Coffee Making On The Trail

- Connie and I stop on the trail to make some coffee. We both enjoy drinking coffee and when on the trail or even in camp, a fresh cup of brew sure does hit the spot. The stove we are using to heat the water is a Ghillie Kettle. I have been wanting one of these type stoves or "storm kettles" for many years and the folks at campingkettle.com sent me the one of my choice. I have been using this Ghillie kettle now for several months and it is everything I hoped it would be. Even though I really like my Ghillie kettle and will be using mine for many years to come, whether or not a Ghillie Kettle is for you can only be decided on by you.

Hello my name is Lonnie and My wife is Connie.
Here at Far North Bushcraft And Survival you will learn about many long forgotten tricks and tips of the old time woodsmen. Not only will you learn about bushcraft / woodcraft but you will learn many things that will help you to survive in less than ideal "survival" situations as well. Come along and sit with me by the campfire as I delve into these subjects in a way that you can easily learn to then do yourself.
I will show you how to make shelters, gather food, use wild medicines as well as start fires with or without matches, lighters, ferro rods, etc
I'm so happy that you two are back doing things together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lonnie, I love you and Connie's videos. Your smooth easy going voice is a welcome change. I especially enjoy your winter videos, I always liked getting out into the woods in winter. Don't be a stranger.
Your videos bring me much peace, God bless
Now that IS a smartly designed kettle. Bringing the fire up the center makes excellent use of the heat. Brilliant.
They're really good fun and pretty fast. I have a NZ variation - a "thermette" which was based on ANZAC stoves in WWII. Different handle system and different fire and stove setup.
The snowmobile track shot....That was an awesome edit . That is a lot of work for a cup of coffee ! I bet that made for a good cup of coffee ! That Ghillie kettle is quite the set up ! Cheers !
It's so good to see you Lonie and your lovely wife Conie again after such a long time I can only imagine how busy you guys have been at this time of year in icey Alaska 😱😬😬😁
It's a tough rugged lifestyle
But plenty of reward in the end.

Good to see your both okay. Was getting a little worried. Love my Kelly kettle. I have base camp model. It'll boil 6 cups of water in about 5 minutes.
Great to see you both again!! God bless!
Great video, I swear I could smell the coffee! There is something about eating and drinking out in nature it is somehow totally different.

Great to see you guys are back, happy new year to you both, always enjoy your time vedios thanks for your time
I don't drink coffee or tea but, now I know if I'm ever in a survival situation during and after snowfall, I now know how to safely locate water beneath it. Welcome back, and thanks for the tip, Mr. Bushcraft Wizard.
It's good to see both of you too! Nice kettle, I really like it!
Send some of that snow our way Lonnie! We've been having 50 degree days over here in PA getting robbed of our winter
Great video. I love the winter filled forest w/ a warm fire sipping on hot coffee. Fills the soul with Gods beauty & many blessings! Happy New Year to y’all 👍
..coffee makes the world go round,,lol.. great vid..
Good to hear from you both again. Stay safe and warm.
Super nice coffee brake, I would love to have that every work day instead of a quick automate coffee from the machine in the office.
I'm definitely going to look for that kettle, worked like a charm! Now I know the proper way to make coffee, even roast the beans if I have to. I'm getting there one step at a time, with your help of course! Thanks for the video, and God bless you and Mrs. Connie. Stay safe out there!
Nothing better then a great cup of coffee when your out in the cold Bush. Like your pot
Welcome back. That kettle looks like it would be real handy in any situation. thanks for showing us.
Nothing like a good cup of coffee while out in the snow/cold! Glad to see you guys again!
Welcome back and a very Happy New Year to you! God bless!
I've seen these on other videos, yet never realized they'd "whistle" to show that they're boiling. Nice to see you both! Thanks for sharing a simple pleasure ... God Bless
I think it is only the Ghillie that whistles, Kelly & storm don't - just have a cork, but that does mean you can carry water in them, if you are careful.
Well look who’s back hi Lonnie and Connie nice to see you both.
Yes you can’t beat a nice warm cup of coffee, the Ghillie kettle highly recommend I have one and my son has one too, made here in the UK 🇬🇧
The whistle always reminds me of mum shouting out Tony turn the kettle off happy memories from years gone by. Thanks for sharing 👍👌🇬🇧
WELCOME BACK It's great to see you all.Love the snow.
So glad to see another video! Great alternative to a Kelly Kettle! Until next time, be well and have fun 👍🇨🇦
Watching this made me realize LONNIE how you and I take for granted that we can drink almost any water we find running. Most of my province {NS} is the same. My wife bought me a KELLEY KETTLE for my trail rides. Thanks for sharing this with us. Hope to watch many more of your vids this year. Happy Trails to you and CONNIE.
Hey it's good to see you both again.
I see you got a new toy, pretty cool,,,,thanks for sharing this with me I do appreciate it ...
Like I said before and I will say it again I can hit the like button before I view the video👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers & a Happy new year to you & Connie. This weekend, after I check my traps, I'm going to fry up some "Sacred Bacon" in memory of Kevin aka MegaWoodsWalker.
I had not heard and was not sure I understood your comment. I went to his channel and seen that he uploaded the last video only like a week ago. Many will feel the loss.
that is certainly an awesome Kettle.. and even more awesome is to make coffee out in the bush and in the snow no less J
It is good to see you and Connie are doing well. Keep the videos coming.
We love our Ghillie kettle :)
Nice to see you back, folks. I've been wanting one of those Ghillie kettles for a while. Nice.
Another GREAT video, Lonnie! Glad to see you and your lovely wife, Connie! Thanks for sharing! Hope to see more videos soon! PEACE!
This was beautiful.
Connie looks so cute all bundled up! I like the snowmobile camera trick that was cool. Fresh ground coffee is the best. My little girl makes amazing campfire coffee. I can't duplicate it to save my life. No filters, yet still no grounds in your cup. I hope she will make me some when we go out this weekend. Thank you for the video! We didn't get any substantial snow in PA this year so thanks for sharing yours!
We missed ya'll Lonnie. Good to hear from you.
Thank you, I don't know why but it's been extremly relaxing
A great video Lonnie. Good to see those mitts in the right environment.

Always good to see you both. I'm really glad to see you are doing well. You make the best outdoor videos! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. That's a pretty neat kettle. I really like that design. Lonnie, you look good as a redhead, lol. Nothing like a hot cup of coffee on a cold wintery day. Especially made with good clean water. Thanks for bringing us along!
Soooooo glad to see you again!!!
I've been missing y'all! Great video!
Please make more!
Hi guys. I was thinking about you other day I haven’t seen a video in a while. I’m glad you’re OK. I wish we had a little more winter down here in New York. Happy new year God bless.
I really like the Ghillie Kettle, forgot to mention it before. Maybe when I get famous someone will send me one also. The design of these reminds me of a mini rocket stove. The draft definitely pulls the air into the burn and produces a cleaner flame. Also having the chimney in the middle translates into effectuate heat transfer to the water with less heat waste into the air. A very cleaver design from folks who understood these things. Well worth the investment for those who would use it.
This type of kettle has been around from pre-historic time, called samovar in some parts of the world.
Love that coffee system. Ingenious how you can boil water from the middle out!!
Welcome back, and thank you for the video. Simple and effective. I could smell the coffee from here. 😄. I can’t wait to get out myself.
Camp coffee out in the wilderness is the best!! Safe travels!

Very nice coffee setup Lonnie and Connie. I have the exact same grinder, I attach it to a cordless drill at home for ultra fast easy grinding. That kettle works great for deep snow looks like. I also must say that you should do coffee commercials, I always crave a cup after seeing your coffee playlist videos. We missed you guys on here, thanks for sharing a cup with us L&C.
Hello from Ireland! Love our Kelly Kettle. Thanks for the vid :)
My wife was asking me what you were listening for, I told her you were going to dive into the snow like an arctic fox. Lol she believed me until you broke the ice. Hahaha

Yes finally!
awesome kettle never seen one like it before. thanks for the share. Happy New Year
Hope you guys had a great Christmas, happy new year Lonnie and Connie 👍
Being a person with a slight build with small hands I appreciate the discomfort Connie endured to do the camera work.My brother who carried about 50 lbs.more than I had large hands and retained his dexterity longer in extreme cold.So thanks again to Connie! Was just wondering how is your sleds floatations off trail in loose powder? Your appreciation of the preparation of the coffee reminds me of the Japanese tea ceremony. The fact that you could hear the water trickling reminded me of stopping in the bush while snowmobiling on a cold windy day,and how calm and quiet it was in contrast to sledding at high speed outside of the bush. It's not hard to understand that this is the environment that makes it possible for wildlife to survive the winter.Again, thanks for sharing!👍😃
My Arctic Cat Bearcat XT has a 20 inch wide track and does quite well in virgin snow. It almost works better while backing up with two people on it then my old 16 inch tracked machine did going forward with one on it. I have heard quite few people say that when you get a big machine like this stuck, it is *really* stuck bad. That is not true. I would much rather dig this machine out from being stuck then my old 16inchers.
Thank you so much. Another great video. Stay safe please
Happy New year glad to see you two are both out and about still
What a nice coffee break. :) God Bless.
