Interestingly enough, there are differences between how the two characters use what's ostensibly the same wrestling move: Potemkin Buster is a variation of the backbreaker drop where he leaps upwards with rocket propulsion instead of simply dropping to a knee, while Bedman?'s throw is the submission variant with a bit of electricity added to the mix.
Pro tip, there was a TON of gaps in this where test couldve escaped. The other weird part is... this is the second Testament ive seen sit there and just eat this. @@niko-ef8hq They talked about the base roster getting new moves, yes but they did say they are planning on giving other characters new moves. It would be dumb to only give the base roster new moves and to ignore the other 10 characters and new ones after.
That was the most unsafe string ever. Test could have escaped at so many points there and that honestly is bedman playing almost completely optimally. There is no reason test should have lost that round except that she has been sleeping on her bed matchup.
Bro blocked for 36 seconds, then died and my combos usually start with them attempting to mash through 2HS and me dropping because I wasn't expecting it to hit.
PSA: This combo is not safe to mash out of. A good bedman can slightly alter their timings, and with you being constantly guard crushed, his abnormally long normals and followups, you need to sit through a lot of garbage or risk getting WWA'd into a wall break and repeating the pressure. Aka. Stop downplaying the fear factor, waiting out his string is the best option you have most of the time. You can't just say "hit button!!" because that just leads to you getting exploded.
playing defense is indecipherable in this game. i just press or FD at random moments and hope i don’t eat a huge counter hit into wallbreak into positive bonus into death combo. not sure how you’re supposed to learn the gaps in these insane pressure strings for like 30 different characters lol
There's not remotely close to 30 characters in Strive, but it really just comes down to recognizing certain moves. Unless the opponent has a delayed projectile to cover recovery or a Roman Cancel to just skip it outright, there are certain moves any blockstring will lead to that simply *cannot* lead into a true followup. Recognizing these moves as your opportunity to jump/mash out (and recognizing when they have contingencies to prevent this) is a huge part of defense in most aggressive fighting games. There's more to it, especially when more advanced gameplans like stagger pressure get involved, but if you play the game long enough, and eat enough counterhits to the face, you will eventually learn how to spot the gaps.
*disclaimer, haven't been able to play GG in a while* Short don't-think answer: Deflect shield Long answer: there are some guides to counter play certain moves or entire characters, and there's also asking on the discord of the opponent's character. A lot of people are willing to watch replays to explain what are the gaps which always helps, but if it all sounds like a lot of research (which it is), then you'll have to lab it (if you own the character). You don't need to learn the entire sequence, you just need to do certain bits that might seem weird. For example at certain points Bedman runs a long distance to reset the pressure with c.S, but before doing that they would usually let the bomb error auto activate. You can go the long route and record: Big explosion (held) > c.S > f.S > 2H > projectile (while auto activating the bomb) > run that's a 2 specials an 3 buttons sequence, or hell, just let the bomb auto activate and run from a similar distance and see if there's a gap in there. If all else fails, just deflect shield, DP, hold jump or mash throw at multiple points. You might find valid counterplay doing so
@@davidbacchim3624Bedman struggles to initiate pressure and pretty much loses the round if they're the victim of a hard knockdown.
