This week Eric drove our sprinter van from Bend, Oregon down to Santa Cruz, California, sleeping and training along the way and having an amazing time! He met van people, explored the coastline, and WON THE RACE! Here's Eric's cinematic recount of the whole experience. We hope you enjoy.

This is my favorite TTL episode so far. I felt a connection to the journey, to what inspires you about this race. It's not a surprise that your last 70.3 win was here, since the beauty of the location brings out your best. I can imagine Paula screaming following you on the tracker and seeing that you won, and Nick losing his mind when he found out (and for a time, taking his pain away). Keep finding races that suit your strengths because there are more wins that await you!
Eric's win felt like how I feel just finishing a 70.3. The emotion is so relatable.
Seems that Eric places better when competing alone, allowing him to get into the right mindset and headspace! Calming the nerves, finding beauty and inspiration might just be it! Big congrats!! Thank you for bringing us along the journey, in the ups and downs. Can't wait listen to the podcast.

Eric. That was one of your BEST episodes, yet. For me, it was like reminiscing to the days of my youth: a great sense of freedom and excitement. Somehow in your rush to get a video out, you captured all that is great in the TTL.

I was watching this on a new laptop, waiting for the battery to die for the first time. By the time it died, I was already so interested in racing Santa Cruz, started looking at the race dates and other logistics while watching/listening. Between the time it died and turned back on, I registered! See you in September Santa Cruz. And Eric, thanks for the reco :)
Wow. Amazing. So happy for you and Paula. I did this race the last time you won. Same flight back to Canada as you and Paula.Pointed Paula out to my wife , and explained who she was . You said hi as we checked in at airport. I had no idea who you were , let alone you won the race the day before . Still feel like an idiot.
I believe this season for Eric was about proving to himself that he could still compete at a very high level and that he could win races. This result along with the other wins and high place finishes give him the verification that he was searching for.
