I'm a retired firefighter and we've been using NuFinish for over 40 years. Red fire trucks & ambulances look new when we trade them in. We did each truck 2 or 3 times a year. Thin coat hand rubbed in then hand buffed when dry. Used on my personal vehicles as well. Great stuff.
Did you clay first or applied NUFinish?
@@IVAN2233 yes
@@dep7up YES What ??? Did you read the question ????

Just bought 4 at target on clearance for $2.80 each! 😅🤘🏼
I bought a black 02’ Bonneville from my uncle. He had a front end bra on it. I wanted it off. Upon removing it I found the paint was damaged from water being trapped under the bra. The paint had a cloudy cast all though out. I bought Nufinish and when to work. It did an amazing job getting the damaged clear coat back to a like new finish.
I`m old and had a heart attack. I don`t have the time or energy to piss around with it. I`ve got a 33 year old red sports car. Old school paint. A twenty footer. Get any closer and the subterfuge fades. But it gets it done once a year and looks great when done. Wash and polish in about an hour. So easy to do and last till next year.
Did my car start to finish in like 30 minutes with this stuff, looked great. Still looking great 4 months later.
Thanks for answering all my questions.
Good video. Great on windshields.
This was a great video thanks
So basically, for the daily driver that one wants to protect the paint as long as possible, doesn't want to spend a fortune on detailing and doesn't have the time to baby the car, Nu Finish is an excellent choice.
@silverbird58 Are you a scale modeler?
Lasts a long time, far longer then most.
I would still recommend using a clay bar first to remove contaminants because, if you don't, you'll just be scratching up the clear coat as you apply the polish. Clay bar is easy. You just wash your car and then fill a bucket with soapy water and run the clay bar over the clear coat with the soapy water as a lubricant. When the clay bar starts to get dirty, you just fold the dirty part into the bar and use the exposed clean part of the bar to continue. Dry the car and then apply the polish as is shown here unless you can access a D/A machine. If you can, you then cut the clear coat with a compound and then a polish and then the Nu Finish or wax. I know it sounds like a lot of work but, it can be done in a day and the look will last a lot longer than a year.
Would it be hard to get off if you accidentally get it on plastic or rubber trim? Like my plastic black fender flares for example?
Correct. Nu Finish is a one-step product: it will clean, polish and protect with one application.
Used it for years and it lasts a long time. Cleaned one stage paint very well. I may go back to using it as a sealant, but Scott is right, it will stain plastic and rubber.
I use it like a cleaner wax and lasts comparable to zymol and a good price
I just used it, i wiped it on with a damp cloth, but once dried i took it off with my electric buffer, then wiped down with dry microfiber real quick, that thing shines like a diamond
This stuff has been around 100 years.
What a great review - straight up, and factual.
Thank you!
I use this stuff as a glass cleaner. I drive trucks. I first scrub the bugs off, then do a simple windex and wipe to clean. But you always get streaks, always. My final step is to put a little of this on a blue shop towel, wipe on a thin layer inside and out then a clean paper towel to wipe it off. Very easy and it comes out crystal clear, it removes all streaks left behind by the windex or other glass cleaners. Also use it on all my mirrors so they are crystal clear.
I can remember a commercial years ago when the guy went to a junkyard and applied it to a dull finish car and it came out shinny.
I've used the product for years. It holds up great and protects my paint. Goes on and comes off easy...
I remember many years ago, I would actually put that on my wash mitts and I'd say to myself "Polish while you Walish", and I'd scrub down the panels. It DID restore a bit of color and depth, but obviously wasn't the best way to use it lol
Excellent for windshields as well to stop wiper chatter with cleaning wipers with alcohol
Works great on windshields. Learned that from Scotty.
Love your straightforward style. Too many know-it-all shills out there. Thanks Scott
This is my wax of choice for years and it really last. Just when you think it might be gone, it rains and the water beads or it shines after a wash. Really good stuff which I also use to keep my headlights clear.
“Somebody’s gotta rub somebody at some point in time” 😂🤣thanks for the vid..
the thinner the lighter the better. Keep off rubber and plastic thin. Buff right after it hazes. Thanks for the useful info
An honest assessment, just like when Consumer Reports gave it a high rating. Meguiar's Cleaner Wax also rated high and they don't stain.
Thanks again for giving us the straight deal on the products you review. I have learned much and continue to. So Thanks!
I used this fairly recently because of the ease of use and longevity. In S Florida, the cars take a beating from the sun, so its nice to have some protection.
I use it on my truck and boat. It works great!
I've been using Nu Finish since 1987. This is truly a once a year sealant. It also works well at removing and/or hiding scratches in paint. If you have scratches on your guage cluster clear bezels. Rub some Nu Finish on bezel and Wala scratches gone!
I use NuFinish once every year. It works really well. It is best to keep it off any black plastic or rubber trim. I like how slippery the paint becomes. When I am done, I like to throw a clean cloth accross the car and watch it slide ovet it.
Any tips on how to remove it from black plastic / trim?
@@chaps203 if it's stained? Yeah that'll be difficult. You'll have to cover it or possibly remove the stained material.
I remember how much it popped the shine when I was around 14 and I used it on my dad’s monte ss. I’m about to use it today on my super duty, appreciate the tip on the amount for sure as I have some sq footage to cover with little product
We use it on our bathroom shower walls shines and water repels
Great product, been using it for years an only applied it once in direct sunlight and does buff off easily, but streaks like all get out. To remove streaks I lightly misted waxed surface with water and re-buffed.
I just applied some today, the paste, and had streaking. I got a lot of the streaks out by rubbing and buffing firmly. I think the streaks are excess remnants of the product. I'll try your method next time, thanks for the tip.
I have been using it since the late 80’s. Great stuff! All that you say is true. Apply it in the shade or do a section at a time and don’t get it on your black trim.
I tried it out after buffing the car out shiny as heck comes off very easy
I have only use Nu Finish for 30 years. On all my cars, trucks, camper and JetSki. Works great, last longs and protects the paint. Highly recommend…….
I love using this one widshields, mirrors, and windows. Comes off streak free and crystal clear! Works better and longer than rain-x too. Very good product especially for the price! :)
Very underrated use for it. It makes water bead better than rainx and last like 6 months on the windshield
I used to use it for windshields too, but rainx ceramic is a lot easier to apply and buff out.
Informative and entertaining! I've been using the paste for years, love the product. Never tried the liquid, will this year! You make very keen observations! Thanks!
Nu Finish does not have abrasives. Since its silicone based its purpose is to coat the applied surface. Buffing or rubbing here refers to not to apply downward force while applying and wiping it off. Don't press down. What ever you use to apply you're using to spread it across the surface same when wiping it off you're just absorbing any left over polish that didn't adhere to the surface.
He says to keep it off plastics and rubber but, with so many rubber and plastic parts on car nowadays I wish he would explain a good way to do this. I found it to be extremely hard to do so. My only solution would be to apply a different wax when going around the plastics and rubber.
I saw a long-term durability test on an automobile hood that had been sectioned off into 18 spaces, with 18 different waxes and coatings tested outside after about 50 washings. Except for some of the expensive 9H nano-ceramic coatings, this stuff, surprisingly, did about the best for long-term water beading ability.
What did the best?
@@keepitthoro6768 I'm sorry but it's been so long ago that I can't remember, plus the fact that I'm 71 years old and can't remember details as well as I used to. I'm guessing that maybe that might have been done by Brian at Apex Detailing. I think that Chicago Auto Pros did a comprehensive test on a whole bunch of coatings over the span of a year about a year ago.
I remember that too. NuFinish did well on long term water beading. This was around 2017.
I used nu finish 0n my newly acquired 2013 chevy truck. First I washed, then I clay bar, wash again. Then I used the. Nu finish
As instructed. Looked good, but I waited for two weeks as the bottle said. Applyed a second coat. The white truck looked looked great, water could not stay on the truck, dirt and mud washed off with a water hose. It is now nearly 10 years and it still looks good. I can tell the polish needs to be re done. Yes ten years great stuff!!!!
Informative, I've been using Nu Finish for years with good results. Nice to get how/why it works. Thanks for the video.
My dad loved this stuff. He did a spot on our camping trailer and you could see the shiny spot for over 10 years!
Great video, Thanks. It does work well.👍💪
very nice simple video again buddy.b well😃😃
Love Nu-Finish. I’ve been using it on my black on black 2005 Lexus LS430 for 13 years now. It’s amazing. People regularly compliment me how how glossy my paint is, even on a 15 year old paint. And black is a pain in the ass to keep clean and shiny. I recommend it for sure. And it’s inexpensive.
Great. Thanks for this sharing about the usage and high efficiency of Nu Finish item .
👍❤️
I am a scientist and LOVE it when you talk chemistry. You try to not show your face but the reflection off the panel gave you away.
Scott always looking forward for the next video, so MUCH info, by the way just recieved my first order of Jack's OH MY GOD these towels are the BOMB
Thank you my friend..
Much love and thanks for the order
If you have faded red paint, this stuff is fantastic. I had people asking if I got my car painted. I had tried a bunch of other products before hand. Nu Finish seems like a very good product to me. I have had great results using it on all my cars.
I use Meguiars cleaner wax with the orbital, THEN after that go over it with New Finish. Does great, as long as it's going on very good paint.
My biggest complaint with this stuff is its smell. It's quite potent and doesn't smell very good either. It doesn't smell like farts or anything, but it has a strong chemical smell.
This stuff works well on fiberglass tubs and showers too.
Scott I have ordered your Sucker, Jack and Big Daddy Towels and they are the BEST towels I have ever used. Very Happy Customer.
Thank you so much!
I think it works very good I use it on my 2010 Camaro yellow
I used this for YEARS and loved it
it would be nice if you started with a dull finish instead of a high polished surface
guess you didn't listen. It has VERY MILD abrasives in it. not made for heavy duty buffing or oxidation removal. Use the product for what it is intended for. Your paint shouldn't get dull if you take car of your vehicle like you should. It's purpose is too provide long lasting shine and protection for the person who doesn't want to spend a lot of money or time waxing their car. It will take out light scratches and help keep the paint shining like it did when it was new and you don't have to do it once a month. There never was and never will be that miracle product that will bring back that showroom shine to your 20 year old Monte Carlo that wasn't garage kept or maybe washed once a year and will only take 15 mins and will only cost $9.95 and so easy to do, you won't even break a sweat.
Exactly
@@donaldsharpless1746 maybe you don’t remember the original commercial? Where he was in an “auto graveyard” and used it exactly in a dulled vehicle.
But yes, if you take care of your vehicle, it should never get dull.
@@donaldsharpless1746 Guess YOU didn’t listen……it was described several times as a CLEANER wax……we can assume that it’s designed to restore oxidized faded finish.
At 05:00, "Trash Panel"?. I wish my finish looked like that!
He meant that it’s from a junk yard but I agree
Some black plastic pieces on my car were fading. I put some nu finish on and now they look brand new.
great stuff. the small round tin version rocks
"Somebody has to rub something at some point" haha I like what you did there
My favorite is nu finish for all my vehicles and I detail my stuff.
NU FINISH I used it to restore my boombox WHICH is black and it brought it back like the original look without any wax feeling at all
ALSO WORKS GOOD ON MY Headlights COVERS THEY LOOK new...
I have used Nu Finish for years, and the only thing I don't like about it is the staining of plastic parts... MY FAULT there. I literally love the finish on the paint.
Odd thing is if it was $70 a bottle, people would drool over it, that its so inexpensive, should be a good thing, but for some people its not. LOL
I used it for a few years. It might protect, but it looks and feels dry after a while, like it could use a wax. I like using Meguire's Gold Class a couple times a year.
FACTS
@@Greg042869 good thing Turtle Wax made a spray ceramic spray, seal n shine is $8 you can apply it on top of nufinish and it also protects it for longer
@@jorgenvonstrangle000 Good thing you can skip nu finish totally and just use the spray coating...
Nice honest video (good length too, under 10 is my magic cutoff)
Videos over 10 minutes give you more revenue from RUclips.
I used Magic Eraser it's more controlled than a liquid and now he that who really has mineral spirits around their house it did leave some white residue but it's better than the way it looked
For my next new car, I plan to include this in my exterior maintenance arsenal. Much appreciate your objective demo.

Alex Mitchell Holy smokes !!! He sounds exactly like him bro !!! Hated MASH though 🙄😂😂😂
Look up David Browning. He's a Barney Fife imitator. Funny stuff.
I hear a combination of Ray Ramano and Howard Stern.

I’ve been cleaning/detailing cars for over 20years and found nufinish to be an excellent product even compared to professional compound or even newer ‘paint protection’ type products . . .
Can this be used on new cars ? Was going to use on my 91 Honda but my friend wanted to use it on their new car. Thanks 👍
This video is a classic example of your ethic and style, so cool. Thank you.
Great vid. Been using this for many years.

It's always been good stuff but it still has an "Infomercial" stigma with many.
Excellent post. Thx.
Fantastic Videos Any Videos on Clay Bars pls
I've using this product on my cars and boats for a really long time and I totally agree that it's an excellent product! Easy to apply and very long lasting! I run a charter boat service in Maine and put about 5,000 miles a summer on my boat during a 5 month season and this product still protects at the end of the season. Another use is on car windshields. I recently watch a RUclips video by Scotty Kilmer in which he said that NuFinish applied to the windshield keeps wiper blades from dragging and making noise. I tried it the next day and SOB it works! My relatively new wiper blades had been driving me nuts and two weeks after applying NuFinish to the windshield I can still run the wipers on a dry windshield with no noise at all!
You shouldn't run wipers on a dry windshield!
@@milfordcivic6755 Obviously! But with Nu Finish applied to the glass it's possible to do so briefly to demonstrate the lubricative effect…
@ScottyKilmer - Love his product reviews! 😂
My dad had a bottle back in the early 90's that he used to wax his brown 1983 Chevy Malibu. I swear I could smell it when you opened the bottle Scott.
J Riley Hella strong smell!!
This man knows stuff.
My neighbor added black shoe polish in his and worked on the rubber he said
I am 67 and detailing my cars for many years. Been using NU Finish for I can’t tell you how many years and always been my favorite. Once I polish vehicle will continue to bead car wash after car wash and I am very particular about my car. This is my favorite. Thanks to the video. Oh and it is easy to apply and take off and leaves a beautiful shine.
Alex Leung troll much?
Yes. People who do not understand car care love nu finish. Do you use slick 50 as well? Octane booster?
I had a Mazda Miata that I lovingly clayed and polished with the Zaino product line. Very expensive. Later used Nufinish and layed down 5 coats over a 2 week period. My neighbors tree broke a limb and fell across the hood of my car, leaving a nasty mark. It actually just buffed right out. Nufinish is a strong coat of protection.
The Mazda was totaled, but the polish held up! Next you'll be telling us how you saved money on your car insurance! ; )
My life is complete! Thanks Scott!
Funny, this guy sounds like Ray Romano on the show Raymond 😂
Nu Finish and elbow grease for the win.
Hmmmmm ... looks like you put it on a mirror-perfect surface to begin with .. So how can we tell how good of a polishing job it does?
It's my go to wax for years and I will continue to use it on every car I own.
I bought a 15 year old car from a coworker. He used this stuff every 6 months. The car looked brand new. He never painted the car in all those years. 😂 of course in two years I made sure it looked it’s age lol. No it still looked pretty good on the outside, inside different story. Kids!!!
Purchased the mequiars wheel brightner and I must say I was impressed.
I have learned a great deal from your videos thank you for your content.
You took a wrong turn, that's another video. This one's on Nu Finish applied to painted surfaces and not trim. And, btw, it's spelled Meguiar's; and, wheels are down low on the car. ; )
I've been Detailing for over 30 years and come across some good low end products that work extremely well.
This is one that works as advertised
I use it on windows and plastic headlights my 1985 escort pony still looks great
If it has abrasive in it, it is polish. It has a super fine abrasive that I have used to remove hairline scratches too fine for any normal abrasive and it took a ton of work.
Anyone remember "Rain-Dance"? I used to use that in the 80's on my red Honda CRX. It definitely prevented my red paint from oxidizing, unlike some more 'modern' waxes.
Brian D. That’s all I used on my cars in the 80’s. Worked great 👍
It worked great but the two part formula form the 80s was a bear to apply. It was like waxing your car twice.
Ya I was just thinking about Rain Dance the other Day I use to put it on my
1984 V 65 and its been Years since I've wax the Bike it stays out of the Sun Light
But it probley could use a coat of wax any sugestion ?
Rain Dance!! 💧👍👍👍👍
Best bang for buck sealant.
2:40 you bet it does! people laugh when they see it and say “really” and i just say 🤷♂️ worked for me for 25 years, what they use after me is up to them but this is the only thing i’ve used that won’t attack a surface like some of the newer ceramics i’ve seen …and i do some custom paint on aircraft, semi trucks cars boats you name it! ✌🏻i rub it, take some overspray off and yes just a thin layer
Very good explanation!!
I have heard from Scotty Kilmer that it works on windshields like rain-x.
Rob Wells ya I tried it and it works well. Goes on real easy too. Makes the windshield crystal clear.
@Frotax Frotax yup. I have specific glass polish but you're exactly right

I dont use this myself but it has one extra ingredient others dont and will remove rust from gun metal. I dont know the name of the ingredient but remember reading about this in a gun magazine some years ago.
Just put this on my black BMW M4 this evening and boy it is impressive.
Consumer reports rates it very highly. I made the mistake of laying it on thick, and it was evil to take off.
Lasts semmingly forever, and great for winter paint protection.
I started using it about 30 years ago based on Consumer Reports' recommendation. I now used Zaino Bros exclusively and will never use Nu Finish again. Way too much work and there's no way it lasts even two months let alone a year.
I believe that the paste is the one to get not the liquid.
Make sure to keep it on metal only. If it gets on anything plastic its rough to remove it.
