I will share my additional thoughts about the new Noble on tomorrow’s Director’s Garage livestream. I was able to do a few comparisons in the couple of hours before I sent them back.
Just a user's perspective for the Noble company I had purchased the noble focus pros when they first came out and I had a problem with one of them not working. So I couldn't figure out how to get to the company so I did a little research got a telephone number it happened to be the owner of the company I called the number John answered the phone I told him what was wrong he listened to my entire issue, and then he told me hey I'm at my son's wedding but let me fix your issue and I was like no way man go enjoy your son's wedding I apologize for even contacting you during this. He told me flat out no you're my customer I'm going to fix what's wrong he called me the next day I had a Brand New pair sitting at my door the day following and from that day forward I have been a noble audio purchaser and preacher. Fantastic company I can't say enough about him. Btw subscribed because i dig your energy
Thats crazy that you were able to get a preproduction unit of the XMEMs, did they mention whether or not they would eventually sell cables or an adapter that allowed you to use these with traditional amplifiers? That was the main thing holding me back from buying a Mems Iem up to this point, I didn't want to be locked into just using the Diablo. I first heard the xmems tech at socal canjam 2022 and was blown away by the detail retrieval. Just the initial prototypes were a step up in terms of clarity than any other iem I had heard until that point. At canjam 2023 I got a chance to spend an extended period of time with the Sonarik Mems-2 IEM. That was a much better tune product that had to detail retrieval to rival almost all totl over ear headphones (expect for the e-stats), it was definitely bright and kind of a fatiguing listening, but still had me reaching for my wallet. The main reason why I didn't spring for it was that I didn't want to commit to the ecosystem with no guarantee of future support. I didn't want to be forced to just use my iems with a single portable amp.
I have the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 with this technology..I'm looking forward to this technology completely taking over the in ear systems nothing comes close
I am a field application engineer for xMEMS. The host has misstated the power requirements of these drivers, leaving viewers with the impression that a lot of power is required to drive the xMEMS transducers. This is incorrect. The xMEMS transducers are actually very efficient in their transduction of electrical to acoustical energy, more than traditional dynamic drivers because the load is predominantly capacitive, not resistive. But because these use piezoelectric transduction, they do require an amplifier that supplies both a DC bias (similar to an electrostatic loudspeaker), and a high drive voltage. This is not the same as high power consumption. They are very efficient transducers and can be used effectively in battery applications such as TWS and hearing aids. But they do have special amplification requirements, which is why iFi has built in the necessary bias and high voltage drive capacity into their Diablo series portable amps.
My apologies if you feel I misstated something-- I was merely conveying what iFi wrote on their website, "Due to the high voltage requirements of xMEMS, iFi has partnered with them to integrate this technology into the new Diablo 2." Voltage = Current x Resistance or Wattage / Amps. To get high voltage, it needs to come from somewhere. I paraphrased and said it needs a ton of power, it wasn't salient point of the video, my apologies either way. Thank you for watching! It's exciting new technology.
From your 1st impressions, I think I'll wait for the XM-2. I would like a wider soundstage and, ideally, the XM-2 would come with an app so that you can easily tune them to whatever you like. If I understand correctly how the XEM driver technology works; it seems perfectly suited for fine tuning to whatever your heart desires.
Yes- and that’s a critical point John wanted me to mention- this is the XM-1 (XMEMS, version 1). This is just the beginning of what these new drivers can do. I think we’ll see multiple drivers and combinations of different drivers in the future. They will get faster, too, as the tech progresses. It’s really neat to see this develop from a first report of the new driver, now a first prototype of a real-world example- next will be real production models and then we’ll see how Noble and others expand their capabilities. The real win here is that they can now be driven by a phone without the need for an expensive amp.
xmems only $699 ? what about the $129 ace from creative labs ? is there a audiophile grade xmems driver and a mass market grade xmems driver they use in the lower cost ace 1 ?
I can't wait to get the same tech in a chifi iem for 100-200 in a year or two But for the money i would love to compare this with sa6 mk2, sound rhyme sr8, xenns top. Will love win those simgot's 🙀. Don't have a great dd. 🤞
When I present the next giveaway episode (It's gonna be a while, I just did one!), the way I've been doing it is just comment on the video so I know you would like to be entered. No sub required. I don't like making anyone do anything they don't really want to do. I'd rather have enthusiastic folks on board than people subbing just for a giveaway.
Willing to wait for the final product of course bc the tech is pretty neat, but this being $699 and having drivers compared to a 7Hz Timeless at $200 doesnt realy do anything for me. Noble products from my experience are very boutique feeling and are priced as such
xmems don't require "a ton of power" to drive, they simply require a DC offset. It's actually ideal tech for TWS, but I guess we shouldn't be surprised to see the man in the Noble T shirt plugging their premium wired version rather than the implementations already on the market...
From iFi: "Due to the high voltage requirements of xMEMS, iFi has partnered with them to integrate this technology into the new Diablo 2." Surely iFi wouldn't enter into a partnership with XMEMS to drive difficult XMEMS drivers, if none existed. Not all XMEMS drivers are alike. Yes, Noble makes premium products, no question. I am a fanboy, and I admit that with frequency on this show. Premium is why I like the brand. I took no money for this, I simply like what they do. They gave me the XM-1 to audition because they are kind and gracious, and I return the kindness. I hope you are seeing a trend there. Thank you for watching!
Wow do you think you could be any more of a prick to this guy he's a noble fan he told you that Noble sending this he's just trying to show it to you if you don't like what he's showing don't come to his channel because you come across as a complete and utter prick sorry
@@paulosilva8200 I only had them for a couple of hours. They didn’t run any of my devices down or anything, but I couldn’t sit there and run them non-stop, I had to shoot b-roll and edit the episode. Volume is exceptional. I did do some A-B comparisons I’ll share on tomorrow’s livestream.
Hey Paolo! It's clarified at 33:36 in the video. I try not to know too much about a product before sitting down with it. I don't want to bias my first impression with expectations of driver counts. I'm telling a story of the product and we discover things together as I go through it. That means there will be mistakes along the way, but that, to me, is part of the fun. The journey is the reward, to my way of thinking. If I hold a product for a dedicated review, that is when I go into specifics. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

Great stuff Director, congratulations on sampling a prototype.
Damn the audio in this video is stunning 👍🏼

These are built into tws like the Creative Aurvana Ace 2. They have tiny batteries. Therefore they do not need " a ton of power" @@DirectorsGarage
Oh! I forgot to add that Fermat's Last Theorem has got to be the best name for an iem I've heard in years. Love it!
really intrigued by those Noble XMEM's
Congratulations on the prototype review! Well done now the bad! I have to raid my bank account when the are released! Thanks for that too! Lol! 😂
So fun….soooo much fun. ☺️
Pre-order price is $699, you've drawn some interesting comparisons to others in Nobles range. Cant wait to see what the competitions going to bring.

No (not yet), they are both using "Cowell" chip, however, TWS and IEM are fundamentally different in terms of many aspects.
The connectors look like the JH Audio connector.
Kool ❤ STUFF! Simgot’z tha S**T🎉
No. I was not thinking about the price. I was thinking that the phone or dap will be empty on battery after 5 min
Great review.

There is an XMEMS IEM from CreativeLabs available now. It’s a TWS for around $150. But I do not think they are using the same driver as the Noble.
@@DirectorsGaragewoah. Ok. Ps do I have to do anything other than being subscribed to be in for the giveaway? 😉

my guess is that is not the final tuning
No dap? And tidal? Ha ha. That's like drinking blue label jw with coke
I tried it with the SP1000. It will only output line level through the USB port. I nearly blew my ears off.

For the record. 1 driver and a passive radiator. Not 2 dd. And the nozzles you can see online their response. Come on man. Review but read before ....
