The fact that the song didn't do the predictable "key change" near the end when you thought there was going to be one, goes to show how predictable modern ballads or modern songs in general have become. This song is epic! Great review!
that opening "choppy" bit .. I've read 2 ideas: (1) it's to represent a fading radio signal or (2) a voice heard thru a propeller (which matches the ww2 plane at the beginning of the video).
It seems like a message from a pilot who had to bail behind enemy lines and is requesting help but the radio is breaking up, GaGa is wearing a parachute in the video.
