This video has made my day. This is an issue that I have been having on my toro titan constantly. Thank you so much for sharing this information and knowledge.
I just got the newest model Timecutter (77507) and even though the factory spring did seem to have a little more tension then your example it still threw the belt after just a 1.5hr runtime of the very first mow. However, there was an additional muffler shield on mine which would make this exact workaround not possible without either parts removal or extra cutting. So, what I did was attach and twist on a sturdy keyring into the center of the spring which essentially locked down about 1/3 to 1/2 of the coils, thereby increasing the spring's tension; I also attached a ziptie through the ring and on the opposite side of the spring on the chance the keyring managed to vibrate itself back through and off the coils, granted it seemed pretty tight by itself so I couldn't say if the ziptie was actually necessary or not. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet but I think it may hold up. But on the chance it doesn't, then I've also considered taking the spring out altogether and instead replacing it with the hooked rod from a car's battery tie-down, which would allow for an actual mechanical tightening of the tensioner. Only thing is that it would be more solid and not provide that little bit of bounce back like the spring so would need to be sure to not be too loose but also not too tight either, which is the reason it's my backup idea. Just figured I'd share these potential "remedies" since they don't require cutting anything. It all stemed from your video though, so thanks for that.
Havent even had it a year. Ive only been able to cut my 3 acres about 10 hours because it keeps coming off. And it eventually breaks bc it gets caught up
@@SeanGriffiths-lb4cv yeah man, I barely survived. So lucky you swooped in to show me the error of my ways. Good thing I didn't get under a Gravely Pro Master Z with a 60" deck today lifted in the same manner today....
Thanks for the knowledge. God bless you
Very well explained. Thank you great video.

Thank you for the encouraging feedback my friend
Thank You, Thank You! This has been a constant problem and it’s a pain to get that belt back on.
It sure is!!

I appreciate that. If you're ever back under it, I'd like to see pictures. Sounds like a good idea.
My belt gets eaten from the inside where the ribs are. After 2-3 mows the ribs on the belt is worn down smooth
Did you put a stiffer spring?
How long has it held up?
So far he's still using it
@@christophercorbett7307 thank you. I may try this on mine
Does that belt turn constantly, just wondering if more tension would burn the belt
@@mr.everything0844 yes it spins all the time. It's lack of tension, ie slippage that burns belts
@@christophercorbett7307 ok thanks again

Stiffer spring
I knew this was going to be bad. Look at how he lifted it up.

Do not do this. Cutting holes in your mower is not the answer. Get a shorter, stronger spring.
@@SeanGriffiths-lb4cv Or do it and fix it. Not a jet plane....just a lawn mower
