Pick up line with both thumbs to the left (left hand palm up, right hand palm down). Rotate both wrists thumbs to the right. Left hand under of the right hand (knuckles now touching). Grab both top loops together with ledt hand with the right hand backing of the loop. It's a Clove Hitch ready to drop on a anchor. (Or "Thumbs to the left, thumbs to the right, left under the right". I came up with this trick while firefighting.)

I love these knot videos. Very wholesome lol. Dude it’s so important to know how to tie knots. I grew up with all kinds of projects where my dad taught me the basics of knots. Now I’m 14 yrs in the military and an aviator professionally but I boat in my free time and people are always impressed at my ability to quickly bust out the right knot at the right time. And even when you don’t have a knot in mind, if you know the basics, you can improvise.
I have a boat in SF bay and find myself hosting all kinds of very successful people just by way of friendships along the way. I’m always hosting and making people comfortable and every now and then I bust out a knot to secure the boat or gear etc. and it leaves people so impressed.
Our friend had a “going away” celebration and he thanked us for our friendship and commented that adventures with us were one of his best memories. And I remember I taught him to knots of the boating world at one point and that was probably his highlight of boating with us.
    Thanks for the video 🫡

I was hoping that you were going to swing that line around that pole in a way that you could put your hand in as it's coming around and catch the working end and then just pull your hand back out and have a clove hitch😆. I like teaching it by turning the half hitches like you did and then also showing how turning one the other way makes a girth hitch. Knots are about holding the rope in ways that make sense while tying.
