- Hawke Harbour is the site of the burned down ruins of a whaling Station on the Southern Labrador. The plant burned in 1959. Remnants of the processing plant gives one an idea of the magnitude of this place. It had to be an impressive site on this isolated and wild part of the southern Labrador Coast. I am sure you would have smelled it before you saw it. Cranky Goat Entertainment’s Christopher Richardson and Peter Elliott accompanied me as they filmed two episodes of the CBC Land and Sea Program “No Place Like it”. Check it out at:

Continue to explore, to delve into the history of long-abandoned communities, to remember those who once lived and loved, who were loved. Thank you Ed for your heartfelt stories.
Another masterpiece of beauty and narrative Ed. You have brought us so much joy. Thank you!
Another great video with lots of history. There was more Basque involvement in Newfoundland than I originally knew. Thanks for another gem.
Another gem, Ed ! Thank you.
I love the video elements, and the aerial drone-shots ... but the history is the foundation, and the research you put into that is much appreciated.
Really enjoying these; excellent! Thanks for putting these out!
Another great video, Ed!
I very much like how you show us and tell us the history, keeping it engaging and interesting.
So well done, Ed !!! Very interesting.... Although essential to so many people, whale oil had to be produced in such great quantities. It is hard to imagine a slaughter of such scale, on such enormous animals. It is so nice to see the whale population re-establish over our own life span. Hopefully, we only need them for the awe and amazement they always produce on us, seamen, mariners, sailors and pleasure boaters.
Makes me wish that I had been able to go there, thanks for giving me the pleasure of seeing it.
I’ve purchased a sailboat a couple years ago and intend to explore Newfoundland bit by bit each summer, love your videos, very inspiring
There's no shortage of stunning places in this province, but that shot of Triangle Harbour at 12:05 has me convinced it's right at the top of them.
I agree! The lighting and the solitudemade for a memorable visit!
Another great video, thanks!
