. Due to SK's stance on gay rights they keep hidden. So sad and I hope one day SK will join the rest of the world on equality. As a fan your job is to listen to their music, watch their shows, buy their music and merch, stream. NOT dictate who they date and when. Not be up in their personal life. Only in Kpop do you see such and extreme interest in the personal lives of artist. In America when a singer dates we are happy for them and support them and if they break up we get mad at their ex with them lol
I didn't care about if idol is gay or lesbien ,they are dating or not ...something matters they should be happy and continue making music and people understand them..they are humans too💜
I knew about him beforehand but it's the first time I'm watching any content related to Holland and I really liked how he seems so confident and sure about himself and in his body :) assumed he would be as it takes that strength to be able to come out as an idol but to see it was very refreshing

I remember this young artist.... I left a comment about the MV *Neverland*. Beautiful song. It's wonderful to see how well Holland is doing in life & how far he continues to soar!!! My granddaughter was 13 yrs old when she told me that she was a lesbian, and how hard it was for her to come to me and open up. My only question to her was .... "Are YOU Happy" she said yes, and "that's all that matters... I will love her no matter who she is, what she chooses to be in life or what her sexual preferance is .... WHY? Because she is a Person that brings me joy, love, pride & above all happiness... shouldn't I, as her grandmother give her the same unconditional emotional support? YES.....!!! If you think otherwise... well, that is something that will rot slowly into your soul .. which is none of my concern.
Holland is so darned adorable and paving a way for so many in the LBGQTI+ community and the bravery it takes to do that in such a conservative country. I so look forward to seeing where his life and career takes him! 💜🦋

It sadens me that not only are homosexuals still treated this way in Korea, what sadens me the most is, that the culture they live in teach them from youth that treating them like that is ok. This guy had a lot of curage to come out before debut and i admire him deeply. I wish more people would do this in a quest to normalize LGBT, because Korea must feel like prison for them in a way. I realy hope one day Korea join the club and realize that different sexuality is not a disease or political statement, but completely normal natural thing and people who hapen to be this way deserve the same amount of respect as anyone else. Human beings should never be judged by sexuality. I dont even understand how this is not self evident truth everywhere... I like so many things about Korea, but these social dogmas alone infuriateme. Its sad to see at times idols from Korea, who are obviously gay, to pretend something else all the time, wearing a mask of lies in a fear, that their true self image would end their career entirely.
i think with dating things, international fans are way more open about this because most countries used to that. in my country, celebrities dating are like public consuming things. they even makes money with that. but korea are not used to that to the point dating is considered a scandal. even more with idols especially these days. 4th gen idols can’t even interact because they’re afraid of rumors. its sad that we’re going down from where we used to be. 2nd~3rd gen idols even do ads together and participate in we got married. i really hope people stop thinking that having someone to love is a sin for idols
He always seems like a really cute human being, I hope he is as fine as can be in and with his life, like healthwise and all that stuff people have to boggle with being humans and Artists.
Holland's speaking voice is very pleasant. It was nice to see him get increasingly comfortable and natural as the video went on. He looked pretty stiff when he first came on, but very charming as it went on.
You're right to be worried about him getting hurt. Because he has been, and not just emotionally/verbally -- and not just in the distant past. I will always admire and respect him for his courage. He stands out there every single day being a magnet for hate and disdain and judgment (even more so than every other idol, because lbr, it's an innately toxic environment) while just trying to live his life being true to himself and making art. All while essentially on his own, without fellow queer idols standing alongside him to provide support or strength in numbers or a united front or even just a cushion against the hateful spotlight. Someday queer idols and other artists will be safe to be out, and I hope when that time finally comes, people will remember that Holland laid some of the very first pavers on that path. He takes the hits rn so later down the line, others won't have to. He shouldn't have to either, but the world can really suck sometimes.

i was there when holland debuted and i listened to his song and thought it was alright, i once followed him on instagram too. lately i saw him being friends with idols i know like yeri but haven’t seen his new song since debuted. its refreshing to see him here since i almost never see him anywhere.
I was so excited to see Holland on the show!!! Thank you Giggle!
oohhhhh my baby Holland!!! I was so excited to see your face here
You don't know how fast i clicked on the video, I was really exited to see Holland in the thumbnail, sending lots of love, keep fighting❤❤❤
So happy to see more of holland on youtube! he's been through so much but still shines with so much love, and his charming personality doesn't get enough appreciation
I didn't know about Holland....but now onwards I will support as much as I can. Holland, stay safe and healthy....be happy.
I am a Mexican fan of Holland, I love him very much, him as a person and his art as a singer and now as an actor, so as a person who lives on the other side of the world I feel a little sad that these people who live on his country do not recognize him (I know the reasons, I do not accept them, but I understand them) I wish they could see how he is loved around the world
I love Holland so much 😭❤️ he is such an icon both in fashion and music scene 💙❤️ I'm so proud for all the success he is having and the strength he has to fight against those who hurt him 🏳️🌈💙 I love you Holland I will always support you ❤️❤️
its so funny to me when people say they dont know of any gay idols. there are so many of them that THERE MUST BE SO MANY!!
Awww, he's such a cutiepie. Glad to see him here
I see Holland on the thumbnail I click. This man deserves more recognition and the world!! I'm waiting for new music from him. I hope that Giggle invites OnlyOneOf too because they're very supportive of the LGBTQ community as well.
OMG Holland X Giggle? the collab we never knew we needed, I love this so much!
The talk between Holland and the girls was really nice, I really like watching videos like this...
Love Holland, he’s so kind and courageous! He’s talented and I wish slowly more people from Korea will grow to know him and understand that he deserves respect and that the sexuality of an idol shouldn’t be an issue
No one after Seokcheon hyung? Now i'm thinking if Mrshll wasn't already on TV, but i think it was only RUclips things etc, not on national TV or so..
Anyways, props to Giggle. And the styling on Holland, I'd totaly wear that(if i had such figure xD)
Mrshll was on Show Me The Money as a ft. for Woo Won Jae, but I don't think he got more tv besides that unfortunately.
Холланд очень смелый и приятный парень
Желаю, чтобы у него всё в жизни было хорошо 🥺
several Kpop singers are gay and in huge famous groups.
How do u know that
@@kkde9211 law of probability. very naive to think everyone is straight. that includes popular groups as well.
I didn't care about if idol is gay or lesbien ,they are dating or not ...something matters they should be happy and continue making music and people understand them..they are humans too💜
holland continues to inspire so many people i hope he’s always happy
I knew about him beforehand but it's the first time I'm watching any content related to Holland and I really liked how he seems so confident and sure about himself and in his body :) assumed he would be as it takes that strength to be able to come out as an idol but to see it was very refreshing
So happy for you Holland showing the true self of you. You deserve to be happy and love of all your fans💙
So happy for him. Hopefully Korea can eventually become more open minded and accepting 🫶🏻
I hope they accept muslims as they accept the lgbtq
AHHHHH IM SCREAMING MY FAV KPOP IDOL IS ON MY FAV YT CHANNEL
Oh, I’m surprised they haven’t heard of Holland as an artist. I’m not Korean but I heard of him and his music a couple years ago.
When I saw Holland here I was a bit nervous for how the guests would react but I’m happy to see that they were pretty accepting and respectful.
Way to go Holland! Wishing you good health, success and every happiness you deserve! 💗💗💗
I love him!! 😭❤️🏳️🌈
반복편집말고 교차편집이면 더재밌겠네요 인사하다 반이끝나네
I hate people getting mad at their idols dating (whoever). I mean. Their happiness should be your top priority. CMON.
I've been Harling since debut. I adore Holland so much and so proud of him!
I've heard of Holland, I didn't know that was him. He was so brave coming out before he debuted.
HEcking love Holland. Thanks for having him on Giggle~

He has such a likeable personality! I’ll always root for you Holland!
Greetings from Holland 😉
Holland always makes me very happy and a bonus is that I'm from the Netherlands, so it's really cool that he named himself after us.
As a person who lives in the Netherlands, is a part of the LGBTQ+ community and listens Kpop, this video has a special place in my heart.

I was waiting so bad for a video like this with Holland! Lov u sm Holland! 🫂
The way koreans get upset when an idol is dating 💀 sick in the head fr
Fr
YES.....!!! If you think otherwise... well, that is something that will rot slowly into your soul .. which is none of my concern.
you're an amazing grandmother!!
I'm so proud of you Holland you are the best
yaay Holland is the perfect person to be on here :) I hope lots of people see this and start liking his art :)
Holland is so darned adorable and paving a way for so many in the LBGQTI+ community and the bravery it takes to do that in such a conservative country. I so look forward to seeing where his life and career takes him! 💜🦋
When I saw the thumbnail suddenly I was like😮😮uriii holland? 😂Damn I'm so happy to see him here ❤️🥺

I think Holland is so great. Despite the difficulties he had. he was always open and honest and stands by it.
Holland you're doing everything right. You're a great singer and entertainer. Just a wonderful person.Holland stay as you are. And don't let others tell you anything. I wish you a lot of love in your life and that you meet the right one.
a big fan of yours.
greetings from Germany🇩🇪
Holland became even more pretty. How is that even possible???
*HOLLAND* ♥
He looks great and he's such an amazing artist. All the best for him and his new projects. I love his new song and hopefully he'll have a new drama soon.
I couldn't stop laughing when the girl in pink said: "Can all your organs fit in there?" 😉😀
It sadens me that not only are homosexuals still treated this way in Korea, what sadens me the most is, that the culture they live in teach them from youth that treating them like that is ok.
I love you, Holland! And the Giggle team, you are all the best 🤗🤗🤗. I hope there's a part two, because my gosh, blink and this video was over 😥
So happy for him fr… I knew him before he came out and seeing him getting bigger is so cool 😭
I couldn't stop smiling the whole time 😭 I love Holland sm
i think with dating things, international fans are way more open about this because most countries used to that. in my country, celebrities dating are like public consuming things. they even makes money with that. but korea are not used to that to the point dating is considered a scandal. even more with idols especially these days.
Estoy taan feliz por él, espero que pueda cumplir todas las metas que se proponga, se merece todo lo bonito en esta vida!
His outfit looked amazing!! Holland is a great person.
Hey Holland, NEW FAN ALERT! Looked you up, subscribed, and can’t wait to spend my next few days watching your videos!
I remember he debuted around the time when txt my playlist would play txt tdc: dream chapter album and Holland nar c song 2019 spring was so pretty 💛
