GAME is all but gone. A shell of what the retailer once was. The Spanish stores don't seem to have gotten the memo.. They're actually good?
Have you ever been to a Spanish GAME?

The costs to have a spot on the highstreet in Spain are a fraction of the rent and business rates in the UK
The Frasier group has ruined what used to be one of my favourite places on the high street. so sad
June 2019 Fraser group which summarised the end of Game as we knew it.
I’ve spoken to some game employees in different stores and they have all said that with new tills coming in for each store. So they will announce soon about a new rewards style system followed by how new pre orders in store will work
Say thanks to fat Mike Ashley ex Newcastle united owner! Who signed no players that season saying funds were tight then bought house of Frasier a day later😢 being a nufc fan during he reign was very frustrating!

I think a big part of CEX's success is due to Game's downfall over the years
Their downfall began in June 2019 when Fraser group took the reigns.
100%. GAME isn't a game store anymore. CEX sell anything game related from any era which is something GAME have further abandoned. Sad really.
@@Spazza42not to mention also selling a vast variety of electronics old and current also dvds and blue rays
@@XxDyneXxFreeEnergyxno
This has Mike Ashley’s finger prints all over it
Yeah, a game employee told me the preowned stuff was shipped to Spain. I also asked them if they do disc cleaning and he explained that the company that maintained the disc cleaning machines went bust, to they were mostly scrapped. Also, I returned a pre-owned game they had put the wrong disc in and they gave me a store voucher and wouldn't refund it in cash. I visited a different store and asked to use the voucher and they said they cancelled the voucher system, only a few stores (and online) accept them now. Game UK has gone right down the toilet.
Well as they say…the Game in Spain makes the UK one look plain
It's all BS, amazon makes game totally irrelevant. All the Game shops I go in have zero atmosphere, high prices and no stock of 100s of games.
Not true
Traded at CEX in Spain and Portugal (where I live) and it's thriving. They give you much lower value for trade in and sell at much higher costs but it seems to work.
Having seen your last video on GAME, I nipped into my city centre branch today to see if I could still make use of my points, it being nearly the end of July. Alas! Turned out the staff had also been told we'd have til the end of the month, but the guy had been in to change their computers over (they were the last shop to be done) a few days ago. The staff hate the new computers and they're all frantically job hunting. Staffer shared my opinion that GAME's online customer support (who didn't even bother replying to me in the past) is rubbish - they can't get answers out of them either. However they did suggest a trick which I'm going to attempt tomorrow: apparently if I can find the email address I signed up with and log in, if I put a purchase in the cart but don't check out, it ought to show my points balance, and if it's worth it, I can use it to get money off the order. Apparently that is the very last way you can access your points, so if anyone else reading wants to have a go at that ASAP, have at it...
I'd say this widescale integration of GAME into Sports Direct stores is a slow burn closure of the brand. Imagine the outcry if hundreds of shops were closed immediately. Better PR for them to shape the market by weaning UK gamers off physical games, then claim there's no demand for them.
Closing all the dedicated stores removes all those pesky high street rent charges and seeing as the company has mismanaged itself into the ground for decades, with many gamers not touching them with a bargepole for many years, I think they're most likely making little to no profits. It seems fairly obvious to me that they're going to slowly phase the brand out in the UK.
It's a damn shame Gamestation were taken over by them; Gamestation were far and away a better store and would probably still be going strong today.
I kinda understand game getting out of second hand games
They must get a lot of stuff like FIFA that they will not sell
I think most places that sell secondhand games have certain titles they won't take, and sports games that update annually to take account of new team rosters are generally among them - there's just so many copies floating around and few people other than completist collectors will actively seek out the old ones.
I believe it might be a big cultural thing here. As in Australia we have a store called EB games and they take pre owned games in and trade as well, then you also have JBHIFI which sell pretty much anything but in games section you can trade games in. I just wish there was more of a retro gaming store life in Manchester where i am at the moment.
Without a doubt they are removing all traces of games from their stores whether in Sports Direct or a stand alone site. You only have to look at the amount of new games they hold which is dwindling so much that you can literally hold them all in your hands
Tvm takes his games to trade at game for 83 pence
Preston game said there is only 2 stores in Lancashire who do pre owned Liverpool and Manchester
stopping pre orders is a really good thing hows that bad???
The fact they still sell PS3/Xbox360 or even PS2 games is a good win for GAME in Spain
My take on this as an Ex Area manager is that they are ditching their horrible backend system. There would be no way to integrate or share data with other Fraser stores systems. Frasers Group is likely merging all their store systems into one or making a new system that covers all their stores. One thing to keep in mind is their other stores don’t do trade ins. They may not of wanted some noob accessing a trade in option on tills for none game products. This might be the reason why they are got rid of it.
They’re scrapping game elite I got an email about it saying they are ending my yearly subscription early and will reimburse me on points
Videogames in Spain are way more expensive than in UK so they can probably afford to keep it that way
there's been an official statement by the company to staff absolutely confirming the leak about axing physical games to be false. most spare pre-owned media and consoles have been shipped abroad, where the company can make a better profit from them. Wallet functionality has been axed because there is a newer "universal" membership type coming for customers to use.
hi, brit here who went to spain last year and had the pleasure of going into 2 separate game stores and they were 100 times better than game uk, they even had a great selection of amiibo, if you ask a game uk employee for amiibo they probably wouldn't know what you were talking about
hey, i dont recommend actually buying on game spain, just because most of the second hand stuff, i mean almost everything its just the cd with a bad printed case
The standalone Game in Chatham sold pre-owned games at a good discount: first as 3 for 2, then they replaced that with 50% off. Bought several games for PS4.
Pal SECAM is the French format
Yep it’s like a labyrinth to get where game is the one in Leeds city centre anyway .
everything sucks in this decade and we are only 4 years into it and yes that includes gaming
i don't use game because its awful they went down hill prices sky rocketed and i dont like cex because of its random quality spain game is amazing
They went downhill in June 2019 when Fraser took over
@@XxDyneXxFreeEnergyx 2019 is when they took over? oh game has been going down for a while then i just remember 2020 it was awful and it was a pain getting my collectors edition of dead island 2
I'm living in Girona at the moment and had to double take when I saw Game on a random street the other day. Not been inside yet but will check it out, let me know if you want me to check anything out!
TVM teaches Spanish classes for CEX puntos
They have in Italy as well lol
I imagine business rates vs Amazon have a lot to do with the death of Game here in the UK.
You can change the language in any game to Spanish if you wanted to
From what I've heard from a member of staff, if you're after something niche or something, no one else would want to buy or a differentgenre... Your out of luck
If they’re ditching physical is there any point in still calling it game
So hopefully i will be able to pre order the new ps5 astro bot controller i belive the pre orders start 9th of August🙄 this is why i miss the gamestation shops propa gaming atmosphere if new games came out we all knew about it there would be tv videos and posters everywhere you knew something big just hit the shop even if it wasn't they still made it exciting for us gemers and GAME killed my childhood in May 2007 when they purchased gamestation it's never been the same since
it will be a decision behind the scenes to do with how the markets are in the different countries
Heeeeeeey I worked for gamestation too back in the day! Not many of us around these days 😂 yes, pre-owned was always pushed more for both gamestation and game beacuse the profit margins were way higher than new games. As soon as they said they were stopping preowned, I was like.....well, RIP game 😅🙈
They just sell tat now. Time to close up shop.
The gaming industry dead most people download/streaming games
I think if they had stopped focusing on toys and blushes and actually focused on games then it would have done alot better
They started going down in 2010
I have two 360 and one XOne promotional copy's. I can send them to you if you send back the normal one's
Tvm yt channel value is worth 10p and a peanut in game
how many stores get killed by people that dont know how it works...
The era of Game 1992-2019
Wrong the era of game 1992 -2024
Wonder if it's a VAT/Brexit thing?
CEX credit is what you wanted
Please talk about how dogs**t the GAME website is. At the time 178 games roughly closer to CeX’s game catalogue. Searching recent releases 31st July now 64!
Games get delisted but Raincode Ps5 coming soon got delisted. It’s meant to come out in October!
CeX can have listed games out of stock, but at least the catalogue is consistent and you can buy older games.
Another problem is how new releases besides AAA, never come to the store.
nice video
Good vid as usual
Nope terrible video he is a lier
@@dragonmaster7429 Proof?
TVM claims Universal Credit for CEX Credit
Game is dead just like gamestation
Stop telling lies
How do you know he's lying? There are people, on this very video, who live in Spain or who worked in Game in Spain and Portugal and are saying the same thing that it's thriving. Whilst over here there are stores just not stocking as much stuff up. Even got people on here saying they're shipping the trade-ins to Spain.
He isn’t lying it’s true
