- At AWS Summit in April, Amazon announced a new service to solve your CI/CD woes, CodeStar. It combines a few existing services in AWS, but is it ready for prime time and should you use it?

This video is exactly what I was searching for. Thanks man!
as others mentioned below, this video is a bit out-dated, but is a good general overview of codestar. as of spring 2019, i HIGHLY recommend codestar for aws project development/deployment, as they have made some key integration and usability improvements (e.g., project setup wizard generates codestar IAM role cfg automatically, build pipeline history is side-by-side with commit history on project front page, along with integrated jira issues, etc.) that bring a lot of extremely concentrated value, in a simple format, to busy development teams.
just found a cloud9 deal-breaker: no java code completion support...that's too bad. :(
Short and clear. Thanks.
Thank you so much for the info.! ❤💥
Awesome, you save me hours of researching. :) Thumbs-up!
A good thorough review.
Wow. Your videos are very high quality.
Thanks!
Great review, and great production quality. Wish you got more views!
Thank you so much!
Great video - from what I've read, CodeBuild now has PRs (haven't used myself but sounds great)
So updated informations . Thanks Ryan
Information which delivered is very mature Thanks
Thanks
Nice job
Hi Ryan, excellent review. Since amazon changes their services so fast some cons are now really invalid. I think you can just add a note about that. Thanks.
You are correct!
For me, I was using rails, and the default template doesn't work form the start, as you say, it's a bit complicated to start.
Can I use codestar to link to an EXISTING github repo, or does it *only* create repos?
hey ryan since you have made this video in 2017 and now its 2020 whats whats your opinion on it. has it evolved and became mature?
Hi Rahul, I think Codestar has made a lot of progress. I’m going to post an update soon about my current thoughts.
@@RyanHLewis I'll surely be waiting for it
Good Work and Thanks
por favor, alguem poderia traduzir esta apresentação em portugues
Wow very helpful thank you
Be aware that the video is outdated! For example CodeCommit is now able to make PullRequests...
Ryan do you happen to have a list of programming languages available on CodeStar? Thanks
It should work for all languages that CodeBuild supports. Here's the list of environments that AWS provides for CodeBuild: docs.aws.amazon.com/codebuild/latest/userguide/build-env-ref-available.html
I can only have ~19 functions in my template.yml if I add more I bump into this error: *AWS CodeStar encountered an error while handling your request: One or more policies in IAM could not be created or updated. The number of resources in your project has exceeded the IAM policy size limit.. Try again with different parameters, or contact AWS Support.* Fix iT!!!!!
This might be a soft limit that you could have as support raise for you. I'd try that first.
that's reason why you may need multi account and multi VPC, there are limits all the time and you have to customiz your services and align with them.
docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/aws_service_limits.html
Nice Review! By the way, did code commit introduced pull request and code review process yet?
Thanks! I believe it has been implemented now.
This is an old video, so most of the issues mentioned are fixed
CodeCommit supports pull requests as of November 2017
Awesome, glad to hear it. I will have to check it out then
Is Codestar mature enough end 2018?
There have been a lot of improvements. I haven't been able to give it another shot yet, but I would suggest trying it out yourself.
Well, then go ahead aws and fix the stuff!
He should make sure he does not look like an Amazon salesperson.
Help me.
Azure is way ahead of AWS when it comes to DevOps. AWS is just hyped. I am having hard time managing AWS DevOps
