Outstanding...You obviously know what you are doing.. Australia or Canada...? USA ( 2023 and Holding ) here and would love to have an Old Army Ruger...AKs and ARs get boring..
Mate, if you thought about it after seeing it you would be too frightened to fire one as it’s a massive explosion and fireball all in your hand !!!!!!🤣
Tasty item, great channel. I'm just reading about the foot pound energy of black powder revolvers and a .36 80grain ball is about 200 ft lbs and a .44 140grain about 400 ft lbs. Some can reach over 500 ft lbs and heavier "conical" projectiles tend to increase power over a ball. Pretty impressive.
Thanks . Some of the ballistics for the old army can even surpass most modern 9mm pistol rounds energy which isn’t to bad for a black powder pistol !! . It also amazes me that some states in America don’t even class them as proper firearms so they are so easy to get old of !!!!!. They are all great fun , a ball ache slow process to load but it’s part of the fun 😁👍
So you turn your wrist over while cocking to have the fired cap fall out and not fall between the cylinder and frame. I check your serial #. My ROA is 30,000 # older than yours..
Yea it’s an habit i have from shooting my 51 navy revolvers just to help the caps fall off before cock the pistol again , not so important on the old army’s though as they don’t usually jam up . Fabulous guns they are 😁
Its a shame these are not being made anymore, the demand is there. My ROA was shipped directly to my house. May i suggest toilet paper charcoal based powder? Been testing it in the ROA recently , 31gr with .456 225gr Lee conicals-975 fps.
Thanks. I’ve made a few different ones in the past , the base is about 12” long x 7” wide which is stable enough then the upright rest piece about 7” and stick a hinge on it so can fold . You can make all shapes and sizes really, whatever you fancy with cut outs to hold balls, caps whatever. Easy enough to make and there’s loadsa ideas if you google it 👍
Lovely. The early models did not come with adjustable rear sights like that beauty has. Let us contemplate the great cloud of smoke that would have enveloped the range in a calm, in the pre-smokeless powder days.
An easier way to load a BP pistol on a loading stand, is to use a drop tube with a small funnel down the barrel. ruclips.net/video/XpA52jp52GU/видео.html
Old army is the best. Been using BP since I was 16 State of Maine starting with a 44 Colt then a Remington 44 but Ruger old army the best. Have fun.
Love the music!

U.K. 😁👍
Happy birthday 🎂. Those black powder guns always look so good in slow motion 👍

@@andyclare03 I was never one to shy away from explosions and fire balls. In fact I love them, when they are recreational explosions and fire balls. 😀
Happy birthday Andy🎉

Cool!
Why put the jelly over the ball ammo. Are you dieseling the ammo.
@@Samuel_Lipscomb Chain fire. Very rare but can happen if one spark ignites the other loaded cylinders. Best be safe than loose fingers 😁

I’ve watched the videos about making that at home . Looks a lot of hassle though .
Can you make a video on your brilliant wooden loading stand with some measurements?

@@andyclare03Thanks for the reply. The cap and ball sections are brilliant. I will be copying it. Thank you. Subbed, Liked.

🤣 can you image, just a massive cloud of smoke as an whole army fires at once !!!
Actually, the early models ALL had adjustable sights. Only some of the LAST ones had fixed sights to accommodate the Cowboy Action shooters.
Kill the music
