Finally, I got the electrical connection disconnected thanks to the recommendation of using blaster on it. Got the big fuel line disconnect. The smaller one is a pitta for sure..
The same line you had difficulty with, I'm having difficulty with. I'm probably going to order a new sending unit , and just clip the line, disconnect from the other end, and try to remove it then. With better leverage.
This honestly could not have been any better of timing. I have to drop my gas tank because it leaks when I fill it up all the way so I’m going to be replacing it with everything you have there.
I guess because my truck seemingly had an aftermarket exhaust, it's not in the way, however... disconnecting that wire harness is my setback at the current moment. I'm pushing the tab the best I can, but it's not budging, I even lifted the tank up a bit to loosen the tension but yeah taking a break, so I don't break it.
Been thinking about tackling this project on my rig as well. What do you do with the fuel that gets drained from the tank? In my case, I believe the insides of both the front and rear tanks are corroding, so I don't want to save it in that state. Do people filter it and add it into the replacement tank(s)? Dispose of it? How?
Question! Do you think a hole in the tank would cause a truck to stall out while driving? Or even possibly hesitate tl start or stay idling? Thank you in advance!
Yes. When my tank was leaking I could only drive for 10-15 seconds before it would stall. And only run when pedal was on the floor. Made for fun trip at Orv park
I have been looking for a way to do drop my tank without taking off the bed. I live in the rust belt and my bed is probably rusted solid to the frame at this point. I plan on capping off the fuel lines for the time being since my rear tank developed a pretty decent leak and I only drive my truck in town.
@BroncosandPartsGarage The rear tank on the Bronco is 33 gallons, but not the F-Series. The trucks have a 19 gallon aft axle tank. (Otherwise the "38 gallon mod" would not be a thing to do to these trucks. See forums, and Several RUclips videos) you can not retrofit the Bronco in-tank pump to work for the truck, because (most all) the trucks have a dual tank system, and the pumps have a different design. 😉 Trust me my man, I would have done this a decades ago on most if not all of the 10+ OBS F-Series trucks I've owned if it were simple. I just don't care for the ghetto pump modifications people have to do for gas powered F-Series when they do the "38 gallon mod." Hence my comment.
Your Bronco will have a steel skid plate supporting the tank and straps on the top like the F-Series. Removing the fuel lines, vent tube and sending unit will be the same- with the exception of the fuel pump- which is in your Bronco tank. We have a bronco exclusive "tank" video coming out in a few weeks. Thanks for watching!
🙄🙄🙄...In ALL the vids I've watched, NOBODY said ANYTHANG 'bout taking the Exhaust hangar off...NOBODY!!!...Sooo, just like the dang 5.0 liter Fuel Pressure regulator, I would've been there all freeking DAY tryna figure out how to take this stupid tank out... AND....I have to work on the side of the road coz my stupid Apartment complex don't allow me to work on my truck in the parking lot....

Let them soak.
This helps, replacing rear leaf spring mounts and fuel tank. Thanks for the video. 👍
Glad it helped

Great vid, thanks for putting it up and showin the process. Lookin forward to part 2.
Thanks. Parts will be ready to ship Monday. Did you get my email?
@@BroncosandPartsGarage I did! I can send the payment ASAP.

Gas weighs about 6 pounds a gallon. So be careful. We siphon it out and use it in lawn mowers. Or take to recycling centers if it’s ever removed.
@@BroncosandPartsGarage that’s helpful - the one difference I suppose in my case is that my truck is diesel. I can just reuse it in my tractor
Good stuff be looking for part 2 will you be at the swap meet May 6.

What are your thoughts on metal vs. plastic replacement tanks?
Metal is good for another 25 years. Plastic is great too but pricier. Tough call. I’m making a video using a plastic front tank on this truck too.
Ever tried 50/50 Acetone/Transmission fluid for penetrating oil?
I have not. Sounds ok

This will work and allow you to assess morer damage under the truck. tanks are pretty cheap. Jeffs Bronco Graveyard sells them
This was really detailed and awesome but why not just remove the bed with the lift? It would've been way easier.
We wanted to make it more an “everyman’s” most don’t have lists. Plus the filler tubes and bed bolts- on most fords in Midwest don’t come out easy.
@Broncos and Parts Garage that's definitely understandable! Awesome video regardless!
We desperately need someone to "OBS solutions" us a ready-made in tank pump for those of us who want to do the 38 gallon rear tank conversion.
Tanks are already 33 gal. Get larger tank, bend down float?!

My vent valve on my single cab short box has two outlets and two hoses and I can’t find a replacement anywhere
One should be fine?!
@@BroncosandPartsGarage after research I learned one Vents to atmosphere, so I bought one for the 302 and capped the one that goes to the bumper
What is OBS? Isn’t your company’s initials but seem relevant if I’m going to understand what your doing. Thank you.

This is the same procedure for the 92-96 bronco full body style?

does the vent tube lead to anything?
Top of tank
they make a tool for exhaust hangers
Didn’t know. But we got em off pretty easy. Saved $$
